Applications :: ITunes Crashes And Nothing Shows Up?
Sep 21, 2010
Over the weekend, I replaced my 500 gig drive with a new 1 TB drive into my MacBook Pro. I used Time Machine to back everything up and did a restore with it. When I sent to use iTunes after the restore, nothing was listed in there but it did show my custom playlists, but only the names of the lists, no music listed inside. No music also was listed in the Music area. I then readded all my music and now when I go to music, iTunes crashes. But I also notice that it shows at the bottom I have XX,XXX songs taking up XX space. But the music area is still blank. I also notice in Videos, it is blank but shows at the bottom I have 1 video, which is correct and how it was before the restore.
When I rip a TV Series off a DVD then add the episodes to iTunes they go into the Movies section, is there a way I can add them to the TV show section?
I have a large collection of ripped (TV-on-DVD that i own) mp4s. I want to add these to my iTunes library (space is a non-issue). I import them by adding them to the "automatically add to iTunes" folder. iTunes auto-magically adds them to the "Movies" section. At this point i can group-select, hit cmd-I, and change them to TV Shows. Easy! The only other piece of meta-data I would like to add is the episode number. Is there a quick way to do this? Or do i have to hit cmd-I, add episode #, hit OK button, select next episode, repeat....?
I'm a first timer so forgive if this has been dicussed already.
Can anyone tell me why some TV shows on iTunes which were previously available in HD, are now only available in SD?
Two examples are Legend of the Seeker and season 5 of Lost (the promo content was previously available in HD). Also when I tried to purchased episode 11 of Fringe in HD and in SD, I recieved a message stating "THE ITEM YOU TRIED TO BUY IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE".
When buying HD TV shows off iTunes does it download the SD as well? And if so does it charge you more than $60? I just bought the HD version of Chuck Season 2 since I have seen Season 1 and looked at the download part in the iTunes and it has 44 to download. I noticed that is it downloading the SD as well. Is that really how it does it? I've bough Scrubs Seasons 3 & 4 before but those where just SD.
With the new iTunes 9.2.1(5), I seem to have trouble sorting some of my video files. Every video file (converted from .avi to .mp4 with Handbrake, using the "Universal Apple" preset) I throw at iTunes seem to be added to the Movies section. I tried updating the metadata from Get Info, filling out the Video tab with appropriate names, season number, episode number and episode ID. That didn't get anywhere. I tried putting "TV Shows" as a genre but that doesn't do anything either. I even tried making a new folder in the iTunes folder, naming it "TV Shows" and throwing videos in there.
Just purchased the season 5 for Lost Season 5 on iTunes, since it won't start broadcasting in my country for several months and I got tired of chasing each episode through torrents. Any way, if the first episode airs tomorrow Wednesday, when will it be available for download?
I have a bunch of episodes of The Office, but I want to sort them by Episode. Which is it? In Get Info there's "Episode Number" and "Episode ID" episode number seems to be the definite one for labeling which appears first in the season (what I want to do), but there's no option to display it in the normal showing screen. There is for Episode ID, but it doesn't seem to be the right one.
I am tired of having to download tv shows and movies and then having to buy external storage to keep my purchases. I would like to be able to buy from Amazon video, tv shows or movies and then import then to itunes. Amazon video will keep your purchases online and you can download and view when you want. Is there a way to import these type of purchase into itunes so can view on apple tv or iphone? If not amazon video, is there another opton that has an online library/storage system and allow downloads to be imported into itunes when needed ?
It won't open, at all, I've deleted every plist associated with iTunes, the cache, everything. It will only open if I do it manually through Terminal and that isn't perfect in my opinion. I have also downloaded it twice and installed it twice, same thing happens. They've pulled iTunes 10 from the download page.
My iTunes has started to crash after a period of time (often when I haven't done anything) and, when it happens, I can't kill it using Force Quit, killall, kill -9 or even sudo kill - I end up with a zombie process which stops the machine from rebooting.
The library is stored on a 1TB drive in a Power Mac G4, connected with a SATA card. It streams from there to an Apple TV in the lounge.
I've tried repairing permissions and even taking out the RAID setup so that it's now just on a single drive, but no dice.
I'm wondering if there's any way to get the artwork iTunes uses for TV shows for programs that I manually convert and ad to my library. Does anyone know of a method?
Get artwork the movie industry deems you unworthy to have. You've bought your content - enjoy it on your HDTV properly UPDATES TO THIS THREAD: 04/25: After a long time of doing this thread, I was talked into putting all the posters onto a site rather than relying on this thread and imageshack (which kept removing the posters). I will still take personal requests on this thread, but I will not be updating the artwork on it. The links to the art will remain, but I will *NOT* be updating them. The new website is: [URL] We are talking to the MetaX developer in hopes of integrating into MetaX's system and we're trying to initiate talks with the TagChimp developer to try to help him out as well. We'll see where it goes. Anyhow, enjoy the site and feel free to add and request over there. Welcome to the Unofficial iTunes Artwork Thread. Obviously you're a movie fan, either with a movie collection or you just like the artwork. Either way, we're in the same boat. The problem is that the movie industry doesn't like you to determine how best to view your purchased (and legal) content. They want to dictate it to you. As such, they don't support you watching a new DVD encode through your AppleTV or Mac Mini - much less offer the artwork to make it look clean.....................
