Applications :: Audio Keeps Fading On Iphoto / Idvd Slideshows?
Jul 2, 2009
I've created a slideshow in iphoto with about four mp3 songs from my itunes list playing in the background. The songs play find when I view the slideshow in iphoto. However, when I send the slideshow to idvd and burn the DVD the each song fades off to silence way too early! It's not an idvd issue, because when I preview the DVD before burning it, the audio does the same thing.
I've tried changing the mp3 to m4a, still same fade. I've also tried making them one track in Audacity, still same fade. I don't know what to do to fix it?
This is done with iphoto 09 with the latest update on a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.5.7.
Is there any way to save the slideshows from iPhoto 09 into a video format (.mov,.mp4 etc.) I think the new slideshows are brilliant and I would like to use them within keynote presentations but don't want to keep going in and out of presentation mode in keynote to click 'play slideshow' in iphoto and back again into the presentation
Every time I hit the slideshow button on iPhoto '09, I get the spinning rainbow wheel and then the app will eventually crash. This is very frustrating. Is anyone else having this problem with the new iLife version as well? Can you test for me using a large photo album that this might be happening to other users too? I refuse to believe that my MBP can't handle it.
So I love the iPhoto "ken burns" slideshows, and I had created a cute one set to the "Linus and Lucy" theme song. However, when I exported it to a .mp4 and uploaded it to YouTube to share on my site, I got the "copyright" warning and the audio is disabled. So anyone know what the copyright limits are as far as slideshows are concerned? What's the point of allowing us to use it if we can't share it? I also noticed that the quality is degraded due to compression... would it be better just to make my own slideshow in iMovie and share that instead (quality-wise)? Or is there a better way to share the slideshow?
My dad has a new 27" Core i5 iMac. When he plays a very long slideshow, iPhoto consistently crashes around the 8-minute mark. Sometimes he gets an error message saying "iPhoto unexpectedly quit" and sometimes the slides just quit coming up, even though the music keeps playing.
It doesn't matter from which event the slides come, although it seems to happen on his pics only and not on the pre-installed pics from Apple.
One last data point, this never happens, even when viewing the same slideshow, on his 13" MacBook Pro, which he bought at the same time.
It seems to me like a memory leak, or, less likely, some kind of GPU overheating issue. He's tried rebuilding his photo library, which changed nothing.
I edited a video in FCP and exported it as a quicktime. The resulting file is a little over an hour, about 13gb in size, and has 14 chapters. The quicktime movie plays perfectly. When I build the DVD in iDVD it works perfectly. However, once it's burned I lose the audio in the middle of the 13th chapter until the end. I've deleted preferences, re-exported the quicktime, created new DVD projects, used an older template (I'm now using a version 7 template).... I'm not sure what's going on!
I just got a brand new iMac '09 with. I love it already but the only problem I seem to be having is iDVD. I got a movie that is about 700 MB, and would like to burn it onto DVD. First iDVD was saying its too large for the 4.2 GB DVD, so I selected high quality instead of previously selected Best Performance. That fit the movie onto the DVD. Once the encoding was done, I burned it. However now, when I play in on my DVD player, there is no video (green screen) and sound is all scrambled. Same thing when I play in on the iMac. I then noticed that already on the preview menu (under media) the movie is played with no video and damaged audio. Also, when it was finished burning on the dvd, iDVD kept asking for blank recordable DVDs to be inserted, which after two ruined dvds I cancelled.
I couldn't find what I was looking for in MRoogle.
The thing I hate about iDVD (besides it taking so long to burn video DVDs on Mac) is that the themes are more than I need and take up valuable disc space.
1. Are there any iDVD themes that are simply a menu...no music, no video clip previews, no sappy backgrounds, etc?
2. Is there a free (or cheap) alternative to iDVD excluding Toast?
3. I'd be using .mov or .mp4 as my source video.
4. I have iDVD 7.0.4 and am using Snow Leopard. I really don't want to pay for iLife 11 as I never use Garage Band or iPhoto. iMovie kinda sucks too.
There was an error during rendering/encoding of the menus/slideshows. The burning process has been canceled.
It offers no course of action so in Project Info I tried each quality, widescreen and standard, but each time I attempt to burn the dvd it will process the menus, render menu 1 of 1 and all 3 transitions and at the end of this segment I receive the same error message before it starts to process the slideshows of which there are three.
We downloaded Leopard on my eMac a little while back. I am now missing iPhoto and iDVD. What can I do to restore them? I still have iMovie. I don't want the new iLife 08 because I don't like the newer version of iMovie nor do I think what I have supports the new iLife. The specs on my eMac are:
Model Name:eMac Model Identifier:PowerMac6,4 Processor Name:PowerPC G4 (1.1) Processor Speed:1.25 GHz Number Of CPUs:1 L2 Cache (per CPU):512 KB Memory:768 MB Bus Speed:167 MHz Boot ROM Version:4.8.2f1
I made an iDVD from my iPhoto pictures, shortly after my Mac crashed and I lost the pictures. Is there some way I can get the photos off of the disc that I created? When I insert it into my Mac it just starts playing.
I'm on a newer iMac running Yosemite and went to install ilife 09, to get iDVD (that I need) and somehow it killed iphoto? The ap wont even open. I opted for the custom install and thought everything went fine (only selected iDvd, but I have no iphoto.. I'm downloading it from the ap store now, My question is this, I purchased ilife 09 and ilife 11. This shouldnt be a problem should it? I should do the custom install on 09 (opting only for iDvd) then do the same for 11 right?
When I make a slideshow with music in iDVD, it plays fine on my Mac, but after burning the DVD, there is a short audio dropout at each transition between photos when I play the DVD on my home DVD player. Am not sure if this is a player problem, or what I can do to get around it.Your answer can be technical.
I've just upgraded to Mavericks from Lion. I find that iPhoto, iMovie and iDVD are all missing in the new OS. Can I restore them from my Time Machine backups? If I do, will they work with Mavericks?

