View 4 RepliesI've been googling for and app that would let me convert real media files to format that would let me burn them to dvd and play on a dvd player and that can also be played in quicktime. A free app maybe?
View 2 Replies View Related've been using Real Player and the Real Player downloader to download YouTube video clips, and until yesterday all was fine. Yesterday evening however, the downloader decided to stop working and now just sits there doing nothing when I play a YouTube clip. Real Player itself works fine.
I've already trashed and reinstalled Real Player twice but to no avail. The odd thing is every time I've reinstalled it it has remembered the clips I'd been playing before I trashed it.
I am having the problem of my iMac freeszing and becoming unresponsive. I can move my mouse curser around the screen, but nothing is responsive. Tried a force quit using the keyboard but that doesn't work either.
I have to power my iMac on then off to restart.
I think it may have something to do when I launch iTunes, and I am using CPU intensive applications? This problem has occured recently when i have been watching YouTube videos, then launched iTunes. Also on another occasion when using Ableton Live, then launched iTunes.
When my iMac reboots after the freeze, and launch iTunes for the first time the "Checking iTunes Library" dialogue box appears and takes a while to load before iTunes launches. My iTunes Library is quite large, 55GB.
Anybody got any trouble shooting advice? I know the console app shows errors but am not very sure what to look for.
I'm running 10.6.4 and iTunes 9.2.1.
RealPlayer downloader pops up and download stuff randomly everytime I visit a page on firefox! How can I disable it?
This didn't happen to me when using Windows.
Anyone know of any way to download a Real Player stream as an mp3 or wav without having to manually analog record the entire thing using an audiohijack app?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am a big rugby fan and like to listen to my team (tigers) play when there not on TV. However this requires real player. Having had a bad experience with this program in the past I am reluctant to install it again. Is there there any plug in I can get for os x and vista so I can listen to the radio without installing real player?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIm trying to download videos from youtube and other websites. I downloaded the real player from the real.com website.
In windows, if we wish to download, we move thw cursor to the video and a small tab pops up saying "Download". We click on it, it downloads.
Now in Mac, there is a add on called download manager for real player.
I watched a few vieods over the youtube, to guide myself. Instructions were to open real player and download manager.
Then open the link in safari or firefox where your video is and play it, once the video starts streaming, it should appear in the download manager, and i should be able to download it.
But when i follow all these procedures, the video is not appearing in the download manager.

If you are in a Virtual OS, is there a way to detect the real OS you are in?
e.g. I have XP running in Fusion in SL. Is there anything that VMware might be doing to XP that would allow someone to realize (while connecting to them in XP) that I am in an OSX environment?
I have the new Macbook with Snow Leopard. How do I get DVD Player back? I put the applications disc in and DVD Player didn't show up...
Also I have the OS X disc but I don't want to reinstall my OS and wipe all my data.
So how do I get DVD Player back?
I have Firefox 3.5.3 running on PowerPc iMac with OS 10.4.11. When I search for a bookmark in "Organize Bookmarks" window, the found bookmark shows as 'location" the web address. However, it does not show the location of this bookmark in my bookmark tree. So I really can not find where this bookmark is located which was my problem in the first place. If this bookmark was misplaced in one of the folders I can not find it to move to the right spot. Is there any way to find the real location of this bookmark with the search and in any other way?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSurely I'm not the only die hard sports fan on here who can't live without constant updates from RealGm. But am I the only one that uses safari to view it? (or tries to?).
I searched but couldn't find any topics on this, but I can't for the life of me get safari to properly open forum topics from real gm. It will work 1 out of 7 times perfectly, the others not until I refresh and refresh (and even still it doesn't load all the page).
understand as it works perfectly on Chrome and FF.

