Im getting an error thats stopping the Burn process in iDVD ...
it says Error during rendering/encoding
There was an error during rendering/encoding of the menus/slideshows. The burning process has been canceled.
It offers no course of action so in Project Info I tried each quality, widescreen and standard, but each time I attempt to burn the dvd it will process the menus, render menu 1 of 1 and all 3 transitions and at the end of this segment I receive the same error message before it starts to process the slideshows of which there are three.
I've been trying for a few days now to get iDVD to save a disk image to my computer hard drive (since my Superdrive isn't here yet), but every time it'll crash at some random part of the encoding. The last time I tried it crashed within a few seconds, but last time it had encoded one of the three videos in my project before it crashed. It just "unexpectedly quits".
I have a 38 minute iMovie 09 video that I exported to iDVD. It stutters about a minute in to the movie. I have done the following:
1. exported a shorter version (1:48) into iDVD. The same thing happened.
2. exported this shorter version into quick time. Worked just fine. Don't know how to make a DVD that I can watch on a player from this though.
3. tried to export this shorter version to youtube. It said that "youtube reported an error"
Is it normal for the display not to go to sleep when idvd is rendering? I also tried putting the display to sleep using control+****+eject and then it just comes right back on, is this suppose to be like this?

The thing I hate about iDVD (besides it taking so long to burn video DVDs on Mac) is that the themes are more than I need and take up valuable disc space.
1. Are there any iDVD themes that are simply a menu...no music, no video clip previews, no sappy backgrounds, etc?
2. Is there a free (or cheap) alternative to iDVD excluding Toast?
3. I'd be using .mov or .mp4 as my source video.
4. I have iDVD 7.0.4 and am using Snow Leopard. I really don't want to pay for iLife 11 as I never use Garage Band or iPhoto. iMovie kinda sucks too.
I'm ripping my movie collection so i can access it on my iDevices as well as my apple tv. I'm using ripit to rip it to my mac. Then using handbrake to encode te movie to be compatible with my devices.Everything works great except after I encode the movie I lose the DVD menu. When I play the encoded file the movie starts right away. How can I preserve the DVD menu after encoding e ripped file? The DVD menu is preserved from then ripped file, it only drops after I encode it. I'm assuming handbrake won't or can't keep the DVD menu.Is there a way to preserve the DVD menu with handbrake or another application on the mac? I want to be able to access the DVD menu when I watch my movies on my apple tv.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOn my pc, I've been using Dvddecrypter + CloneDVD2 to make backups of my DVD movies. However, I cannot find a DVD re-encoding program for Mac. I know Handbrake can encode them to avi/mkv but that's not what I need, I just need to reencode my DVD's so they'll fit on a normal DVD-R (with a choice to get the menus and extras or not, ideally). Is there such software for Mac? MacTheRipper allows me to put the DVD files on hdd, but then...

View 4 Replies View RelatedI used quicktime X to screen record a skype video chat and im trying to crop it so that theres just the skype window and not my desktop. I used imovie and did this but the video quality is terrible when i export it (shadows are like flcikers of grays). Im wondering if theres a way to do this to keep te exact video quality ( when importing to imovie i clicked keep original quality but still turned out terrible after i exported it) or to simply crop the video i need out of the movie.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've shot a film on the RED one camera and our editor and colourist worked with Final Cut and in 1920x1080. I've exported this as a single Apple ProRes HQ Quicktime and used the 'DVD: High Quality 90 mins' setting in Compressor - and then used DVD studio pro to burn (all this is using Final Cut Studio 2).

