MacBook Pro :: Will A HDMI Splitter Work With It
Apr 7, 2012
I am going to buy a Mac Book Pro 13 inch 2.8 ghz. I was wondering if there is a way to get my mac to hook up to 24 tv's. I use them as mointors.
They both have HDMI and VGA/sound. I noticed that apple said that the MBP could only hook up with 1 thunderbolt on the second the mbpro would go dark. But I was hoping to work around that. I found this device on the internet: [URL] I was wondering if it would work so I could have My email up on my macbook pro and on tv 1 have safari up and on the second tv have itunes up? I do not want them to mirror! I want them to both extend my display!

I have a Late 2011 MBP, just recently I also go an Xbox and wanted to hook it up to my external display that I have been using for a long time with no issues. I went and bought this: URL....to be able to easily switch between the two inputs. The xbox works fine, however when I view my Macs input the screen flickers a static image very frequently.
I know what you're thinking, it's probably an issue with either a cable, or the device. But when I boot into Windows via Bootcamp with the same exact setup, there is no flicker at all. The display is a dell s2440L, the HDMI adapter is a rocket fish.
Here are the troubleshooting steps I have tried: Resetting PRAM/SMCChanging out HDMI cables on both the Splitter output, and the inputs (I tried 3 different cables on both the inputs, and outputs.)Downgrading OSX to 10.7 (And then went back to 10.9)Lowering the resolution on the monitor (Lower resolutions flicker just as much, if not more.)Resetting the splitter by unplugging the HDMI cord powering it and plugging it back in.and of course, plugging my computer into the splitter input that the Xbox works fine on, as well as taking the xbox one out so the computer is the only input on the splitter.
Like I said, the Xbox works fine, and even the computer works fine in Windows, but whenever I boot into OSX my screen flickers with this static. I should add, the display works fine when not connected to the splitter on OSX.

I asked my co-worker the other day, i heard that the mini displayport to HDMI with audio will NOT support audio played through anythign but video players.
Is this correct?
For example,
If I'm using my macbook air plugged into via HDMI to the TV,
I play music thru Itunes, do i get the sound pass thru to the TV?
How about if i'm playing a game on my browser with sound, does the sound go through the TV?
How bout youtube or other flash based videos?

I have a 13" mid 2011 MacBook Air and a new ViewSonic VX2453 monitor. I used the Monoprice mini display port to HDMI converter with audio and connected the monitor to my computer's thunderbolt port. The video works perfectly, but the sound isn't working at all. I set my computer's sound output in settings to VX2453 series (type: HDMI), and I set my monitor's audio input to HDMI. Nothing. I also tried changing the frequency in Audio MIDI Setup, which someone recommended on amazon for the monoprice adapter, but that didn't work either.
I tested the monitor's sound by switching audio input instead to "audio in" and connected to my headphone jack, and that worked so the monitor's sound is fine.

I have a late 2008 MacBook Pro and while I think it's cool that I can use iPhone headphones with it I miss using my old school analog headset with a boom. I use skype for calls and find that people have a hard time hearing me with iPhone headphones. Is anyone aware of a splitter for that jack so that I can connect a headphone line and a mic line? I've seen lots of solutions that have a built in mic but I was hoping that there's simply a splitter out there somewhere.

I have a macbook 2006 model with the mini-dvi connector. It has snow leopoard installed. I plugged in 1 external monitor and it displays 1680x1050 resolution on that monitor which is perfect. What can I expect if I split that DVI output with a DVI splitter to two monitors?

My goal is very simple for the time being.... run my 2 LCD monitors together so I can have double the desktop space. I plugged everything in properly and it seemed to work right away at my pleasure. However, then I quickly started getting real pissed off.. If you guys have ever looked into the "displays" option when you have a mac hooked up to any other kind of external monitor, there is a "mirror displays" option. When I have these 2 monitors running default mirrored, and go into "Displays" there is no option for unchecking the mirroring box. In fact, there isn't even the "Arrangement" tab. Just "Display" and "Color".

I've got a 21" monitor ATM. It's got one DVI port at the back, which I'm currently using to power my Xbox 360 and my MacBook. I get really frustrated whenever I need to switch between the two because I need to go behind the monitor and undo one and plug in the other. I looked up to see if there was some sort of A/B switch that I could just hit a button and it'll go from 360 to MacBook but all the options are actual small boxes at around $100.

I have the new iMac 21.5 Inch with a Thunder Port connector that looks like a mini display port. I have the adapter from Apple that includes the mini display port and converts that to a HDMI Cable to my Samsung Synch Master P2530. The monitor cannot be recognized my the iMac. This monitor worked with my older iMac and it's large display port which adapted to HDMI.

have some nice earphones with attached microphone that I use for my iPhone as well as when I'm using my laptop but I have been using Skype a lot lately and would like to use the attached microphone instead of the built in microphone on my mac book pro.The problem, obviously, is that the laptop has two separately jacks for input and output. Is there anything that splits a single TRS into two inputs?

I want to plug in both my computers input and the hdmi audio out from my monitor, and use the same speakers, but I don't want to have keep switching the cord, so I bought a splitter. Do you think it will reduce the sound quality significantly? I want it to be easy, but it's not worth cutting way down on quality.

I want to connect speakers and a headphone to my Imac at the same time.Since there is only one audio output in the imac, I need a audio splitter and I think I need a headphone splitter then? Now the problem is there is no volume control on my headphone and I want it at a different volume then my speakers, otherwise when I turn my speakers on and the headphones are still connected and I turn volume up loud it will ruin my headphone ( and I don't want my software volume almost down and my speaker control way up)Now I found this headphone splitter, but my question is, will the sound quality still be the same because I need the same sound quality.
I know it's a difficult story,

I have a VGA connection to my monitor from my Macbook currently cause I had a mini-dvi to vga adapter conveniently. But I heard DVI will be better, so I was looking to get another adapter. Should get a Mini-DVI to DVI or Mini-DVI to HDMI? Would that produce the same picture cause they are both digital? I don't plan on connecting to any other diplays or tv's but would one be more versatile than the other? Oh, and I saw that Apple doesn't make a HDMI adapter, is there a reason why not? I saw it on eBay so it made me curious. I've searched this topic, but I didn't see a thread that answered my questions.

When I select the Safari window, the TV just shows the grey background same as Mission Control default?

Today I bought a cable that was supposed to go from the dv port on my MacBook to HDMI, but when I got it home I found it to be a mini dv plug, smaller than the port on my '08 MacBook. Nobody seems to stock cables that fit this larger dv port; I tried Maplin, PC World, Curry's, no luck. An adaptor to VGA, or straight to HDMI, either is fine.

I bought an iMac a couple of years ago and liked it so much I bought a Macbook Pro a week or so ago. I downloaded a tv series from iTunes last night and took the adapter from the iMac and hooked up the Macbook to the tv to watch the show> Well the show plays on the laptop monitor, but the only thing that shows up on the tv is the wallpaper that comes installed on the Macbook (the galaxy thing).
