Applications :: Timelapse Creating Software On Mac?
Jun 28, 2010
Is there any program for the Mac I can use that I can make a timelapse? I tried Gawker, but I feel unsure about using it after it crashed one time, losing hours of frames.. on Windows, I had a program called Tilaphos which saved each frame in a jpeg and turned them all into a movie when you were done, keeping the jpeg. I'm hoping there's something similar for the Mac.
I am in the process of setting up iChat on my spousal unit's iMac. I've already created a Jabber account, using her gmail address. That seems to work fine. Now I'd like to add an AIM account. When I click on "Get an iChat Account..." in the Account Setup window,It was my understanding that this signup gets you an AIM account, but it from the first line on the page, it seems to assume that you're using .Mac (even more oddly, since .Mac doesn't actually exist any longer). What am I missing here? Aren't AIM, MobileMe and .Mac accounts the same for purposes of iChat?
I have to make an A5 booklet for a college project. Pages lacks this feature. Aside from office for mac are there any other ways I can create and print an A5 booklet on my mac??
I am a student at the University of Miami and i need to run MatLab on my computer. They have the MatLab software available to me but only for Windows. They told me that they can install Windows for me but its going to take a week. IM NOT WILLING TO GIVE MY MACBOOK UP FOR A WEEK!!!! Specially becaus ei need it for school(and to browse this site lol). So i was wondering how much it would cost me$$$ to install Windows, is it available for free download? Is it complicated to Install? and if it simple enough can somebody give me a simple step by step?
I just have a quick question about Numbers (iWork '09). I need to graph some supply and demand graphs for school. How would I go about doing this? Whenever I create a graph based on a chart, it just plots each row as it's own line. I can only edit the values in the Y-axis, and obviously I need to be able to work with the X-axis as well.
Update: I played around with it more and figured it out. I guess you have to graph it as a scatter plot and then choose to connect the dots, and remove the dots, rather than choose the line graph, whose icon looks just like a graph of supply and demand.
I'm trying create 200 MB rar files out of a 700 + MB directory. When I check "split archive" and select "user defined" under the volume size dropdown and click create rar, it creates 500+ rar archives! Nowhere does it ask me how big I want the volume size for "user defined". Does anyone know how to use this app? I mean, I know how to alternatively archive into 200 mb parts (zip them, split & concat the zip file) but that requires the user to unarchive twice.
I am making a dvd with instructions of how to train in the gym. I am making the menu in dvd studio pro 4. I want the main menu to contain an image with the front and rear musculature of the human body, and you can then choose a muscle by going up and down. When you click the muscle you enter a submenu where a small list of videos are available where you train that particular muscle.
I have made a .psd with the images of the body in black and white, and about 10-12 layers where the same muscles are cut out and coloured red (highlighted areas which will light up while navigating in the menu). [URL]. There is the .psd file if you want to see what it looks like.
I would like a little more information on create a split rar archive in OS X 10.4.11. At the moment I have downloaded winrar and copied the rar file to /bin/ and I can execute the command
Code: rar a -v50000 testfile to create a split archive, each part 50mb each.
But the only problem with this is that it will create files using the extension .part#.rar and I would like it to use .r00 .r01 .r02 etc.
this is kind of an annoyance and I can't seem to find any answers online. My left column on Mail usually has 3 folders (inbox, sent, trash). That's how I like it. Every once in a while though, it creates a new folder under my email address. Why does this happen, and can I stop it? In case it helps, I only have 1 email address and it's a .me account. Also, I do send emails from my Mac, iPhone and occasionally [URL] from a work PC. I don't know if that's relevant, I just wanted to get as many facts out there as I can.
Every time I sign into MSN or start a conversation with someone, MSN creates a file in my doc's. Is there any real reason for this and is there a way to stop it? I find it incredibly annoying as it changes the order of my folders so I forever clicking the wrong one. I have tried hiding it, but it just created another folder.
I've (almost) created two iTunes LPs using the sample that Apple put up up on their website. On one I cannot get the music video to play and on the second I cannot access the lyrics pages for tracks 10 onwards by clicking on a button on the song list page unless I click on tracks 1 to 9 and use the arrows.
I've been creating outlines in Pages and it would be easy to be able to hide some of the information when i dont need to see it.. is there any app that allows me to hide some parts of the outline?
Seriously, it's absolutely ridiculous and brings my entire system to a crawl until I restart. Just look at how many page outs I have after iMovie is done making thumbnails of one seven minute clip:
My CPU usage during this process was around 10% so what gives? I have an early 2009 iMac with 4GB's of RAM.