I have an iMac 27" late 2013. I was wanting to burn some dvd's and installed iDVD, while working with iDVD I received a notice that iPhoto could not be opened because it may be damaged or incomplete...Can I get it back??
so just the other day, I noticed that my safari window was fading transparent any time I would make it an inactive window, for example by clicking onto the desktop. I don't know why or how this could have happened, although the only thing I remember installing recently enough was "Inquisiter" for Safari, but I've uninstalled that and it still seems to be happening.
I'm using the most recent version of the Safari 4 beta in case you needed to know.
I guess it's not really a BIG deal since it doesn't really harm my ability to do anything in OS X, but I'm just a little confused as to how this happened in the first place. Does anybody know why or how this happened and how I could disable this?
Here's a video of it happening just to help you understand what's happening:[URL}
I'm trying to make one of those Youtube song lyrics videos but I can't seem to get the text to stay still. I searched on Google and everyone says to use "centered title" but it keeps fading and i can't get the lines to appear simultaneously, each set of two lines fades out as the next one fades in.Is there a way to insert about 5-6 lines at the same time per slide without the text fading?
On my external monitor (does not happen on the MBP screen) and just in Safari, on any page when I scroll, the entire page progressively fades or washes out until the entire window is white minus a few images that fade to yellow and black. See attached screenshot of apple.com. Resizing resets the picture to normal, but problem persists if I scroll again.
Anyone experiencing this? Tried to update but software is up to date.

After installing the latest update for iDVD- I can't open the program! I tried the "fix" posted on the Apple site- no luck. It worked fine before the latest update.
I want to create a full screen slideshow of my pictures (from the finder). Coverflow won't do full screen, and Quick Look doesn't work well. If I go full screen I can't skip to the next picture. I can highlight multiple pictures then open Quick Look to be able to scroll to scroll through them, but it's long and tedious. Say I want to just make a slideshow from a folder of pictures without having to highlight everything and open Quick Look, is there a quick way to do this?
I thought of using Front Row (I had never tried it before), but it's telling me Pictures (0) when I have lots of folders and pictures in my home folder. Does Front Row only use pictures imported in iPhoto (which I don't use?) In Front Row, when I click on "Sources", it brings me to "Alex's MacBook" (the name of my computer) but I can't go anywhere from there or even change it, if I click it goes back to the menu.
When I use some powerpoint presentation containing audio-visual info keynote always seems to prematurely end the audio part. Have tinkered with it a little, but can't seem to sort it out
I want to convert some video files (specifically swf in this case) to audio files so I can listen on my iPod. I looked everywhere and can't find some free software that does that. There are tons that have trial periods with lots of limitations (like it won't convert anything larger than a 5k size file) so I don't want those because I won't know if the thing works well unless I pay for it. I'm not opposed to paying for a converter IF I know it works awesome on a Mac.
I have searched a lot for this question and have not found an answer.
I am trying to play a .avi video on my MAC that was originally in .rar compressed format. I opened it in VLC, and the audio wont play.. so i checked the info and saw that:
video codec: XVID
audio codec: mpga
I have perian downloaded.. it doesnt seem to be doing anyting. I dont know if i've missed something in my extracting process of the .rar file.
I'm using iMovie 09 with the very latest updates applied and I am having trouble with audio skimming in just one of my projects. The project is only 8 minutes long and is just a collage of pictures to music. The audio skimming button is toggled to on but no green bars show in the equalizer when I skim over the video. The audio works fine when playing the project and in other windows around the project such as the event viewer. I have plenty of free hard drive space and the thumbnails slider is set to '5s'. ALL of my other projects skim no problem.
Now this is the strange part. If I click to enter the precision editor on any part of the video and then click done (even without altering anything) the skimming comes back. It thus disappears if place a new item in the timeline until I go back into the precision editor where it re enables itself.
I love taking pictures, editing, and displaying. However, I would like to add monitors in other areas of the house in order to display pictures remotely and keep the source IMac in my home office.

I've read numerous posts here saying that its possible to use AVI files in iDVD to make a DVD, but I can't figure out how to do it. I have a series of AVI files that I want to burn to a DVD that will work on any DVD player but iDVD won't even let me preview them (I just get a blank black screen)...
I've done a few (well a lot) of DVDs now with iDVD using avi files on my hard disk with a view to either giving as presents or watching with the family on TV.
We do not want to hover around my laptop to watch a movie In about 90% of these iDVD created DVDs I get an error message from iDVD that there was a problem during encoding and if we try to watch them throgh the TV/DVD player then the film just stops about 75% of the way through.
I have a project already started in iDVD. When I try to add a movie to it, it says that my iMovie project can not be used yet because it hasn't been prepared for sharing. It tells me to go to iMovie - Share - Media Browser. When I do that and try to click on Share, nothing is available to be used.
