View 4 RepliesAnyone know of a Mac OS X software that will capture streaming video and save in a playable format in Mac OS X? Kind of like DownloadHelper for Firefox captures FLV, MP4, MP3, etc... and saves it to your hard drive.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony DCR-PC100 Camcorder that uses mini DV tape for recording, and am trying to get the video onto my mac. I have tried in iMovie '06,'08 and Final Cut Express, and I keep getting the same problem. I connect the camera via firewire, and set the camera to VTR. The app recognizes the camera (Final Cut even specifies the model number correctly) and can access it enough so that when you hit play it starts the camera playing. But it never gets video or audio coming into the computer, instead it just keeps the capture preview as black or blue. Eventually it just color wheels for a while and freezes or has to be shut down. I am using an iMac G5, but have tried it on an Intel MacBook Pro, and the same problem happens. I also tried it on a PC and it worked fine, so I dont think it is the camera, but I have a lot of video to upload, so I need to do it on my iMac. Does anyone know why this would be happening, and what some possible solutions would be?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have the new iMac 27' and was trying to capture some video from my DVR via a composite cable-USB converter. The composites run into a USB cable. So I plugged the USB cable into my Mac and tried to capture the video. Nothing came up in Toast showing me how to capture or even giving me a option to capture. Anyone know how to capture video using this method?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a doubt about FW800 compatibility. Im about to buy the new iMAC 27" and have in mind to buy a bidirectional video converter: Theres a note that says: "A video capture card or OHCI FireWire connection is required to capture DV. IEEE 1934 FW800 connectors are not supported". But I read that I could connect this device to the FW800 port with a FW400 to FW800 adapter (or otherwise buy the FireWire 800(1394b)/FireWire 400 (1394a) 9-Pin to 4-Pin Interconnect Cable) and would work fine as if was compelling with IEEE1934 rules. I wonder if FCS would recognize the video signal and Im not making a mistake buying this device. Capturing analog media is part of my services. Any suggestions of a similar device that would work with a FW800 connection? Or the Canopus ADVC110 will work properly in the new iMAC?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to get some sort of video capture thingy for my new Mac Pro, as in, "hook up a VCR or video game console to it via S-Video or RCA inputs".
I know that there are a few USB/Firewire plug-and-play solutions out there, but i've always been the "put everything on the inside" kind of guy. Back when i was messing around with this before x amount of years ago the most affordable-vs-quality and efficient option for me was a PCI card.
I tried to do some googling on cards for the PCI Express slots in my Mac and was surprised that the options were few and far between and did not actually save me much money versus the USB/Firewire counterparts, so i'm wondering: is my philosophy outdated? Should i conform to the norm and get one of those external solutions, and if so, can anyone speak to the quality of the various ones that are available on the market?
I've found that I have a need to take more than screen shots on my machines. I need to be able to record on screen activities so I can add in clips of the desktop and what not to my iMovie files. I have found a not so free program called Snapz Pro which seems to have what I need. I'm more interested in freeware of course, so are there any similar programs to this one?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI wanted to get some ideas on how to capture Skype audio calls and the Video from MeBeam.com Since Skype does not allow video conferencing (more than to video calls) I had to resort to MeBeam.com to show the video during the Skype calls. What I want to do is capture both the video feed and Skype audio to archive. At this point it doesn't matter if the audio and video are in true sync. Any ideas on how to capture the audio and video or a program that will allow me to do video conferencing (more than 2 people).

View 4 Replies View Relatedive got a Sony HVR-V1E/V1P its a HDV 1080i camera which uses mini DV tapes for ages now ive been trying to capture media into FCE and it hasnt been working it can never recognize the capture device. I found an I.Link convert setting and set it to on so now it converts it into DV when it captures, and at last the device is recognised and i can play it on the computer etc. When i try to capture it though, after around 2 seconds it says: "Dropped Frames were detected during the last capture attempt" , better yet, can anyone help me get this thing to import at proper HDV? Edit: I went into the settings and disabled the option saying "abort capture on dropped frames" Now it captures about 3 seconds and says: "Capture encountered a problem reading data on your source tape. This could be due to a problem with the tape. Capture has been aborted and your project has been saved"
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 2007 macbook pro with a dead video card. Neither the LCD nor the external video port work. The apple store confirmed everything else works fine. I would like to use it in a server-like application, but to set it up I will need some way to get video working temporarily.
When it broke, I had ssh enabled but that's about it. I didn't install remote desktop or anything like that. Is there any way to ssh in and install/set up Remote Desktop or something equivalent? I'm used to doing X11 forwarding over ssh on linux, but I haven't found anything similar for mac.
i have a macbook pro. i've looked through a lot of tutorials on youtube and apple support but i wasn't able to find the answer i was looking for.
my question is
how do i import a video on my desktop to the application imovie 09?
i started to work on my killer intro vid and the rest of the vid happen to be on my desktop. however, when i attempt to drag the video to imovie09, it bounce right off.
if there is nothing i can do, would it be possible to use the isight cam from imovie09 to make a video? i am not talking about making a video about myself. it actually pertains to an object ill be holding and talking about it. the only struggle is turning the object and holding it up. i know it can be better done with an actually camcorder but is there another way with the isight app on my computer?
I have an external display for my MacBook Pro, and I'd like to run some short tutorial videos on the external display while I use my MacBook to take notes, recreate lessons, etc. The problem is that every time I click a new video to watch it, it opens on the MacBook display, which means I have to then drag the video over to the secondary display.
Is there any way to tell Quicktime to open the videos on the secondary display without resetting my monitor options? (I'd like my MacBook display to stay as the primary monitor.) I know I could just take notes on the secondary display, but the MacBook screen is a) connected to my keyboard (not a big fan of my non-MacBook keyboard. I like to call it my Windows gaming keyboard because that's all it's there for) so it's easier to use and b) it just looks better.
How do I upload a homemade DVD video to my desktop?

This holiday I was confronted with wanting to make a CD of some programmes on the Radio.
I have access via streaming, but how to capture them.
This solution worked for me so I thought I would pass it on.
I think my video card died about a month ago and I've been trying out some cards with no success. Here is a previous thread I made about it:

I just got the second card I'm trying today: ATI X800 XT AGP, and my computer will just sit at the grey apple screen with no wheel spinning. I'm assuming this is a driver issue (or something much worse)! Since my computer will not boot, I have no idea how to update the drivers for this card.
I'm looking for a lightweight screen capturing tool: requirements: export at least 720p Screenflow is too sluggish for me.
