I have just began using Final Cut Express. My video contains red text with a black outline created using outline text on FCE. It looks fine when watching the video in the canvas, but when I export it to a quicktime file, the text is blurry and hard to read. I have tried varying line widths and softnesses but to no avail. Another video I have made has white text with a black outline. It is easier to read, but still blurry. What can I do to fix this? Are there settings for export? iMovie has export settings and I am surprised to have not seen any for FCE, considering FCE is more advanced.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have looked around and can't find any guides for my particular needs, so maybe someone here can advise me. I am a teacher and would like to make little instructional podcasts that include still images of a process and some narration over them. I need to be able to control how long to make the still images last on screen so that they fit the narration.I also want to know the best way to package it/export it so that it can be emailed or played on mobile phones.

Is there any way to synchronize clips from the timeline? I understand that there is a way to synchronize from the Project Library but it makes more sense for me to sync from the timeline. If there just isn't a way to sync from timeline, is there a way to put all the clips from the timeline into the Project Library so I can do it there?
I have been using pluralize but wanted to see if I can skip all those extra steps of exporting and importing.I also wanted to see how effective the sync feature is in FCPX 10.1.2
The audio in the timeline is distorted. The clips play well in the browser and the waveforms look ok in the timeline. When I click on the volume line in the timeline it becomes a double yellow line that I don't recall seeing before. This all happened after an auto update to 10.1.2
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm opening my new project/event in 10.1.2. It upgrades successfully, but stalls (pinwheel and top-gray loading bar stating "Loading "X" Project into the timeline") when trying to load the project into the timeline.

I was editing in FCPX and all of a sudden a few clips in my timeline went black. What I mean by that is when I played them back, they were completely black. It was like the footage had gone missing. You name it, I tried all of the obvious things to do from here on in; I replaced and re-timed the footage with a fresh I/O grab from the clips panel. I tried reimporting the clip. I tried re-linking to the source file. I tried re-creating optimised media. Nothing worked. The only thing that worked was transcoding the footage in a different problem with a different filename and then reimporting and then replacing that with the black clip.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI need to revert my timeline back to where it was before it was saved. I made a compound clip and then trimmed it and exported it and then shut down fcp. So, when I opened it back up there was only the compound clip. How to revert back it back to the last time before it was saved?

How do I sync audio to video I've already put on the timeline and cut in FCP X?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 95 minute film in the timeline. There are auditions scattered throughout. In FCP 7 you could select a track with an arrow pointing to the right and perform a command that affected all the clips in that track. My question is, as the title indicates, is there a way to finalize ALL the auditions across the entire timeline? Or do I have to scroll through and finalize each audition separately?

I am using FCP X 10.1, I know I can right click Clips in the timeline and reveal it in the " event browser ",
I am just wondering if there is a way to do it " the other way around " , I want to use any clip in my event browser and reveal it in the timeline ?
I updated to final cut 10.1.3 and none of my videos show the waveform in the timeline. How do I get the audio waveforms back? If I bring in a new video it also doesn't show the audio waveforms in the timeline. The waveforms do show in the browser but it is hard to edit them from here.

I'm doing a quick promo. I recorded a rough script VO, organised my clips and music.
I then had the professional voiceover artist record a revised script.
However, I can't simply replace my original script as we have added a couple of things. What I would have done under 7 is lock the background music and video clips in place, remove the VO timeline, and then replace each bit separately. However, I can't do that because the video clips have connected themselves to each other.
I also have shuffled a couple of things around so need to keep the video the same, but move the audio to a different part. I can move the video without moving the audio, but I can't move the audio without moving or deleting the video.
Was poking ignorantly into the features of the project library of a project I had on the timeline. Something I did made the project on the timeline to change in appearance to this:
What I had done to get the appearance of clips to change and what I should do to get the appearance back!

