I'm lucky enough to be in Excel 2007 and have infront of me 3 columns of data.
As an example, in the first column is the colour of a product, 2nd = the price, 3rd column = quantity in stock.
Now I know that I can use an array formula to come up with a way of finding out the number of red products that are �2 and have 2 items in stock - unfortunately I am not sure how to do this!
I can't insert any exponential formulas in my excel. The ^ symbol (shift 6) does not work.

I write reports and I use office for mac because at work I need to read the reports I write at home with macbook. I use tables on microsoft word that are connected to excel. When I click on them the excel opens to may introduce formulas and text. If I close excel the table I modified on excell lays on word with the rest of the text of the report. My doubt is when I add cells to the table on excel....I can't visualize them on word...

I am experienced in Excel VBA on the PC but not on the Mac. I am building an application on my PC that will run on my sister's Mac (latest OS, Excel V14.0.2). The problem involves the use of FormulaARRAY in my code. I have extracted the problem statement into a small example routine shown below:

Here is one of the correct and working formulas that resulted on the PC (note the brackets for the array formulas are missing but they are there. I got what I am showing by using the 'display formulas' option which apparently does not show the brackets):

Here is the incorrect and non working formula that resulted on my sister's Mac: (again the brackets are there)
=SUM((MOD(COLUMN(R[5]C[465]:R[8]C[465])-COLUMN(R[5]C[465]),3)=0)*(R[5]C[465]:R[8]C[465]))
Both systems were set to display R1C1 Reference Style. This is irrelevant on the PC and I would assume the same for the Mac. I bought an old G4 for $60 to use to debug my PC code in the Mac environment. Curiously the code runs fine on it under Excel 2004.
I have a 122x122 matrix saved as a .csv file. The values in each cell range from about -2 to +19 and I'm trying to incorporate a colors gradient were depending on the value the cell is assigned a separate color. Another option would be using a 3 column data set and attempting a listplot where the first two points plot the point an the third somehow assigns the color.
Mathematica would be ideal, since I am relatively familiar with the software, though if R is going to b easier, I'm open to exploration- I'll just need more instruction.
Edit: I think one of the Excel surface plots may also work. When I create it though, it groups all of the cell values in 3 different ranges. Is there a way for me to change this so I can have quite a few more, and preferably be able to dictate the color for each range.
I am searching for a plugin, software or a solution for a situation I have with an Excel/Word Mail Merge.
It's a law firm we specialize in DUI/DWI and Reckless Driving defense. We subscribe to a data collection service that pulls data from various court systems around the state. We are then given this data by jurisdiction. The Excel files we receive come with 2 workbooks in one file for Traffic and Criminal arrests data with name, address, reason for arrest, etc, etc.
What I have been doing is opening each Excel file and copying and pasting into a new worksheet only grabbing the DUI and Reckless driving arrests because tis is all I am needing from the various files. I then save the new workbook and do a mail merge with Word from this newly created workbook.
Now my question is there such a plugin or software that will combine all the Excel files I receive from the Data collection house and then be able to filter out only the DUI and Reckless Driving arrests to a single Excel Workbook?
1. Turned the List Manager on by accident in Excel. Can't figure out how to turn it off now. I am using Excel 2004, and a MAC mouse - so no right-clicking for me...
2. How do I move columns in Excel? I select the column on top, but then try dragging it to a place I'd like it to move, but nothing happens. How do I do that?
3. General Mac Word/Excel question - how do I get to use "Home" and "End" buttons? When I hit them I simply jump somewhere, but not to the beginning or end of the paragraph. I am really struggling with the weather part!! I need to somehow pull the temp and if its snowing or raining from the internet into excel. I have all the addresses and zip codes for each property. I was thinking i could write a formula that looks at an RSS feed or website (like yahoo or Google weather) based on the zip code of the address. I could also write the formula that pulls the weather to excel then VLOOKUP the zip. Does anyone have any ideas about this?? I am not sure what to do!!

