OS X :: How To Edit Plist With Nano
Mar 2, 2009Is Nano a good way to edit plist files ?
I changed the time frame on my auto backup so it would only go once a day instead of hourly, now it seems like it does not run at all unless I do it manually.
Am I missing something or is Nano not good for editing these files?

Apr 3, 2012I'm trying to edit a .plist file within a application Package (through "Show Package Content"). I edit the file in my favorite XML editor great, but when I go to save it the file is locked. How can I work around this?
Getinfo on the file shows that I have permission and the file is NOT locked.

Jan 8, 2008In iWork 08's Pages application, I need a keyboard shortcut to edit the cell contents. Example: current cell contains the text "new client" -- I decide I want it to read "new clients" without typing it all over again. In Excel for Windows, I would hit F2, that would give me a cursor at the end of the word "client" and I was good to go.

Feb 25, 2009I've been trying to find the title mentioned file on my Vista machine for a while now, and no luck. I've read numerous articles describing how it is located at
C:/Users/*Username*/AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/Safari
But I have everything except the Preferences plist. Ultimately I just want to adjust the settings as you would with terminal to make Safari 4 use its blue inline progress bar, I think this is a bug (which I have reported).
Secondly, would anyone happen to know how to make the User Agent a permanent change to Firefox 3, as this is the only way to be able to access Live Mail, as Safari 4 seems not to want to play ball with it. The temporary fix so I have found is to set the User Agent as Firefox 3 (Even the IE8 didn't work??).
Applications :: Unable To Edit Project In IMovie / Edit And File Tabs Were Unable To Be Clicked
Jun 2, 2010I have been working on a project in iMovie for a few days, and it has been working perfectly. Today, I opened up my project and I could not play the project (the red line would move, but no picture would show up in the upper right hand corner box) and ALL of the options in the "share" tab were gray and unable to click them. Many options in the "edit" and "file" tabs were unable to be clicked as well.
Another project i completed months ago is working perfectly. The clips in the events play/show up on the window in the upper right hand corner

Aug 24, 2010I have a .mkv file on my iMac and when I rename it, it works but it also doesn't work.
I rename it by clicking on the .mkv file and clicking Get Info, then I can enter in the new file name there.
But then when I did open the file in VLC Player, it shows the original file name which is something stupid like "dizo".
I'm looking for a program which will let me edit this file name properly (hope that made sense).

For example, the system folder thinks its 562.5MB, but the Library folder one level into the system folder is 3.25GB. Why does the system folder not add the sizes of all the other folders under it? Sep 5, 2010When editing a photo, adjusting things in the Adjust pane sometimes makes the picture disappear and I have to click Done to go back to the main window to see anything. May 22, 2009I'll be doing my first project in iMovie this weekend; I'm borrowing a Sony Handycam to film a school play. Because my Macbook doesn't have a firewire port, I'm planning to use my friend's iMac to import the footage onto my external hard drive (ie select the hard drive from the pop-up menu on the import sheet as recommended here. Once the footage is on my external hard drive will I have to do the editing on the iMac, or can I edit it in my Macbook? The 2nd option is preferable as I can then do the editing at home instead of at my friend's place. If that's possible, how do I import it into the macbook? And also, my friend's iMac has iMovie '08, I have '09 - does that matter?

May 28, 2009I ahve just bought a Canon EOS 450D. I am hoping to start taking alot of photos with this camera in RAW format. I like how easy to use iPhoto is and I love all the other things iPhoto can do such as Books and Calendars etc.
I like using DPP (Canon's Digital Photo Proffesional), to edit the RAW photos as there are alot of settings in there for editing RAW's.
At the moment I use iPhoto to import my photos from my camera and then organise them using iPhoto. I have set iPhoto to edit the photo i click on in DPP when i want to edit and that is all fine and good until I make a change in DPP. The change dosnt appear in iPhoto. I am wondering if it is something to do with the fact that DPP can not see the iPhoto library.
Is there anyway to make my current setup work or dose anyone have any suggestions as to a better way to import, organise and edit my photos.

Dec 11, 2009Like most people i have a lot of music and need a decent program to catalogue it all. iTunes seems to be the best candidate though i really cannot stand it's organisation heirarchy.
I already have my music organised into genre folders of my own but some of it has the wrong ID3 data attached to it. I'd love to use iTunes as a tool to sort these tags out but i don't want iTunes to move or copy any of my music (around 230GB) as i can't afford to lose the space.
A big chunk of my music are wavs and all MP3's are 320 bitrate (i play professionally). Has anyone worked out a way to do this?
I also haven't found out a way to tag Wavs, i know that natively wavs dont support ID3 information and someone mentioned a good thing to do is to convert to FLAC which does... but im not sure of an automated way to do this...
I have a saved library file on my macbook pro (where all my music is catalogued and organised fully with iTunes) which i'd love to migrate over to my PC - (being used as a data backup source) so i dont have to sort all these tags out again. Of course i realise this is probably not possible cue to the differeing locations of data between my MBP and PC, but i wonder if there maybe a shortcut to save me from having to edit everything twice?