When trying to playback the timeline, for what ever reason... crash! Doesn't happen all the time, and not for any particular reason. Also, when I tried to export the project, it got to that magic 7% and crashed. Export settings were as follows:
-Quicktime Conversion
-H.264
-FR 30
-Limit:2500 KBs
-Key Frame Every 30
-Custom Res:872x480

I have a project where I have applied a vignette to multiple clips(70+) in the timeline. When I added the effect I first applied it to a single clip, adjusted some of the parameters until I was happy and then copied and pasted the effect onto all the clips.
I was happy until I came back to the project and didn't like the amount of vignette I used. how to adjust the vignette on all clips at once? If I adjust the vignette on one of the clips, copy and then paste attributes it pastes the whole effect onto the rest of the clips and 'doubles' the effect as it where. I just want to paste the adjustment I have made.

I have a wav file that I've imported, which sounds completely fine on regular playback but becomes very poor quality when imported into the timeline. I know on FCP7 you had to convert to an AIFF but I've not had this issue before on X.

So I've recently purchased a late 2013 27 inch iMac i7, 32gb ram, and for some weird reason my tracks don't stay synchronized. I always synchronize my videos, 2 tracks, in the beginning but for some odd reason it ends up out of sync towards the end. I tried the detach audio enter realtime method, it worked temporarily but it went back to the weird sync issue.

When I export the sequence I edited with quicktime, the playback video is very different from what I edited on the timeline. The playback has the clips with ins and outs that are way off than what I cut, and some of the clips don't show at all or have changed transitions. However when I play in the timeline in FCP, the sequence is fine, just the way I cut it.
The source of the clips was one long .mov that I cut into clips for the timeline. Everything has gone smoothly but the exported .mov is just so different. How can I get the time codes of the clips to be the same in the exported .movs? I just want the quicktime .mov to represent my edit exactly. can I play within the FCP player window and Log and Capture?

Recently my event clips and timeline clips have turned grey and no video imagery shows unless I pass the cursor over the individual clip. I was close to finishing this project and it plays in the viewer but making adjustments etc seems impossible. FCP is updated and I have restart the computer several times. I have used FCP for 3 years and have never had this problem.

I have been editing compound clips and when I get half way through i notice early clips in the timeline are missing. So if there is clips ABCD in a connected clip, it will be now AC and the other clips are now gone. I've pressed undo until i saw when they were deleted and it seems when i'm selecting clips later in the timeline it selects earlier clips and deletes them with the clips i want to delete. This is causing a major headache as it seems to be random, I can't replicate it on demand, but it happens eventually in ever compound clip I create. I haven't noticed it while editing a project.

Now, there is no parental controls set on his computer so thats not an option to trace back. Is there any other methods that I can attempt to see if anybody has tampered with his iPhoto account?

View 5 Replies View RelatedOkay, I am running OS 10.5, and one of my kids did something to the desktop that makes it look "jumpy". When moving the mouse, the screen moves also, since not everything fits on the screen any longer. To see the dock, you move the mouse down, but then the menu bar at the top disappears. It's almost like they did something to make the screen larger than the display, so not everything on the desktop can fit the display (iMac). Luckily, it is not my user account, but still, it is driving me nuts!!

I need to burn a DVD to play home videos in a DVD player. Since Apple killed off iDVD, I've wasted over 2 hours trying to figure out how I can create such a DVD-video. Someone suggested "Burn" but Burn only handles .avi or .mpeg files and iMovie only exports .m4v files. So any software, for movie in iMovie, exported it successfully, converted it from .m4v to .avi or .mpeghas successfully burned it to a DVD-Video, played it in a DVD-video player, to achieve this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedLately, every time I export a new movie from QT 7 Pro, I get a green image when the movie is stopped. It used to be that I could see that frame of the movie when I stopped it, but that's no longer the case. This is very annoying and difficult to use the movie if you have to identify a particular spot in the movie where something is happening. Is there a fix for this? My export settings are h.264, high quality, 29.97 fps, 24 key frame rate, frame reordering yes, multi-pass encoding, Sound is AAC, 48 kHz, mono, 64kbps, set to Fast Start.