I've been trying for over a week to find someone with a 20" ACD that has downloaded HD TV shows or movies from iTunes.
Just want to know if it renders well on a 20" ACD. I ask this because the 23 and 30 inch have HD in their name and I'd like some feedback before I purchase anything
I've had iTunes 10 on my PPC Mac crash twice in the past hour while playing SD video that worked fine in iTunes 9 here. The first time iTunes itself crashed. The 2nd time it caused a kernel panic. Has anyone else had any issues playing video with iTunes 10, particularly under Leopard or a PPC machine under Leopard? I'm about ready to go back to iTunes 9 at this rate.
I was asked to install iTunes 10 on someone's computer running Vista. I ran the full install, launched iTunes 10, and it immediately crashes with CoreFoundation.dll error.
I then I tried uninstall every Apple-related software and tried reinstalling, still no go.
I used 7-Zip to extract all the install files from the iTunes install package. I tried installing each separate and came to the conclusion it was the Apple Application Support. Everytime I try to install it, it goes all the way and then crashes with a weird matrix_blahblah error (I apologize, I'll get the correct error for you tomorrow).
Did anyone else encounter this? I tried everything, even replacing the CoreFoundation.dll file and registering it with regsvr32.
I just got my new 64gb ipod touch, and every time I try to sync photos on to it, iTunes crashes. I am running the latest versions of itunes, snow leopard and iphone 3.1. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
iTunes has been crashing for months when playing CDs (but it's fine for DVDs and the audio files on iTunes). ppc G5 iMac, 10.5.8. Twice on inserting a CD, again when the CD concludes, and often during playing, or when I try to adjust volume. It did this with a LaCie external drive and now that I've installed a new replacement Toshiba internal superdrive it still does exactly the same thing. After reading about the many bugs with v9.0.1 I obtained v8.0.2, deleted everything to do with iTunes and reinstalled the older version. However, the crashes continue unabated. Have run Disk Warrior, Tech Tools Pro5, reset the hardware pulling the AC plug etc., run Permissions over and over, thrown out prefs files, etc. No improvement. AppleCare on iMac is expired and no other forum has helped. Couldn't find another ap just to play CDs or I would use it! QuickTime doesn't work.
So if I sort my files in a list in iTunes and I scroll through the album list, it ALWAYS crashes. It doesn't happen if I click and drag the scroll bar, but if I do the two-finger scroll on my trackpad or if I scroll with my magic mouse, iTunes automatically crashes.
When I select a handful of movies(really my tv shows) and right click get info and change the media type to TV shows it will not transfer. Though I can do it one by one but really who wants to do that? Running iTunes 8.0.2
I now want to add my video media library to iTunes so that all my digital media will be in one place, and I can organize and search shows by genre, artist, etc. First, all my videos are .avi, so I figured that since iTunes accepts only .mp4 I have to convert ALL of them which will take SOO LONG. Any easy way of batch converting? Should I even store my videos and tv shows in iTunes, or do people do it differently? (I want to do something other than just putting them in folders)
But my main question is, because I store all these videos on an external drive, I simply want to link them to iTunes and keep them in their original paths, since they won't fit locally. I can accomplish this by simply un-checking the advanced preference option of copying the files to the default location, but that means I have to turn this off and then back on each time I want to import video. I understand this is not a HUGE deal but wanted to see if this was the proper/most efficient way of going about this.
I don't know why, but iTunes entirely too often on my computer. I use a 15" MBP running 10.6.4 (The latest version of SL). I'm using iTunes 10, but I was having this issue prior to the update. It crashes seemingly randomly sometimes when I finish an album, sometimes between songs, and sometimes just mid-song. Restarting seemed to help once, but it eventually started crashing again, and all subsequent reboots have had no effect. I have about 21 GB of music, mostly pirated (though let's not get into that debate); I listen to music by the album. My library is completely music (no TV shows, podcasts, etc.). Am I the only one sending them 20 enraged error messages a day?
I am wanting to organize my movies since I just bought a new Apple TV. I have a lot of movies in iTunes. They are in the Movies section of the iTunes Library. How do I move them to the TV Shows area of the iTunes Library. I am wanting to "clump" them into TV show playlists (i.e. all my Star Treks into "Star Trek")
In the Get info I set all data for TV Shows the same but one I downloaded from iTunes and others were ones I converted. How to I get them to group together.
I have been trying to redownload some past TV shows that I purchased over the years but I cannot seem to do it. When I look at my purchases only shows from this year show up. How do I access my whole collection?
