So, I know in Leopard for some reason apple disabled IM sounds if you get IM's while video conferencing. Is there any hack or anything that you can do to disable that so while your vid-caming, you can hear the IM sound and not for it to be muted???

I've checked all the option in system preference. the "Restore Windows..." option is checked. I've, also, looked the logs with the Console when i lock the session and when i unlock it. I see anything.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAlright, this iChat mulitperson videoconferencing has me stumped. The first time I tried it out, I had the video conference running with one person and I just double clicked the video camera icon of another buddy online. The video window changed to both people with my video feed between and below them. I closed the conference, but now when I try it again I just get a message saying one of my buddies can't do multiperson conferencing. What's going on? I would think it was firewall settings or something, but I HAD IT WORKING! I didn't change anything either.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi have a small business that requires me to communicate frequently with clients in other markets. i would like to use iChat on the AIM network to video conference with these clients. i was hoping to somehow get my wacom taboo tablet set up as well, so i could somehow draw figures and have them appear either real time or in a drag-and-drop fashion to my clients.
thus far, video conferencing works superbly but only with mac users.
video conferencing has been almost impossible with clients using pc's. i often get one of three error messages: either ichat says the client denied my request to video conference (despite their accepting the request), the request times out, or it says an unknown error occured and it asks me to report it to mapple.
in regards to the wacom taboo tablet, i have been using goggle docs as a work around of sorts, where i share permissions to a doc with my client, draw my figures in that document, and the doc refreshes every 3-5 seconds on the client end.
my set up is a macbook air revB/1.86/ssd, 24" cinema display, and a time capsule as my router (i also have a linksys i can switch to if necessary)
1) i have tried skype, and the quality was just terrible. i desperately need a fix to this yesterday, and welcome any advice.
2) any thoughts on a better way to display my tablet-drawn figures real time?
So my brother and I just upgraded to SL and we decided to do a video chat to check out the new quality. The quality is nice the only problem is... there is no sound! If I initiate the video chat, he can hear me, but I can't hear him. If he initiates it, the opposite happens. Anyone else try iChat yet between 2 SL computers and have the same problem?

I'd rather not mute the entire system as I would just like to mute incoming audio when I'm on webcam with my girlfriend. When I was on my PC and used AIM for webcam, there was that option.
I just logged into iChat and noticed the green icon is only a telephone symbol, not the usual video.
So I go into Preferences > Audio/Video and the video preview is now a white box with the text, 'This computer does not support video chat'.
It's a brand new MacBook Pro, iChat has been working fine up to this point. I re-started and still the same message.
Is it just me or does Skype have the superior audio and video quality?
Whenever I do some audio or video chatting it seems subjectively better than iChat. (Both on a Mac tried close after one another.
I am attempting to access my iChat preferences to add a GTalk account. When I go to iChat->Preferences and click, I am taken immediately to the Audio/Video preferences, where I see the video of myself, bluetooth setup, etc.
I can not figure out how to get back from here to my normal iChat preferences, or how to open my iChat preferences normally.
When I try to start or accept an invitation to a video chat, my preview image doesn't "shrink" at all! It just stays the same & of course I can't see my friend's image.

Ive also noticed i dont pick up on the little things, like the other persons typing either. I have gone through and looked at all input settings on the mac and in the application. when I pull up the settings box, I can even see the sound "bars" go up when I make noise. But no noise in the recordings.

I tried messing around with it but didn't get too far. Does anyone know the best way to help set the audio right? Is there a feature I'm not seeing, or will I have to export the sound from the whole movie and add it back in as an audio track to the movie?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't figure this out. A few days ago noticed iChat and Mail were not making any sounds when they were supposed to. I double-checked the settings a few times and everything was right, sound events were suppose to take place. I restarted and it resolved the problem.
Now, a few days later, I'm having the same problem.
I am new to video editing and am currently looking for a software for Mac to put together a slide + sound show. I am looking for a software that will allow me to play and edit the slide show and music at the same time, i.e. I will have the show and the audio track available for editing on the screen at the same time. The slideshow is a series of jpegs, that will have 3 to 4 timelines running together at the same time, each timeline will be fading in or out or dissovling at the same time so that the transition will create a new image through layering the timelines (am I making sense?).
For the sound, I need to be able to mix multiple tracks and while the show is playing and will be able to increase/decrease the volume of individual tracks at any point of the show. Final cut will suit the video need of my show, but not the audio need (if it does, please let me know), while sound booth will satisfy my audio needs (but I cannot put them on the same screen). I am looking for software that will do the show + sound editing job on the same screen and will not cost as much as FinalCut or Soundbooth. It would be great if there is a good free software.
Does the new Quicktime capture on screen video with sound? If not is there a way to do it? Other good reliable programs out there that do what I am looking for?
i just got my macbook a couple of days ago and i was so excited about using ichat with my sister....but the problem is that i can barely hear her when we use ichat....i also use skype to talk to her and she was supersonic loud compared to the whisper she was in ichat. i was just wondering if i could modify how loud the sound comes in other than turning her up which doesnt help at all in ichat?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 12 Videos in .mov format that I saved from .wmv format using quicktime and flip4mac. I have also tried saving them as AVI and same result.
Here's the problem, when I put them into iDVD and save as disk image to check, the videos are there, but no sound. I tried also burning them to DVD, using a maxell DVD-R 16x, and all the will come up on the dvd is the title menu. Movies will not play on my macbook or in the dvd player on TV. I tried using the .avi format but there still was no sound, and the movies were really choppy.
if i try to use iMovie, it will not even import these .mov files (doesn't let me click on them to import)
is there another format i need to export to, or change some setting to get the sound in my project, and get the movies to play have i burn them?
All the movies are approx 1hr long except one, and I was using the best performance setting putting 2 movies per dvd.
i have a JVC Everio camcorder and when ever i try and upload a movie into imovie 08 the picture is there but the sound is not.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble video-chatting with iChat. I've asked for help here before and i was told to but a larger RAM so i bought a 2gig RAM. Immediately following the purchase video chatting worked very well; however, recently it has been giving me trouble. Whenever i try to video chat with somebody (mainly my brother who has the same computer, same RAM, and better bandwidth) the program tells me either that i don't have sufficient bandwidth or that my brother didn't respond to the invitation when i know for a fact that he did respond. Sometimes iChat tells me that my computer doesn't support video conferencing even though the camera works very well. The only thing that has changed since the last time that video chat worked is the room that i am in at college; the bandwidth should be exactly the same as when video chatting did work. The RAM is 2BG 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM and my brother has the same kind. We both have Mac OS X 10.5.5.