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for some software that will easily allow me to change the encoding of video media. I have a couple of files in Matroska format at the moment, and would like to convert them to something more mainstream. However, ideally I could get some software that allows me to go from any-to-any (assuming I have the correct codecs installed?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince I've heard snow leopard incorporates 64-bit features, does this mean iLife '09 itself will encode movies faster, idvd encode faster etc.? I'm not familiar with 64-bit advantages.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a bunch of mkv video files with ass subtitles, and I've tried Handbrake, which is fine and dandy except it doesn't support .ass subtitles or the Xvid format. Anyone know a good video conversion software that supports encoding to Xvid/Divx, .ass subtitle, and mp3 audio?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAghh, i am so annoyed that i have to render everytime i make little changes i have to render the whole video project. I know there is a way i can render it once and just once. I heard of a program called MPEG StreamClip, but it did not work for me. The instructions i fallowed where: Open video, and drag it to MPEG STREAMCLIP. Export to Quicktime these are the settings i used....
screen shot here
According to the person who provided the instructions, i was only suppose to mess with the settings highlighted in the screen shot. Sadly, this did not help, i still have to render. Does anyone else do it differently?
I'm new to Xcode but I'm trying to learn it as fast as I can. I'm attempting to render in OpenGL but I have no clue how to render or link anything. Where are some good tutorials to get going Fast?
I've been using Safari, but suddenly it started displaying pages like this: [URL] I don't know why it's doing this or what caused it. And really, it's not the same as disabling styles because some things are still controlled by the styles while the whole structure seems off. I tried reinstalling, which did nothing. Not every page renders incorrectly (google.com is fine), but most do (youtube, hulu, apple.com, etc).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to burn an .avi file to DVD using iDVD. I've tried every tip on the web including, reducing the encoding quality & reducing the burn speed and de-install and re-install iDVD, but still manage to get the same message 'Encoding Video - There was an error during movie encoding' after having waited an hour for it to encode.I'm using iDVD '08 Vir.7.0.1 on a MacBook (10.5.8) with over 20GB of free space and 1GB of memory. The .avi file is 500mb in size.I've tried saving as a Video_TS folder rather than directly to a DVD, but still get the same error.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI would like to know which renders text better. In other words, where does text look better, on Safari or on Firefox 3.xx?
I am now using Firefox as my main browser and the things that bother me are the lack of Mac OS X integration (drop down menus, text boxes, no bouncing download icons, etc) but I can live without them because for me Firefox is technically superior...
I still have the impression though that the text renders best on Safari. Am I wrong? It seems to me that the character spacing works better on Safari than Firefox, not that the latter isn't any good. This thing could make me return to Safari again, so now I am trying Firefox out for the next couple of days.
I currently use iMovie version 6 to put low pixel rate (e.g. 480 x 360) clips together. I was wondering if FCP or some other app is much faster. I don't do much editing. Mostly just assemble chunks and render them into movies.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've read numerous posts here saying that its possible to use AVI files in iDVD to make a DVD, but I can't figure out how to do it. I have a series of AVI files that I want to burn to a DVD that will work on any DVD player but iDVD won't even let me preview them (I just get a blank black screen)...
I have VisualHub, but I'm not sure what to do...
I've done a few (well a lot) of DVDs now with iDVD using avi files on my hard disk with a view to either giving as presents or watching with the family on TV.
We do not want to hover around my laptop to watch a movie In about 90% of these iDVD created DVDs I get an error message from iDVD that there was a problem during encoding and if we try to watch them throgh the TV/DVD player then the film just stops about 75% of the way through.
I have a project already started in iDVD. When I try to add a movie to it, it says that my iMovie project can not be used yet because it hasn't been prepared for sharing. It tells me to go to iMovie - Share - Media Browser. When I do that and try to click on Share, nothing is available to be used.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi cant open idvd for some reason. it keeps freezing and i have to force quit it. what can i do? i was also wondering about just deleting it and downloading it again but where can i download it from?

I have iMovie 2.1.2 on a Mac G4 with a superdrive burner. I've captured video from my mini-dv camcorder and now I want to put it on DVD to be played on any DVD player.
I've tried a few of the "expert" settings to export it, but none do the trick as far as producing playable DVD's. I have toast titanium 5 and I don't have Quicktime Pro. I also do not have iDVD.
I have Final Cut Pro on this computer, but have no idea how to use it.
Is there a simple way to to export directly from iMovie onto a playable DVD, or do I need something else?
Is there any beneficial gain from one format over the other? Is one more well designed for widescreen?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI created a movie using IDVD, only I apparently don't have the kind of drive needed to burn dvds, so my questions (which is probably a stupid one) is how do I put it onto a dvd? I know there are external burners, but I rather not buy one. Are there any types of services that do that? I know there are ones for tapes to dvds, but this is already on my computer.. Can I save it and do it through a pc? Would I have to convert the file?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever I try to write an .avi (or .mov) movie with iDVd onto DVD, it says: 'content reach maximum duration, pls remove some content' for movies over 700MB. That's without adding chapter markers etc...
I've tried using MPeg Streamclip and Prism to convert them to smaller sizes, but without any luck, they just come out bigger.