I know there was an app recently (within the last year) that is supposed to be great for setting up sales pages and your items for ebay...does anyone know which app i am referring to?
I'm a mac newbie coming from linux. In order to not have all applications in the /Applications top folder, I create some empty folders in the /Applications folder and move apps there (to group apps).
Reflections/questions:
It seems to be ok for me to create folders in /Applications that are owned by me without giving a password, which seems a little bit funny. (/Applications belong to the admin group as also I am in and admin group can write in /Applications. In Linux I have to to "sudo mkdir" to make folders in the corresponding folders).
Is there any problem with moving apps (owned by root) into these new folders that are owned by me?
Is there anything other than iCal I can use to create a schedule? iCal just doesnt seem as easy as it could be to create a pretty basic schedule. Would prefer a free option but would also like to say apps I would have to pay for.
Is it possible to create your own Storyboards? It seems this would be a no-brainer for after market sales and to help those of us who use similar technology with Avid/Vegas/etc.
I am doing a Ph.D. research and always using my Mac to write my research. In addition to writing text, I sometimes need to create models that represent my research findings. Microsoft word doesn't help me to do that since I need to something professional that is easy to understand shows all relationships among different components. Are there any recommended tools which are simple that allow me to create models?
Ive noticed today, when i went to torrent some movies that when i add them, its not creating the file on my desktop, or anywhere on my mac But it still says its downloading? at the moment ive downloaded 62mb of a torrent and still no file has been created for it?
I'm sure there's some very easy way to do this, but I can't find it. (I can't even figure out how to do it in Word.) I made a layout for 4 postcards on one 8.5x11 page in Word Perfect, and I need to duplicate it in either Pages or Word, so I can actually use it.
I'm looking to take multiple documents and create one PDF file. Like scanning multiple pages of something and instead of having each page be a file, creating one file. In Preview, you can open multiple PDFs in the same window, but if you print (or Save to PDF from the print dialogue, it will only do each document as is. I would like to avoid loading multiple pages into Word and then exporting to PDF and I would also like to avoid having to buy Acrobat. Is this PDF function limited in OS X or am I missing something?
Basically I got a My Passport 500gb drive I want to use for work, the problem is I use both PC and Mac. Logically I have to set it up to Fat32, the problem is I do use files that are larger than 4gb. My solution is put a zip program in my external that can zip those exceptional files into smaller increments. I know winrar can do that for windows but I don't know any in Mac.
alternatively I can install MacDrive on PC but I can't install programs on PC(from work) compared to mac where I can run it off the external.
I tried to make my own icon using this tutorial, but when I export these settings (EDIT: Don't mind the nice Kindergarten Cop picture of California's Governor): [URL:...] I get this when I see the files info: [URL:...] but it just shows the "Preview" icon in the upper right corner, which means I can't really use it for any apps or anything. Can anyone help me out with this? I double checked every step of the tutorial, even tried it with just one single picture (even just a PSD file instead of TIFF).
Is this possible? I find it annoying to have a file open in Preview and then having to either locate it or save it to allow me to open it in something else (like Acrobat or Photoshop). An example: I have just been sent a pdf that I need to open in Acrobat pro to merge with another one. Using Entourage the only things I can do are save or open, opening it results in it opening in Preview - which is usually what I'd prefer, but in this instance, I need to edit it, so I have to save it somewhere and then open it again from Acrobat. Preview is great, don't get me wrong, and not having to open up the whole program first in most cases is brilliant, but sometimes it's a pain that I can't subsequently open the file I'm previewing in a different program.
I'm a serious photographer and do my post processing in Capture NX2 (2.2.4). Sometimes, especially when saving files, it drags on interminably. I have read that one way to speed up NX2 is to create a scratch disk. I'm currently upgrading my HD on my iMac G5 (Leopard) to a 1TB HD. Would it be wise (and efficient) to create a partition on the new HD and use it as a scratch disk? I understand you can't use the boot drive as a scratch disk, but if I partition will I be able toname the new partition something other than Macintosh HD, thus permitting use of a scratch disk?
I don't want aperature or iphoto to create their own libraries, I would like to work on a photo in pictures and the relevant folder and leave it there and not create another copy elsewhere. I recently read an article/tip on how to do this but can't find the relevant magazine.
I have a friend who wants me to create a DVD using pictures from a project in iMovie 09. I am in region one. Can I change the region to four before I burn a DVD in iDVD 09? If so, I then want to change it back to region one.
