I wanted to know if there was anyway i could get that back! i know windows had a setting that you could go back to a certain time and date on your computer, but im not sure if mac does or if there is anyway i can retrieve the edited version of my movie project that i created! someone please! help me!!! i am in need of assistance and this project is due tommorow! if you can help, please send me a direct email to tony@peppermintsandcigarettes.com i would be in your DEBT! thanks!
So I literally just spent hours putting together a video for school. I exited out of iMovie knowing it was supposed to save the file on its own. I open it back up to check on it and *poof* it's completely gone. I searched my hardrive and the file exists but it will not open with iMovie or Quicktime. Is there any way to recover this video?
Alright so I was making this video that was really really really difficult to do and I got to like 3:00 of it today and I've been saving, then it just freezes and refuses to do anything. I then realise my external drive somehow turned off for a random reason, so I plugged it back in and it started working again, but then I reopened my project and I get this error
I click on ignore all and it's all in the trash, and what really pisses me off about this is that it took me weeks and weeks and weeks of time to do, there's no way I can redo this all over again. What can I do to get rid of the skipped message and make it all work again
I was making a mix and I was almost done, and iMovie '09 crashed on me. I see it in the iMovie projects folder, but when I click on it, it loads up iMovie, shows the clip for a second, then disappears. How can I get my mix back??
A few years ago in high school trip to europe i made an imovie hd project. i am on a new mbp and i have a backup of my old mbp and when i transfer the file macintosh hd->user->movies->europe movie project it doesnt seem to bring the video with it (i cant even locate it!) i opened with imovie and the old imovie hd and the same thing, no video file! any ideas as to where the video files are located? im freakin out here lol
I'm in SL using iMovie (not iMove HD). When I make a project I can't seem to save it. Apple S doesn't work and there is no save option under any menu in it. Also, if I quit without saving there is no save prompt...
I am trying to export a two hour movie to watch on dvd after editing for 4 months, and was running on 12gb left on my macbook. I then tried to export it HD (8gb) and it eventually failed, saying it had no space left. Even though the movie wasnt exported, it took my 12gb left down to 4gb, so I tried high quality exporting, and it almost finished but failed right at the end, complaining of no space, and even when the file wasnt where I asked it to be it still took my memory away, now leaving me with 400mb. I am so annoyed, and
I want to know if I can export the movie to my external harddrive (plug in usb) as an mp4 file, and if so how? This would be a HUGE help as I dont want to have wasted so much time!
So i finished my first ten-minute long short film, i'm really proud of it. I wanted to share the whole thing in 1080p HD and then import it into after effects for some finishing touches. I did sharing < media sharing < 1080p hd.
1. Where did my movie go? it doesn't show up in iMovie anymore, and I found a big file over 1GB which appears to be my movie (but no way is it in 1080p, and I filmed with a sony HDR xr520v). I cant put that back into iMovie nor after effects.
2. Can I import this file into after effects cs4 and then re-export it in an equal quality?
I have been working on a project in iMovie for a few days, and it has been working perfectly. Today, I opened up my project and I could not play the project (the red line would move, but no picture would show up in the upper right hand corner box) and ALL of the options in the "share" tab were gray and unable to click them. Many options in the "edit" and "file" tabs were unable to be clicked as well.
Another project i completed months ago is working perfectly. The clips in the events play/show up on the window in the upper right hand corner
I've been working on avery complicated project all day with multiple layered clips with key frame animations, colour effects etc. All was fine until I opened a new project in the same event which I was going to use to create some effects sequences for the main project. When I went back to the original project it was empty. Tried the Undo function in case I had done anything stupid but it was greyed out. Went to the FCPX backups and the last file was almost 2 hours old but did not have any sign of this project. The only thing I have left is all the imported media.
Using FCPX 10.1.3. This is really annoying as all I have left is an h264 file of the almost complete project and it will be almost impossible to start from scratch.

I recently got a new mac and had backed up all my saved data onto an external hard drive with my old one. When I was setting up my new mac I recovered it from an existing backup (my old computer) and everything seemed to be back to normal. On my old computer I was in the process of making a video with Final Cut Pro X and made sure that it was backed up onto the external hard drive. On my new mac when I tried to recover it, it appeared as a file that couldn't be opened with FCP. Within FCP it had the video but all of the files were missing. I started to relink all of the files but there has to be a faster way. How do I recover this file? Is there a way to just import the backup without having to ever relink files?
I need to throw a iMovie I made to my friends HD from my computer, but I only have it saved as a iMovie Project and he wouldn't be able to watch it. How do I export it as a .mpeg or .avi? It's not under file in iMovie either. I only have the choice to import and no export.
For some reason FCP keeps crashing when I launch a particular project; just this one project! Others don't seem to have this issue. Sometimes it does get as far as loading all the sequences but as soon I I try a play any it crashes! I can say except copying the report below: By the way it mentions plugins but I don't believe (as far as I know) that I have any 3rd party plugins installed.
Process: Final Cut Pro [705] Path: /Applications/Final Cut Pro.app/Contents/MacOS/Final Cut Pro Identifier: com.apple.FinalCutPro Version: 7.0.3 (7.0.3)
Three crashes in a row, one even after rebooting. Different Projects selected and being selected. Crashes immediately after I select a Project in the Library Inspector, either by pressing and releasing the down-arrow key or by clicking with the mouse. Projects are newly imported, but have not shown any problems. Each Project that was the one being selected when Aperture crashed can be viewed in the Browser (confirmed afterwards). Aperture normal otherwise. C. 70K Images in Library.
First set of Projects with new camera (Nikon 1 AW 1 — gets my recommendation if you want a submersible camera with better-than-snapshot quality files) — but have not had any problems importing files or viewing Images or videos.
Did change the time-stamps on c. 1,500 Images a few minutes before crashes started. (Is there a dongle-doo-hickey-thing-a-jig that will sync the time settings on multiple cameras?)
Here is the opening of the latest crash log (from crash reporter window):
I have a project file that was created using iMovie 5 HD. In this project file were a large number of unused clips and also the final film, edited with transitions, backing music, end credits, etc.
However when I import this project file into iMovie 8 I cannot find the final edited film anywhere, just all the clips that were both used and unused within the project file.
How can I get the final film back without spending about a week re-editing everything?
Hi i need some help on how to get my imovie projects off my hard drive and back onto my computer. is there any way i can do that and if there is please let me know
I made an iDVD project a while ago and discarded everything but the DVD disk. Now I want to import the project back into iMovie to use it as part of another project. Is this possible? It seems like I could play it on the TV and then import it into the computer, but I have forgotten how and what equipment and programs that I would need.
Ok so I have my project in iMovie 09. I select a portion of the project, hit clip adjustments so I can speed it up, and then it just reselects the entire clip. Is there any way I just get a part of a clip and speed it up once it is my project?
I created a movie project for school, it is 3 minutes long. When I press the watch full screen the screen turns black and the mouse turns to a rainbow circle and then the application itself shuts off and asks me to reopen it. The same thing happens when i try to share the movie into itunes
I have a project I'm working on from a birthday party. What I'm trying to do is take a 5 second audio clip from a piece of video (a bunch of 3 year olds screaming happy birthday) and use it as audio over a still image to start the video. I detached the audio that I want to use, highlighted it and copied it. I can't figure out how to use it elsewhere. Maybe it's not possible to do this in iMovie 09?
