I am using iTerm and typically set the background to black and the foreground test to either yellow or white. However the cursor is not visible. I've tried every permutation of cursor types/colors and can't get a visible cursor. I am using the latest version of iTerm.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy mid 2013 MBP, 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 with 16Gb 1600 Mhz DDR with a 500 GB SSD running Mavericks 10.9.3 has, since upgrade to Mavericks, developed a tick. It will occasionally and erratically (some days nothing, sometimes once a day, sometimes twice or more) go black with cursor arrow visible and responsive. (Responsive=it's visible and moves as expected in response to trackpad) The screen comes back after 30-40 seconds or so, but not in response to any keypress or mouse movement that I can detect a pattern for. It just sits there, while I hit escape, spacebar, shift, cmd-option-esc, cmd-option-tab, mouse around, whatever, then comes back. System is fine, don't even get the beach ball. So it's a minor annoyance, except when I'm presenting to a roomful of people who are waiting for my machine to wake up, and that 30 seconds can be FOREVER. Which has happened twice now. When I'm connected to an external screen via thunderbolt that screen is black as well.
tried the fix of resetting SMC as well as Safe Mode boot to complete any unfinished OS updates. But the symptom is different, and those fixes haven't worked. I've never had a bad reboot, this condition just seems to pop up without apparent rhyme or reason. It's so infrequent and unpredictable that I despair how long it will take me to run bare and cycle through restoring background apps.
Anyone come across this? I 've been having it a lot recently on my imac, not my pbook though, and I can't seem to find how to fix it... very strange behaviour, as soon as you start writing the cursor vanishes...make for some very hard writing I tell you...

I am new to iWeb and I have built a site for my father in law [URL]. It looks fine in Safari, Chrome and IE. But a friend of mine has just sent me a screen grab from Firefox. I have attached it and there seems to be a character encoding issue.
Also is there a way of renaming the page name without effecting what is visible in the navigation bar?
I'm having some problems publishing a site I've created in iWeb 08.
When I publish the page I notice that the colour of the page doesn't take up the whole visible area in the web browser (it appears to be "pillar boxed" with a white bar on the right and left of the screen). Is there any way to apply the page colour to this area?
I'm running photoshop CS4 on an intel 2.4Ghz, 4GB RAM IMAC with Leopard. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this blasted cursor bug? The bug I'm referring to is brush size is not congruent with actual brush.

The video would be of me accessing an application, letting it run and then capturing all of this. Yet I would like it so that the mouse doesn't appear while you are doing this. Is is possible to hide the mouse cursor at will, so that it is invisible?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI currently have Steermouse installed but I only use it for this 'snap to' function - I only use the track pad. Are there any other apps (pref free) that provide this function? I am experiencing loss of cursor movement after hibernation and always have to restart the machine. I am going to un-install Steermouse pretty soon and then see if the problem still occurs. In the meantime if there are any alternatives it would be good to know. I am surprised its not a built in standard pref!

