MacBook Pro :: Map Media Buttons On Logitech K260?
Jun 4, 2012I've got a Logitech K260 wireless keyboard, and it has some media buttons on it (including a calculator, internet and email shortcut). So far, out of the box, the volume buttons, the play button and the power button work fine. All other media keys don't work, and I'm not really sure how to map them to commands. Also, I'd like to add that next track is labeled as the alternative to "End" and the previous track is "home" (i.e. you'd expect to press shift+end and get to the next track), but this doesn't work either. I've tried installing the Logitech Control Center, but no luck.

Sep 12, 2014I have a desktop and I'm using iTunes version 11.4. I don't know when the buttons stopped working exactly but I've tried everything except downgrading itunes. They've always worked before.

Apr 1, 2009I have Apple Remote Desktop 3 installed on my work iMac OS X 10.5 and I can connect to from another Mac no problem. Is there a way to remote to it using Microsoft Remote Desktop running on Vista? Or do I have to use VNC?
If I have to use VNC, I have UltraVNC to connect to my linux box and it works fine. However How do I set it up to remote to apple remote desktop? What port do I use? I use 5901 for the linux box.

Jul 1, 2010This is gonna sound crazy, but last weekend I found a Apple Remote Desktop 3 (still in shrink wrap) in a parking lot. I don't really know anything about it. I have not opened it. It is Apple Part #: MC172Z/A, Version 3.3. It has a "unlimited managed systems" sticker on the front. Is this the complete software, or is there more that goes with it? I have done some research and just got more confused about 'administrator and client' software. Just wondering what I have here without opening it.

May 9, 2009I am a network administrator for an environment that has both windows and mac systems. I personally use a MacBook Pro for all of my admin duties. With Microsoft's RDC I can save the connection to each machine as a file and drag the folder containing those files into the dock to create a stack for quick access. My question is, is there any way I can do something similar for the Mac connections for Apple Remote Desktop, so I don't have to launch the app, then go to the machine I want to connect to?

May 15, 2009I am trying to set up Apple Remote Desktop and Screen Sharing between my Mac Pro (home computer) and a new Macbook (white laptop).
I wish to be able to use Apple Remote Desktop from both computers. I have had this working between an older work laptop.
I don't seem to be able to connect to the Macbook from the Mac Pro, I cannot share the screen or connect using ARD. I enter the username and password of the account I use on the Macbook but connection takes a while and is then refused. I can however, connect from my MacBook to my Mac Pro
If I allow Screen Sharing instead of Remote Management from the System preferences, it requires that the the user of the Macbook accepts my request to view the screen. However if using the Macbook I can connect and no permission is requested. If permission is granted I can only share screen in ARD and not control.
The user account I use on the Macbook is an "Admin, Managed, Mobile" account. Would that have an affect?

Sep 28, 2009I googled this a little bit and couldn't find a good answer - is there a way to cycle through FF & REW speeds when watching a video in Quicktime X using the apple remote? If I hold down the FF button it will play at 2x, but I can't get any faster than that.

We have no room for an iMac.Currently we stream our personal music to our hifi in the lounge using an Airport Express. I want to be able to burn all the CDs and DVDs to a so we need never use physical discs.

Sep 13, 2009Does anyone know or have the same problem where pressing the F7, F8, F9 keys (which are previous, stop/pause, and forward) doesn't work in iTunes unless iTunes is the "active" window? I know that in OS X that if i pressed those buttons, it would do it even if I was in another application, but in the Windows 7 version it won't do it if another application is "active." Also, the same applies to the Apple Remote.

However, I hate the mighty mouse scroller, so I want to switch to a new mouse. However, when I plug in the new mouse it only lets me right click, left click and scroll. My other mouse has 2 extra buttons I want to configure to open quicksilver and Expose all windows (like I had setup with my apple mouse). Can I do this with a non-apple mouse?

Jan 8, 2010I know this is kind of off topic and the logo does not make the product any different but I found it a little odd that Apple decided to not to put their logo on the remote. It's made out of aluminum and has enough space on the back for a logo to be present. Apple put's their logo on everything that has enough space for one. The old remote had it, mouse, keyboard, MacBook/MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Pro, iPod's, iPhone, docks, and gift cards all have it. Their earphones don't have it because they are to small to put a logo without making them look stupid. I wonder what Jonathan Ive and Jobs were thinking when they decided to not put the logo. The back of the remote almost seems bare without it.

Jan 2, 2011I have an Apple Wireless Keyboards and have noticed a problem with it. So the wireless keyboard has the EXACT same layout as my MacBook keyboard, so I would assume it should function the same. You know how along the top there are lots of function buttons? Well none of those work like they should. Clicking any of the buttons from esc (very left) to the play/pause button doesn't do anything. From there, the forward button (>>) does what F3 should, the volume off button does something I'm not quite sure what it is the volume down button pushes everything off to the side of the screen (not sure what it's called ) and volume up opens my dashboard. So is this something completely wrong with my keyboard, or is it something weird that they all do that I don't know of?

But now around 5 or 6 of the keys are really sticky, and take a while for them 'rise' again after being pressed. Has anyone got any tips on how to clean the keyboard properly? MacBook Pro :: Can't Get Apple Remote Working
May 16, 2010I just bought a brand new MBP from the Apple Store today, 17" one. I had an iMac, and did a transfer via Firewire of all my stuff to the new MBP. I then wiped the iMac clean and reinstalled Snow Leopard and moved it to my parents house. However the Apple Remote I had with the iMac, which was paired with the iMac, will not work with the MBP at all. I tried going into System Prefs on the MBP and pairing the remote, no luck. I tried turning off the infrared receiver in the same settings pane, no luck. I tried popping out the battery of the remote and put it back in, no luck. I then tried my girlfriend's Apple Remote (which is paired with her MacBook 13"), no luck. I turned off the infrared receiver in her MacBook to make sure it wasn't interfering or whatever, still no luck. Neither Apple Remote will work with my brand new MBP. Does it have a broken infrared port u think?