They had assured me of compatibility at purchase citing the new open format. The MAC Excel 08 file won't open on the MAC on which is was created with their Numbers program either.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I send my .xls files from my Mac (Office 2008) to my boss's Windows machine (Office 2003), he gets an error message when he attempts to open the excel spreadsheet: Excel has encountered an error and must shut down. I've sent files to other computers and not had a problem, and my boss has received other excel files and been able to open them. So it must be something between these two machines/softwares that is affecting it. Any suggestions or ideas? I can add any additional info you need.

I have an existing striped raid 0 setup with 2 x 500 GB hard drives.
I just bought 2 more x 500 GB hard drives since i noticed HDD is a bottleneck for my 8 core system.
my question is, can i add the 2 harddrives to my existing raid 0 partition ? (so i have one raid partition of 2 TB )
I want to copy formulas only from a previous worksheet to create a new worksheet. I am using this to do monthly accounts for 2012. Everytime I cut and paste the formula, it links it to where I copied it fror. I am worrried about saving it as I do not want to make any changes to the previous months. The person who created the worksheet is not available to do this for me.

Difficulty deciding between 1 or 2. Unsure about real world performance gain of 2. No experience with SSDs or RAID 0. Worried about alignment and sleep/hibernate issues. Stock 5400rpm 320GB will go inside eSATA enclosure. Does anybody have a good eSATA ExpressCard/34 to recommend? I don't care about the SuperDrive. But I'll keep it for Care warranty purposes.

Currently I've got the system disk setup in Bay 1 as a single disk. Then I have the disks in bays 2 through 4 setup as a raid 5. I've been thinking that I might be better off to make all 4 disks into a raid 5 array and then just make volumes for the system disk and my work disk. My goal is to have a system volume an a scratch/work volume for image and video editing.

I have two choices.
1. Apple's Mac Pro RAID Controller, Four Drives, RAID 0+1. One big disk, highest cost.
2. Or, some other RAID Controller (?), Three matching drives, RAID 5. Then, 1 big drive for OS/Applications/Time Machine.
I'd probably move my Home folder to the RAID Array and have just my data striping amongst those drives. Has anyone had a dilemma like this before? I like the idea of hardware separation of my Home folder from the OS.
how can i re-create a hidden lion partition after creating a RAID 1 array for Lion Server 10.7.3 My new mac-mini did not come in the array i'd expect it to come with being a server?

So if you use an eSata adapter (even if it has dual eSATA ports) it would only have one eSATA channel And that would be limited further by the express card slot and more still by the type of card (make, model, etc..). My question is: with Barefeats claiming even the best eSATA card for a MBP being 200MB/s (even if you claim less) using a dual eSATA RAID connection for a stripped array would be limited to 100MB/s per port. Is this correct? Because I'm trying to understand this to see if it's worth building a RAID setup for my MBP when I'm home.
I've asked this numorous times and get helpful advice but not addressng this specific and fundamental fact. I am not interested in FW800 because I want the fastest I can get but want it to make sense. I would also reask my other questions about my situation but this question comes first.
I work a lot in Excel for Mac and I have noticed an annoying feature that I can't seem to change. No matter how many times I save a document in "landscape" it keeps on reverting back to "portrait" every time I open it. I have tried to default to landscape but it has not worked.

What I'd like is for a function that can sort the categories into individual columns for the categories. So that this big list of purchases I have is sorted out into their own column that matches the category and then sums it too. Does this make sense? I was sort of avoiding any VBA for this but if thats how it has to be done then thats cool
Most of my company is PC based, but we artists are Mac based. We all work on the same Excel file, updating, saving, replacing. When we open the PC excel file on our Macs, none of the hyperlinks work ... then if we save something to the file, when the PC guys open the file, none of the hyperlinks work for them anymore either. We really want to be able to use Excel and not have to use VMware in order to update our file on the Mac. Any thoughts??

Also Excel needs to be off or PP will crash when opened. Word seems to be working fine. I have reinstalled Office 2008 now twice with no help. I have also updated to the lates 12.1.5 version and no help. I also tried to repair permissions and deleted the .plist files but that did nothing.