I noticed that finder is not displaying all files when I look at folders with lots of files in "icon view" mode but they do show up in "list view" Same thing happened with the computer at work. I'm using OS X Leopard on both.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my PowerMac Dual G5 2 GHz from OS 10.4.11 to 10.5.8. Now the Mac can't see my SCSI scanner (Epson Exprerssion 836XL). It doesn't show up under the system profiler.
Before upgrading, I cloned my 10.4.11 installation. When I boot from the clone, I can use the scanner with no problems. So the hardware is working and connected properly.
What is there about the Leopard system I can do to help it recognize the scanner?
The problem has survived system restarts, including restarts after complete shutdown.
this is actually on a friends laptop that I was updating with OS 10.5
Laptop is a MacBook 2ghz duo core, previously had 10.4 installed
There was problem with his drive, it was not partitioned properly. The HD was not showing up in the finder (on desktop or in devices list). I made a partition with a new name and archived his drive.
Upon installing 10.5 I can't login at all.. it only shows 'other' in the users list. Can't login as admin. Can't do anything.
Disk utility (when booted from system disk) shows the drive is fine.
Just kinda notice there's a red light visible through the front mesh, on opening the side door, the light seems to be coming from one of the four LED's on the lower memory riser. On closer inspection, the label says DIMM 2.
I've tried swapping, moved some ram about.. and the light still appears (on the same riser). Does this mean that riser has developed a fault?
I recently discovered that files saved onto desktop would not be visible. Whenever I save a photoshop document, recieve an adium file transfer, or take a screenshot with command shift 3, etc., it does not show on the desktop. However, if I drag and drop files from other folders onto the desktop or drag a picture in firefox onto the desktop, it shows.
I've tried these but the files wouldn't show:
-Sorting files by filename in the view options.
-Opening the desktop folder in finder.
-Renaming the files in terminal.
When I do these, the files would show:
-Restart the computer.
-If I list the desktop directory in terminal with the ls command, the files are visible.
-Move the file in terminal to another directory, the file is visible with finder.
-Dragging the above file onto desktop, the file shows.
I recently installed WinXP with bootcamp, wonder if that caused the problem.
I have a seven year old iBook G3 with (?) problems: it starts one out of hundred times, otherwise it displays the "unable to find the finder" sign (finder folder alternated with a ?), and yesterday it even showed me the forbidden ("broken folder") sign!!
So I decided to change HD and got a TOSHIBA MK1234GAX sold to me as compatible with my iBook G3:
First time I installed this new HD, I wasn't able to install MacOS X (earliest version) on it, since the HD wasn't visible to installer, so I installed the old original IBM 15GB HD back again: it started working without any explanation or excuse (maybe it just didn't want to give the job up...)
Then it started again working on a 1% rate, so I took out my screwdrivers and that was enough to get it working once more!
Until last time I turned the laptop off: the finder is nowhere to be found! I've tried almost everything, not even showing out screwdrivers worked; maybe it's easter pause or there might be some HD-Union sabottage strategy going on, or something...
So I'm trying my brand new 120GB MK 1234GAX TOSHIBA, but it's still invisible.
The title pretty much sums it up, both computers are in the same workgroup (HOME) and I can see both computers in each network overview (when you click network in my computer on both the mac and pc).

I bought my Mac OS X and a Lacie 500 gb mini hub hard drive back in 2007 and have had no problems with either until today.
I was attempting to move a quicktime movie (160 MB) from my mac desktop to the Lacie hard drive (which still has about 250 gb of free memory available). The process seemed to be hanging, so I rebooted the mac, and haven't been able to see the Lacie HD since.
The cables and the mini hub seem to be working (light on hub flashes), but it refuses to appear on the desktop.
I've since un-plugged and rebooted everything several times, but with no luck.
Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can do to recover the HD, please? I'd be seriously angry if I had to lose all the data I have on there, which includes pictures of my late father.
The 12-month warranty has long gone, and the Lacie.com site doesn't even recognise the serial number of my model when I went there for help!
What can I do?

The box opens up for the tools but you can't see anything in the box it's just grey. Same with the measurements. I've restarted the computer a few time, but no luck.

I have used drag+drop and by using the add to library instruction from the file drop down. I can see the folders and files in finder but they do not appear in inlayer under the music folder. This folder is empty but I have transferred purchased music from an ipod which is visible and playable. To confuse things further, all my applications have been moved over?

The PC is not recognizing the USB drive.

All my track file names and other details are visible in Itunes but none will play. single click on a track and an exclamation mark embeds at the front of the track name bar double click or click play and the error message I get says, "The song could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it? A search doesn't find it.
This applys to every track on itunes but music files in the music folder in Finder still play.

Running 10.10 Yosemite. Have not had trouble until this morning. Was working in mail and suddenly I could no longer see any emails.I closed out of mail & opened it again, that did not work. Turned off the computer. No luck. It still shows that I have emails and I can even send & receive emails. I just can not see them.

I have my Mac Pro connected to my hp c3100 printer. It is shared, all sharing options are enabled on the Mac Pro. 2 Macbooks and an iMac cannot find or see this printer. Networking, screensharing, file transfers, they all work fine. Just can't see the printer. Is AppleTalk required to do this? Here's some screenshots from the Mac Pro. I have never tried to network a printer in Leopard, I seem to remember it was easier in Tiger.
