I used Joe's Apple Script to Time Shift a lot of photos but I interrupted the process and made a mess of things. Is there any way to reverse the process and reset the original time stamp.

View 4 Replies View RelatedHow do I batch change files' UNIX settings? I have web sharing turned on and have it set up so it's serve up the files and folders on my hard disk. It works great, but when I look at the folders it's showing in the web page, approximately 1 in 10 folders just isn't being displayed. The OS X permissions on these folders is all set to "read and write" for everyone, so I presume there is some sort of other UNIX or Apache file/folder settings that are keeping these folders from being displayed in the webpage. How do I make these hidden folders show up in my web page's displayed directory of folders?

I'm looking to convert a whole slew of telephone numbers in Address Book to make them Skype compliant. There are a variety of find-replace patterns I want to use. One example is an area code in parentheses. For example, I want to change (215) to +1 215. There are thousands of numbers in my address book to change, and manually is not an option. Address Book doesn't have any way to do this on its own. I checked out Automator but it doesn't have many useful Address Book functions. I dug around for a bit online for an AppleScript that would just go straight to editing the AddressBook.data file, but didn't find anything.
I tried to edit the AddressBook.data file myself using TextWrangler, but when I saved it, AddressBook.data's icon changed from a blank file icon to a plain text file icon and Address Book stalled out while opening, necessitating a force quit. So I reverted to my back up and am no closer to solving the problem. Is there a way to do a find-replace or a batch change in Address Book, whetever via AppleScript or otherwise? If not, how can I edit AddressBook.data and save it without it become a text file that Address Book chokes on?
I wonder is someone knows how do a batch change in address book. I'm changing phone operator and I have to change the phone number prefix from "041" to "015" to all my contacts. I've tried to find some applescript but I've found only to change the whole number.
View 2 Replies View Relatedis it possible to undo a Time Machine restore on a new setup and start again? I had an iMac that I backed up to Time Machine and then bought a new iMac (May 2012). When setting up the new iMac I chose to install a copy of my old iMac from Time Machine. The new iMac is now a perfect copy of the old one..... only I really just wanted a totally fresh start. Can I undo this process so that I can set up the new iMac as if it is just a new computer and can this be done without damaging the backup of the old iMac that I have on my Time Capsule? Lastly, can I subsequently just take the photos that are part of the old iMac backup on the Time Capsule and save those to my new iMac.

I am using the polygonal lasso tool to cut out something. I know that the button "delete" undoes the last line/selection however if the selection is completed/closed by mistake there seem to be no option to go back. "delete" button simply erases what is in the selected area. How can I continue cutting out something from where I was if the selection is closed?

I know handbrake can queue files, but you have to add them one-by-one.
Are there any applications where I can just select all of my videos and then select Apple TV format and just let it run for a week or so to encode them all?
I've got a whole bunch of photos in various subfolders. Some of these photos have the same relative name (ie same file name but in different folders).
I would like to rename all these files like 000001.ext, 000002.ext etc, independently of file location so I can copy all the files back to one single folder (I can handle that bit in Terminal). There are many sub-folders so I need something recursive.
I've tried Renamer4Mac, but it isn't recursive. Does anyone know of a different app that would work, or even a terminal command/script/binary that would do the trick?
Having some issues with annoying Metadata in some AVI files. I just want to remove the title (as in what shows up in the VLC window when you have title info AND the file name) and the comments.
When I tried Metadata Hooteneany, it converted them all to .mov, I guess, so when I tried to reopen them, not only was the metadata still there, but there was no audio.
When I used VLC to "Window">"Media Information..." and delete the metadata and "Save Metadata"'d, it did nothing when I reopened the file. Metadata was still there.
I've searched and searched and can't find an application that can do what AquaISO http://dhost.info/aquatsr/?page=proj...roject=aquaiso does so simply and well, with the ADDITION of batch conversion. AquaISO does single files beautifully and has never failed, but I have several hundred files that need to be converted the same way

- rename them like "partner-01" - "partner-02" - "partner-03" etc etc
-export them in Jpeg format with quality 80 to a subfolder called "partner-xxx" inside the folder with the originals.
I have a document with lot of text inside it. There are also several links. I want to be able to open all links of the document to safari tabs. The only way I have to do it 'till now is to manually copy paste each link from word pages to safari tabs. Is there any way to automate this repetitive task? Either by selecting all links of word and somehow opening them, or using osx automator? I 've not used automator before, I do not know if this task can be automated. Can you please help me to make the whole task faster and simpler?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to batch-extract a large folder of *.rar archives which all have the same password without having to manually enter the password each time. To this end I have managed to install the popular extraction utility 'unrar' and use it via Terminal.
I think I've gotten a handle on using the switches etc, as I have managed to successfully extract one file, without creating a subdirectory, and without having to enter the password (apart from in the single command, obviously...). The next part, applying the 'unrar' command to all 578 files, is proving more difficult..
Is there an app that can batch convert multiple video files? I found one called mpegstream clip which is good, but it seems to only do one at a time, it there a feature in it that can do more than one at a time? One at a time is ok for 4 videos or less, but when I have more than that it can get a little tedious. Specifically, I need something that can batch convert my mpg movies files my point & shoot digicam can take to a format that imovie 09 will import & work with.

I found a Windows program that could do it, but when it converted them, it would not retain the original file names. It gave them a sequential file name, i.e. _1.jpg, _2.jpg, _3.jpg ~ _263.jpg. There is no option to retain the original file names...:/
EDIT: (i.e. marketingtable.htm > marketingtable.jpg)
So my question is, is there an Automator process that could batch convert .htm files to .jpg? Or is there an app for Mac that can batch convert .htm files to image (.jpg) files?
I usually am able to find the answer to all my questions with Google, and this time I thought I had as well with the Windows app, but it brought upon too much of a feat for me to handle.

I am trying to setup a script where a screenshot is performed. However, every single time the script is run, the file name is the same, not allowing it to save. How can I change file name every time the script is run? Current Script: do shell script "screencapture -i -s -tjpeg ~/Desktop/1.jpg"

I am looking for a reliable quick batch converter that can convert the .mov movie files my camera shoots to mpg2 to burn quickly to a blank DVD to give to family members to play on a regular DVD player. Every time I try to uncheck the box marked or open the Date and Time preferences, it freezes and have to force quit.
I had a flash drive volume on my Mac and then what bothered me most was the .trashes file that I wanted to clear. I saw an article telling me to open Disk Utility "Erase" Erase Free Space. View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8r to use with Logic 9 on my MacBook Pro, but unfortunately it is not compatible with OS X 10.7.4 , and the latest version that it works for is OS X 10.7.3.
I really need this audio interface to work as if I can't get it to work then all the money that I have spent on recording equipment is wasted. Is there any way of me reverting my MacBook Pro back to the 10.7.3 version? And if so, is it going to cause compatibility issues with any of my other software? (I have a horrible feeling that it might)
