I was watching Apple's event on quicktime , and the whole 1:30 hour show streamed with no pre-downloading on my slow internet connection(512kbs at best) while youtube videos of 5 and 10 min will take very long time to load, actually they won't stream ever, all the time they will need to be downloaded at first, this goes for html5 AND flash. what is this technology apple is using to stream video? Why can't other websites utilize it as it is much more convenient? can you benefit using it on your own personal website?

I just went to a Apple store and tried a HD episode of CSI Miami on both a 1.6 HDD and 1.8 SSD.
After a while I realized the graphics was more blocky on 1.6 than the 1.8. No matter what I checked and stopped I could not change it. No other program was running, I let ot rest etc but still it had more choippy graphics.
And yes, I made sure it was rev B not rev A...
Btw, they both had 'the lines'.
If graphics is determined by the graphic card and they both have the same how come the video was not the same quality? Is it really the .26 GHz that made the difference???
I was almost ready to go for a 1.6 HDD but now I have to reconsider.

I'm trying to use an AVCHD camera to stream to UStream as a webcam.
UStream doesn't detect the camera, even when change the Adobe Flash Player settings and the UStream capture device settings.
How can I get it to work using USB?
Is it also possible to use the HDMI port on the camera?
Is there such a cable that converts HDMI to Firewire 800?

I just want to play DVDs and video streams from the macbook pro through my TV monitorCan anyone suggest the simplest way to to this ? Some are telling me that I need to buy a costly "converter box" and like 5 other pieces of equipment (totaling close to $200)Am I correct that I will need a VGA to S -video cable ? If so, is this a simple purchase ? I've got the mac adapter but just need to know what kind of cable is needed to play video/audio from the laptop through the monitor.

I have 2 iphones and i wanted photostream. I got ICLOUD on my PC and it worked fine FOR FREE. My Macbook Pro said I need to upgrade to Lion in order to use photostream. I like my Mac as is but felt okay. It then costs $32 to upgrade-- just to get photstream. Okay so I did it. Then I go to ICLOUD and photostream is not highlighted. Under "learn more" I find out I need to upgrade my software--which I do . Then i find out that i need to go to the App Store and PAY to upgrade my IPHOTO for like another $16.00. I called Apple as there is nothing that says there will be another charge and frankly for $40 plus I can just plug in my phone. I am really angry and have not paid for the IPHOTO app that I dont want. There is nothing even in the forums I read that says there will be another charge.

Being as ferociously excited as I am about this (and I know a lot of you are too), anyone know of any news of a live stream for this?
Apple had one for their media event in September where they unveiled their new iPods but I can't remember how far in advance they announced that there'd be a stream. The stream quality for that was terrific, I hope they repeat this.

I am interested in purchasing a 15" macbook pro (unless someone has a compelling reason why a 17" would be better suited to my needs). My primary concern is battery life and capacity decay over time. This computer will be used to produce photo and video content primarily at football games, and need the battery to last about 4 hours (absolutely no less than 3) under intense and constant use to include some pre/post-game content. My needs from a laptop: Store 21mp RAW photos in real timeStore 1080p video in real timeEdit live 480i video feed from 3 cameras, output as low-res stream to web

I've been looking around all afternoon and can't seem to find out how to get the built-in iSight on the new 15 inch April 2010 MacBook Pros to take pictures and record at 1280 by 1024.
I've seen numerous places link me to Mac Daddy World, but that test app is only yielding 640 by 480.
Many places have also recommended to use Quartz Composer, but my knowledge of the program is limited, and I was still only able to get a 640 by 480 stream.

why do videos from a shared photo stream not appear in iPhoto? Within iMovie, it appears as though videos can be imported from the iPhoto library. However, within iPhoto there are no videos that appear within the Library. Is it possible to import photos into iPhoto from a shared photo stream? if not, how can videos be imported into iPhoto?

I have a iMac as our main computer which has the main iTunes account. I have a ethernet connection off a Time Capsule/Air Play Wireless to that. I just got a Apple TV 2 and that has been working nearly seamlessly via a wireless connect from the Time Capsule The problem is with the Mac Book Pro (early 2011, 17", 2.2 ghz Intel Core i7, 8GB DDR3, AMD radeon HD 6750 1024 MB Graphics, all updated on all software)What my twist is that when I start to stream a tv show from iTunes via home sharing it will play for 5-20 min and then just stop and return to the main iTunes menu This occurs on TV Shows purchased from Apple, From DVD's I have ripped with HandBrake and Bit Torrents I have also ripped with HandBrake (Into Apple TV 2 format) I've read over and over the Apple suggested trouble shooting. The only non Apple product/software in the mix is Norton for Mac on the Mac Book and the iMac however I have turned off the Firewall on that as well as experimented with turning on and off the Mac Firewall I have a older router from my ISP however the Apple TV is working fine so I *think* that has been elminated

First of all, my (stand-alone) DVD player has recently broken so I'm currently having to watch DVDs either on my MBP or hooking up an old Powerbook to my TV and connecting it via VGA cables (old TV that doesn't have HDMI). I will buy a new TV when budget permits but wondered if there is anything else I can buy as an alternative.
AppleTV looks OK but I only watch a few movies from iTunes. I still hire DVDs, movies for the kids mostly, and also watch TV using the Slingbox application. Neither of these will work through AppleTV.
So is there anything that I can connect to a TV and stream everything, the whole display rather than a single application like iTunes, from my Mac? I just need something that will replace long cables stretching across the living room.

When I stream through my Xbox 360 it works perfectly fine, the buffering prevents any jitteriness or stuttering. However when I try and stream on my MBP it gets jittery after about the first 3-4 minutes. For the first few minutes it is fine.
Anyone else have problems streaming from Netflix?
