ITunes :: Why Cannot Stream Audio From Movies Over AirpPlay
May 5, 2012I use my iMac as my TV, entertainment center, etc at home and I stream audio from there to an Airport Express hooked up to my stereo. Using Airplay in iTunes and third party apps like Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil this works for just about anything: my music library, live TV through EyeTV and non DRM movies...but I like to download rental movies from iTunes and for some reason I can't stream audio from iTunes movies. I understand that this is a documented limitation of iTunes and Airplay, and there can be some issues with audio and video getting out of sync due to the buffering, but if Airfoil can do it, why not iTunes? The Airfoil video player is pretty basic, but it compensates for the buffering delay without any problems, and I can even use VLC to manually add a delay into the video track.

Aug 23, 2014I'm using OSX 10.9.4.
My 500 GB hard drive is getting full, so I moved my entire ITunes music library (160 GB) to an external hard drive, and then moved the iTunes Media folder to the trash, and deleted it on my Mac. The moved files are playing fine from the external drive.
Surprise!
No disc space was freed up at all, because iTunes (I guess) cleverly backed everything up automatically.
I've tried to find these backup files in order to delete them -- to no avail.
How do I get rid of 160 GB of backups??

Nov 14, 2009iTunes doesn't seem to play WMA streams. I saw some info on the net about saving the stream in Quicktime as a .mov and then dragging the file to the iTunes library, but trying to save the stream in Quicktime just produces a 'Saving' progress bar which progresses at a glacial pace - I think it would never actually finish. Another method mentioned using Flip4Mac but it may be referring to an earlier version as the Preferences panel is different to that mentioned in the instructions (which are a few years old).
So, are there any other ways around this? I'd like to be able to drag the streams into my 'various Radio stations' folder so I can treat it like an mp3 stream.

Apr 30, 2010I like to stream from my iMac wirelessly to my stereo. I have a 1st generation aluminum iMac running OSX10.6.3 and stream to an Airport Express basestation. I run the latest version of iTunes.
Whenever iTunes starts to automatically download podcasts that I subscribe to the streaming stops or plays with lots of sound drop-outs. It is incredibly annoying!
Sometimes I can't even surf the internet without getting sound drop-outs? What can I do to improve this?
I always keep my Macs clean so I don't have tons of third party plugins installed - for the very same reason
I have 8 Mbit download and 2 Mbit upload.

May 21, 2012It was good that Apple added the much needed "Delte" Featuer to Photo Stream. The next issue that came a long for me is: Photo Stream still saves all photos I take into my iPhoto library.
So, even though I choose "Delte" in Photo Stream there is still a copy saved in my iPhoto library.
Usually it creates an event and names it "May '12 Photo Stream" or something similar.
Then I again have to go into this event and delte the photos a second time.
Is there a way to disable this feature?
I would like to manually add photos from Photo Stream to my library.

Jul 21, 2010I had a hotmail account and about a month ago apple mail deleted all my messages from the hotmail account, therefore I am unable to access any of them from anywhere else except my mac.
I learned that that was due to me leaving the box "remove copy from server after retrieving a message." Now I fixed that and moved to gmail, as I was able to upload all hotmail messages to my gmail account through tuhunderbird.
Since I am not a big fan of Thunderbird as it is giving me some password issues, today I set up the gmail imap (I think) accunt on my apple mail, but there is no box "remove copy from server after retrieving a message" for gmail in prefrences, just for hotmail.
Now I am scared, will apple mail delete all my messages from the gmail server, and if it will, how do I prevent it from doing so?

Before it was annoying, having to purchase both the regular video and HD video, then delete the unwanted HD download from my queue list, but now it's a problem. I can't empty the unwanted HD downloads, and for me to download them all will tie up my connection for a week or more.

Sep 11, 2008For uncompressed music on my iPod, I drag the AIFF files from the CD to my desktop, then from my desktop to my iPod in iTunes.
From there I am able to use Get Info to edit the artist, album, genre, track info, etc., and that all works fine. But I am unable to associate album art with the uncompressed files.
I copy and past the artwork into the Artwork box and click okay, then nothing happens, it's as simple as that.
I tried selecting a couple uncompressed tracks AND MP3 tracks at the same time and "mass editing" the artwork, and only the MP3 files are changed, not the uncompressed files.