I know that when I delete a file the data is still recoverable from the hard drive until it is replaced by other data.
So I'm looking for a program that wipes any data (preferably with the Gutmann Wipe method) off of the rewritable parts of the hard drive. Is there such a program for the Mac?
New Mac user here. I'm a webdesigner and would like to have a real color picker that picks... REAL colors. I've got the "Hex Color picker" application [URL] which integrates with the built-in color picker in my iMac but it doesn't find real colors when I pick up color from webpages. EX: Real color: #e8effeWhen I pick it up from my page, the Hex Color Picker tells me this is the color: #e2eafe which is not.Little annoying when you're a webdesigner. It's somewhat important to get the real colors.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just read at a Wiki Limewire entry that in a small sampling, thirty percent of downloaded files had malware. Do you feel this is true? I've used it quite a bit in the past. Is there a way to purge my Mac of any malware, without erasing the entire drive?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have just become the latest victim of a Skype account hack (the usual thing - they change your password and email so you can't get back in, and then use up your SkypeOut credit), and I've lost about 10 euros of credit. What worries me more, though, is the fact that my account was hacked despite only being used on a Mac. Any ideas as to how this might have happened? I have the OS X firewall switched on, and have WPA2 security activated on my AirPort Express.I know that malware isn't usually a concern with Macs, but is it conceivable that I have something nasty running in the background? If I have, I have no idea where I might have got it from.

Safari 4 seems to provide a warning when Google has tagged a website with potential Malware. I don't know if this Malware is Mac or PC but thought it was interesting. I've attached a screenshot to see what I mean.
I have had a MBP fro myself for about a year 1/2. However I am now using it for business purposes and due to this I will be using it to do remote access to many client networks and have important documents on this Mac. With this in mind, I need extra security and am trying to find the best AV/spyware/malware software for my Mac. What software is the best. I know that Macs barely have ANY viruses that are in the wild but I cannot risk client security.
View 6 Replies View RelatedBoth Google results and Safari warn that contains malicious software. Does the warning dialog appear for you too?
Google Safe Browsing Diagnostics reveals this: http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/d...erss.com/blog/ which leads me to believe that third-party advertisers may be responsible for this. The developer David Watanabe is very well respected which is why this warning came as surprise.
Curiosity got the better of me and I browsed at my own risk, now I am extremely paranoid. Here's hoping it's one of those 'Windows things'.
im playing a song in itunes 9, not al the time but enough to be annoying either itunes song jumps and the whole mac will freeze for a split second and do this untill i stop playing the song or the song will play fine and for example safari will freeze for a split second and i can't do anything and it repeats until i stop playing the song again, anyone else had this
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having a bit of trouble trying to get a 4gb Memory Stick Duo to mount on my macbook running 10.6.2. My camera doesn't recognise the card when inserted and neither does my macbook. When I try connect it to the macbook I get the "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" with three options of: Initialise, Ignore, Eject. When I view the card in disk utility the repair and verify disk are greyed out as the screen shot shows. It says it is a 33mb disk when it should be 4gb and the SMART status is not supported and Partition Map scheme says it is unformatted. The format should be FAT (I think). It seems the card could be corrupted in some way or worse dead. Is there anyway of trying to recover the files, which are all photos?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI think I may have a dead pixel in my MBP. I've got the October 2008 model, the LED display. Today I noticed a little grey-ish speck in the display. And trust me, it is IN it, not ON it. Believe me, I wouldn't be wasting anyone's time if this was something that could simply be cleaned off. It is not visible when the display is off; when that area is dark, the spot is visible as a lighter grey as compared to the surrounding area; when that area is white/light, it appears as a darker grey color compared to the surrounding color. Having said all that, I have still cleaned the screen thoroughly several times but to no avail. It is visible from the boot screen (white screen with the apple) and as long as the screen is on, but again it disappears when I turn it off. From all this, I gather that it is likely a dead pixel. I have reset the PRAM and of course that didn't help. I called Apple and they agreed with me, so I went ahead and set up an appointment for the Genius Bar (almost an hour away).
