I'm new to Macs and was in the middle of renaming a song that was currently playing on my itunes. I accidentally hit control + tab and iTunes froze/won't respond to any of my commands. I tried quitting with command + q but that won't work.
View 1 RepliesI have a 27 " IMac, version 10.7.3 and downloaded iTunes 10.6.1 (7) loads but does not respond. The deadly beachball just keeps spinning. I have restarted computer, reloaded profram, tried several times. Any ideas?

My system stops responding after opening iTunes(not always). This has happened twice with me. I had to shut the system down and re-start it again to make it work.

how I could setup Mail (Snow Leopard) to automatically cause my replies to mail sent to one of my accounts (which I'm trying to phase out) to be sent from another account? I currently don't have the account I'm trying to phase out configured for SMTP, so the message sending fails (and I want to keep it that way), but I have to manually change the address the message is sent from each time I reply to a message someone sends me at that address.

Recently I've been having a problem with my computer when applications would randomly stop to respond for a few seconds, until after a while they wouldn't start again and I'd have to restart it. Using Command + M means minimised a window. But in CS3, pressing Command + M out comes the curves. Is there a command key to minimise the image. When image open in CS3, it automatically occupy a small space at the top left corner but leaving a large space that I still can see desktop folders or files in the background. How do I default it so that it autmatically occupy the whole screen.

I'm printing to an Epson Acculaser C1100 via USB, which worked perfectly before the 10.5.7 update.
I've searched forums and other sites for a solution but drawn a blank. Here's what I've done so far:Twice reinstalled the 10.5.7 update using the Combo update option, repairing permissions before and after.Removed the Epson folder from the Printers folder in the library and reinstalled the drivers from the original Epson disk, from the OS X disks that came with the mac, and from the latest driver posted on the Epson site. Each time, no effect.Removed all references to Epson from my machine (via a Finder search) and reinstalled the drivers in the three ways listed above.
Each time the result is the same; when I click the print command or the print icon in any application the application spins the coloured wheel for a while then crashes.Some applications (such as Pages) report that the crash may be related to a file called EpsonPagePDE.plugin, which I've found and deleted from the library several times, to no avail.Updated to 10.5.8.The printer works perfectly from my Mac G4 laptop and from a Windows Vista laptop.In just about every other way I'm delighted with my conversion to mac 9 months ago, but this has me beaten.
Does anyone know how to do this? I've installed many Applications (compiling from source) with the command line, but how do I uninstall them?
View 16 Replies View RelatedWhen I hit Command Q, in normal cases it should fully close the app, but in my case its only minimising it and restores previously active sessions (eg. on Safari) However when i hit the x button it fully closes the app instead of minimising it.

Is there a terminal command that will display your external IP address? ifconfig and netstat only seem to report my local/network address, so I've been using curl and awk to parse [URL]. But I'd prefer a way that doesn't rely on an http call. Not to mention that my method will fail if/when dyndns changes the format of that page.

I recently installed Lync on my 2010 Macbook Pro to do some stuff with geektools. I want to now remove Lynx from my Mac but can not figure out how? I don't know where all the files are. Is there a terminal command to completely remove it? Or someone said something about a packet manager to uninstall it? I cant seen to find the right answer out any where. View 6 Replies View RelatedI use the Dvorak keyboard layout on my MacBook Pro, but like to use the Dvorak-Qwery Command option, which means that Cmd+* uses the Qwerty layout (When I try to use Dvorak for Cmd, I always end up pressing Cmd+Q when I don't mean to).
This works great in every app I've tried so far, except for one: Microsoft Word (and possibly the other Office apps as well). Initially, I dismissed it as a problem with Word 2004, and figured it would be fixed in 2008. I was mistaken - kind of.
I know Automator can click on files just by recording my own "Watch Me Do"s, but it never recognizes file dragging actions. All it will do is click on the file, then move the cursor after releasing the file. Is there a command I'm missing that will accomplish dragging?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was helping a friend by reformatting his pc and reinstalling windows because it was slow, when I was downloading the drivers for it on my MacBook Pro (didn't have access to the router since it's downstairs and his pc didn't have a wireless card), it downloaded a folder filled with locked files, it comes several folders deep and all of the files are locked, fun. So I tried to delete it using sudo rm -r, but it says I don't have sufficient privileges, anyone know a command I can use to delete it all? I'd rather not do it by hand, that'd take forever.

Yesterday I restarted my PowerMac G5 (dual 2.7Ghz) as normal. When it rebooted my system wouldn't respond to mouse clicks. I can move the pointer around the screen and the system even responds to mouseover events (e.g. the text when you move over an application in the Dock) but it won't respond to clicks. Funny thing is, I tried VNCing in from another computer on my LAN and clicking DOES work from there. I've taken the obvious step of repairing permissions, to no avail. I'm using 10.4.10 and wasn't doing aything unusual or stupid beforehand as far as I know.
