View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a 21" monitor ATM. It's got one DVI port at the back, which I'm currently using to power my Xbox 360 and my MacBook. I get really frustrated whenever I need to switch between the two because I need to go behind the monitor and undo one and plug in the other. I looked up to see if there was some sort of A/B switch that I could just hit a button and it'll go from 360 to MacBook but all the options are actual small boxes at around $100.
View 4 Replies View Relatedso im looking for a DVI splitter for my MBP (DVI out) so that i can display to my external monitor and my TV.... any one have any recommendations?
Im not trying to have different images on the 2 externals, i am fine with the same thing on both!
I have a late 2008 MacBook Pro and while I think it's cool that I can use iPhone headphones with it I miss using my old school analog headset with a boom. I use skype for calls and find that people have a hard time hearing me with iPhone headphones. Is anyone aware of a splitter for that jack so that I can connect a headphone line and a mic line? I've seen lots of solutions that have a built in mic but I was hoping that there's simply a splitter out there somewhere.

I plugged in 1 external monitor and it displays 1680x1050 resolution on that monitor which is perfect. What can I expect if I split that DVI output with a DVI splitter to two monitors?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am going to buy a Mac Book Pro 13 inch 2.8 ghz. I was wondering if there is a way to get my mac to hook up to 24 tv's. I use them as mointors.
They both have HDMI and VGA/sound. I noticed that apple said that the MBP could only hook up with 1 thunderbolt on the second the mbpro would go dark. But I was hoping to work around that. I found this device on the internet: [URL] I was wondering if it would work so I could have My email up on my macbook pro and on tv 1 have safari up and on the second tv have itunes up? I do not want them to mirror! I want them to both extend my display!
have some nice earphones with attached microphone that I use for my iPhone as well as when I'm using my laptop but I have been using Skype a lot lately and would like to use the attached microphone instead of the built in microphone on my mac book pro.The problem, obviously, is that the laptop has two separately jacks for input and output. Is there anything that splits a single TRS into two inputs?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy goal is very simple for the time being.... run my 2 LCD monitors together so I can have double the desktop space. I plugged everything in properly and it seemed to work right away at my pleasure. However, then I quickly started getting real pissed off.. If you guys have ever looked into the "displays" option when you have a mac hooked up to any other kind of external monitor, there is a "mirror displays" option. When I have these 2 monitors running default mirrored, and go into "Displays" there is no option for unchecking the mirroring box. In fact, there isn't even the "Arrangement" tab. Just "Display" and "Color".
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to plug in both my computers input and the hdmi audio out from my monitor, and use the same speakers, but I don't want to have keep switching the cord, so I bought a splitter. Do you think it will reduce the sound quality significantly? I want it to be easy, but it's not worth cutting way down on quality.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to connect speakers and a headphone to my Imac at the same time.Since there is only one audio output in the imac, I need a audio splitter and I think I need a headphone splitter then? Now the problem is there is no volume control on my headphone and I want it at a different volume then my speakers, otherwise when I turn my speakers on and the headphones are still connected and I turn volume up loud it will ruin my headphone ( and I don't want my software volume almost down and my speaker control way up)Now I found this headphone splitter, but my question is, will the sound quality still be the same because I need the same sound quality.
I know it's a difficult story,
I have a Late 2011 MBP, just recently I also go an Xbox and wanted to hook it up to my external display that I have been using for a long time with no issues. I went and bought this: URL....to be able to easily switch between the two inputs. The xbox works fine, however when I view my Macs input the screen flickers a static image very frequently.
I know what you're thinking, it's probably an issue with either a cable, or the device. But when I boot into Windows via Bootcamp with the same exact setup, there is no flicker at all. The display is a dell s2440L, the HDMI adapter is a rocket fish.
Here are the troubleshooting steps I have tried: Resetting PRAM/SMCChanging out HDMI cables on both the Splitter output, and the inputs (I tried 3 different cables on both the inputs, and outputs.)Downgrading OSX to 10.7 (And then went back to 10.9)Lowering the resolution on the monitor (Lower resolutions flicker just as much, if not more.)Resetting the splitter by unplugging the HDMI cord powering it and plugging it back in.and of course, plugging my computer into the splitter input that the Xbox works fine on, as well as taking the xbox one out so the computer is the only input on the splitter.
Like I said, the Xbox works fine, and even the computer works fine in Windows, but whenever I boot into OSX my screen flickers with this static. I should add, the display works fine when not connected to the splitter on OSX.
I recently went through my Applications folder and uninstalled some applications. Now and then, I'll find a file or a folder or a bunch of files and folders from an uninstalled application. Does anyone know of an application that can delete these files that I no longer need?

I've just used my time machine to migrate my old macbook's contents to my brand new macbook air. While I was watching it restore 803,678 files to the new machine, I was wondering how many of them are unused applications. I've stupidly never set up separate user accounts before this, and I'm sure there are any number of applications that were placed on my old machine by my kids, my husband, and various visitors to our house. Since I'm using time machine instead of starting fresh, I know those have been transferred to the new machine. I've never worried too much about this situation before now, as about every three years I've bought a new machine, migrated the files I need to the new machine, wiped the old one clean, and handed it down to one or the other of my kids.
But now I'm realizing that with time machine, everything on my computer is now forever...everything anyone has ever put on it has been transferred to time machine and now to my new machine. I don't want to be operating with years-old versions of kid's games and apps on every machine I set up from now on for the rest of my life. Is there anything out there that specifically looks for stuff that hasn't been used for a specified number of years and asks something like, "Barney & Friends was installed 1/16/2003 and was last used 10/18/2005. Delete Barney & Friends and all associated files, yes or no?"
I'm looking for an advanced notepad for editing HTML/CSS. I'm also wondering whether there's a notepad that has good note-taking functionality as I'm going to use my MBP at University next year.
I also need a cleaner (CCleaner) type program that will keep my Mac in-tune. I'm wondering whether I actually need to keep it in-tune seeing as it's running probably the best operating system in the world which doesn't have all the crap entailed with it.
I'm going to maybe invest in Photoshop in the distant future but is there something that really has the power of PS in a nutshell? I really can't afford the prices they are charging so I'm wondering whether I can just nudge my way round it all and get another decent editor.
is there a good msn app for mac os x ? amsn seems to be the best but no audio in video chat ?

Can anyone recommend a good backup/sync tool with the following features:
Sync 2 folders
Support FTP
Scheduler
Rules (i.e. control over what gets copied)
I've tried Transmit (no scheduler)
Synk (really confusing UI and would freeze when I tried to cancel a sync)
AASync (kept crashing)

He is actually a Windows user and after a quick google search I have found that PeerBlocker is not available to mac users. As a result I have downloaded Peer Guardian and have to say I'm totally confused as to how to use it and what "lists" I need to have setup.

View 2 Replies View RelatedFor many years I have been using Turbo Tax for Windows, and it has been adequate for my needs. When I switched to the Mac I bought a copy of Quicken/Mac to replace my copy of Quicken/Windows. What a disappointment ! The Mac version seems to be about 3 years behind the Windows version.
Having said all that; I am considering Turbo Tax for the Mac with some reservations, based on my Quicken experience. I can afford to be annoyed with the outdated Quicken/Mac, but I cannot use a tax program that might be equally outdated.
