I tried Google Chrome but it doesn't have a bookmarks manager which is just stupid. I hear that Firefox takes a while to start up.

I have 4 x 500MB drives in my Mac Pro and 4 x 500MB external firewire drives.
Currently I use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone each internal drive to it's respective backup. ie Drive 1 > Backup 1, Drive 2 > Backup 2 etc
Is it possible to use Timemachine in a similar way? so that each internal drive has it's own corresponding Timemachine backup?

Jul 6, 2009First off, I have an iBook G4 with Leopard, and an iMac Intel that I just recently upgraded to Leopard. I have used my external drive to previously backup my iBook with Time Machine. I would like to start backing up my iMac too, with the same drive. Would this present a conflict as far as the multiple backups from different systems on the same drive? Obviuosly space would be an issue in the long run...250GB drive, devoted only to backups. Also, if/when I utilize Boot Camp on my iMac, will the Windows partition backup through Time Machine?

Apr 6, 2010Currently I keep my time machine backup on an external usb hard drive which is a seagate hd in an enclosure I bought a while ago. I want to maintain a second copy of the time machine back up.
Is it better to buy an external RAID enclosure, put the current drive in there, get another drive, and then just have time machine backup to that drive?
Or should I just get another enclosure and another drive? If I do it this way, can I automate the time machine backups across two drives in any way, or I have to manually run it twice?

Apr 14, 2012I'm using a Macbook Pro running OSX Lion. I use the Macbook to work from both home and office.Because I live very far from office, I usually stay in the city with my gf which means I might not go home for 7-10 days at a time.I do have a time capsule at home, everything works fine whenever I go there, backup is done seemlessly, catching up to whatever state the macbook is.Because I can be without backing up for days and sometime weeks, I'm considering getting another Time Capsule that I would setup at work.
Is it possible to backup a single Mac to multiple independant Time Capsule (or NAS ). My understanding is that Time Machine probably create indexes of what changed vs. what didn't so I am not convince it would correctly update two Time Capsule which might be at very different levels.If not possible I guess I'll have to look into another parallel backup scheme like Acronis or else (didn't really look into that yet)

Jan 8, 2009I currently have a macbook that uses a 320GB Ext HD for Time Machine, a Windows laptop used by the wife and a Windows desktop used for only downloading our pictures to a central location and acting as a print server. We'll be picking up a macbook in the coming weeks and I was thinking about using a 1TB Time Capsule to replace the Windows desktop. all the Windows desktop is used for is file sharing and print server! I want to use the Time Capsule for Time Machine on both laptops as well as a file server. What's the best way to partition the TC drive? I was thinking 3 volumes, one ~250GB for each laptop and a ~500GB for file sharing.

May 29, 2012Does anyone have some experience running multiple folder actions at the same time? I've written a Applescript folder action that processes some files. When adding some files, the script starts and all goes well. The processing of each file takes a few minutes, but all files are processed correctly. However, when adding some new files to the dropfolder, while the folder action is all ready processing other files dropped a few minutes earlier, the process that is all ready running immediately aborts and the folder action is relaunched on the new files, leaving the old files for what they are.The same problem occurs with multiple folders, each having a folder action attached. When dropping files in "Folder A", the script starts processing. But if someone droppes files in "Folder B", The script of folder A aborts, and the script of folder B starts processing. When adding more files to the folders, the result is the same. In some casses, when the last dropped files are processed, the os continues where the operation was aborted on the previous files. But this not always happens. To make things worse, when you remove the items from the folders afterwords, the folder actions starts running again on items no longer present in the folder ..Does anyone know how I can prevent the folder action being aborted when new files are dropped and placing the new files in "Hold", until the previous files are processed? How can I prevent a folder action being aborted when a item is dropped into another folder? I've written a small script to test this behaviour. Just create one or more folders and attach the script below. Drop a item into the folder, wait a few seconds and drop another one in the same or another folder. To monitor what happens please check the console. [code]

Jun 18, 2012I have an old MBP that I am replacing with a new Retina Display MBP. Last night I did a full backup of my entire MBP (there are actually 2 hard drives in it, I took out the optical drive and used an OWC kit). Today, I restore that backup to my new MBP. I set it to restore everything. However, it only restore the one drive as my new MBP does not have 2 hard drives. I know the 2nd drive is in the Time Machine backup. So how do I manually go in and retrieve those items?

Sep 5, 2014I have Time Machine backing up to a network drive at home, and have recently set up port forwarding so I can access this drive from outside the network.
This means I now have 2 addresses for the same disk.Â
How do I explain this to Time Machine?
-If I give it both addresses, will it figure out they're the same disk and write incrementally, or will it just back everything up twice?
-If I just give it the external address, it'll connect successfully but it'll be routing the backup through the internet even though I'm on a LAN (right?).
-I'm currently switching target disks manually as necessary, but this is obviously not ideal.Â

I would use this mac for pretty much anything, but mostly mostly mostly for music production. I will use it to record songs, I have decided I probably do not need to wait for the refresh, as all I would need is to be able to run plugins and multiple tracks at the same time.. I'm pretty much sold on the imac 27 quad core with 8gb ram right now, but would I be able to make a wiser choice?
