No major problem, I just like everything to be clear and not messed up with .ppt and .dmg.

i dont have a clue what happened, now whenever i reboot the desktop screen loads up icons and then the desktop gets about an inch bigger and offset, when i move my mouse the entire desktop moves along with it about an inch in each direction.
I'm not sure if this is the right category but I can't get control+click to work in my browser and I have no idea why. Does anyone know why this may have happened and how I could fix it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I set parental controls to automatically prevent access to adult web content, it also seems to be causing a problem with access to gmail, ebay, and some other websites. However, instead of getting the "oops!" message you get when you try to access an adult website, the page says, "Failed to open page. Safari can't find the server." When I change parental controls to allow all web content, the problem goes away. When I change it back, it comes back, so I'm sure it's the parental control setting.
I've already tried adding ebay, gmail, etc, to the list of allowed websites in parental controls, but it has not worked. How can I fix this problem?
I couldn't control my cursor on the screen. It was opening files and applications randomly. My screen was suddenly empty and show "loading application…” for seconds, then the screen went back normal again. I turned off wifi, but it didn’t stop my crazy cursor. then i restarted my laptop, but i still couldn’t control my cursor.

I have this bug. It is extremely intermittent, and apparently most people never notice it.
User "moot" mentioned it 2 1/2 years ago: Hide applications bug
Basically, I tried to Hide (cmd-m) an app, and at doesn't hide. But when I click on the app to go back to it, then it hides. After that, I can't get it to unhide. It usually requires a force-quit, with loss of unsaved files.
Has anybdy seen this behavior? Any clue about cause, or cure?
The only commonality I see with moot's system, is that we both use DragThing 5...

The video would be of me accessing an application, letting it run and then capturing all of this. Yet I would like it so that the mouse doesn't appear while you are doing this. Is is possible to hide the mouse cursor at will, so that it is invisible?

I have a 24inch LCD ACD display connected to my Mac Pro. This display all used to work OK, but now, read on. I had to send this 24inch LCD ACD display away to have the panel replaced. Since it has returned when I look in About This Mac/Displays it shows that I have an iMac connected as the display and now the brightness cannot be controlled. If the 24inch LED ACD is connected to my Macbook it all works as it should
I cant seem to find an app for this...
Some apps, like tweetie for example have a global show/hide shortcut. I want to set it for some of my other apps that do not have this feature built in, is there an app for that?
Does an app exist that hides all desktop icons in certian spaces? For example, I use space two for all my non-work things and would be great to hide the messy desktop this space.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have the worst internet speeds on the planet(Stationed in Iraq) and I found that hiding images in FireFox allows me to browse faster. But every one in a while I wanna see the images and i can't seem to find a way to flip back and fourth quickly. Is there a browser or a hot key i can bind? I know Firefox has an "exceptions" website list but that does no good because it only lets me see the images on that one address, not for an entire domain.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just been getting into Adium today for the first time and been customising everything but theres 2 things I can't figure out. I've been on Google for the past hour and I still can't find what I'm after.
First off can you hide the menu bar on your contact list? It looks horrible with some themes.
Secondly can you remove the service icons from your contact list? I hate having loads of MSN logos going down my desktop.
If anyone could help me on either of issues i will love you forever.

I then burned all of these files to a DVD and then deleted them from my downloads folder where they were always kept. Today I noticed that deep within ITunes, there is a folder called ITunes music and in that folder there is a sub folder called movies, where I discovered duplicates of the vid files I had previously deleted from my downloads folder which were imported by ITunes last year. I didn't know this could happen in ITunes!

I got a notice of an update for SMCFanControl to version 2.1.3.1. I installed it, and when it ran my fans went faster and louder than ever before! Normally surfing the web they were around 2000rpm. After the update SMC reported 7300rpm! I didn't even think they could go that fast.

After finding out that smc was the way to go, i reinstalled it. After reinstalling smc, it was never working properly like it was before i uninstalled it. When I make a favorite and then set that favorite on the menubar, the fans kick up to the speed i set it to for about 3 seconds then they return to the normal 2000 rpms. nothing I do can fix this. i have tried reinstalling, reinstalling different versions etc.

So I heard about this program smcFanControl and have been using it since, and it really does a good job keeping my computer cool.I have the left/right fans running at 6000 RPM (the max), is is SAFE for my fans to be running that fast? Will it significantly lower the longevity of the fans/computer at all?
View 4 Replies View Relatedcould not be sure whether the Admin user - password reset with the CD would be the solution to my question as suggested in previous threads I searched - and have no idea where my start up install CD is
So my question-
I was trying to put parental control to ask for password when my computer starts up. I did something I guess and messed up the info.
I can log in with my own account when I restart my apple - which says now it is a standard account (must have messed that up)- but can not make any changes on system preferences or anything else that requires login and password. It requires Admin info. My own login that I use now used to be my admin so do not have any other info set.
now on system pref - accounts - an account titled "test" seems to be admin but can not even access that and reverse myself to be the admin since I can not unlock system pref. Or cant click on "Login Options" for the same reason.
There are no other users on this computer than me.
What do I need to do to make myself admin again?
Hope this was somewhat a clear question
How do you control the margins in TextEdit?
I am trying to create a manual which includes some screen snaps which fit on A4 paper, but TextEdit persistently has fat margins and won't print the images that are wider than width allowed by the margins.
The screen grabs appear on screen but when I print the document the wider images do not print although they leave a gap in the text equal to their height.
I have:
Adjusted the preferences:
for window width which is in No of Characters (how wide is a character when you are using rtf?)
checked Wrap to window which shows a page view but the margins don't change
I have created an entire new page in Page Setup with fixed margins and selected it but nothing changes
Mac Help says the margins can be altered by dragging the page margin markers in the ruler, but they will not drag outside what seems to be the default margins, This wouldn't help with top and bottom margins anyway.
I have tried using Acrobat PDF as the printer but again I get no further options and nothing changes.
I am at my wits end. TextEdit is almost temptingly useful except for the weird UI.
