OS X :: Drag Files Into Media Player From My Mac Computer
Jul 11, 2009
Just got a Sumvision Cyclone Media Player and connected to my mac book pro. It found the drive called as "New Volume". Open the folder and had different folders inside: Movies, Music, Pictures, System Volume Information. If I get into the folders as for example "Movies" files I cannot drag any files to the folders since a message comes for example:
The item "XXXXX.avi" could not be moved because "New Volume" cannot be modified. What should I do? Is that because I am using a Mac computer? And if so do I need to erase and reformat the drive or what? Desperate here.
I was wondering if it is possible to use VLC media player or video LAN to stream divx videos off the internet. I like to watch divx videos on stagevu but i dont like to use divxs player because it seems buggy. I have downloaded VLC before I had the divx player and couldnt figure out how to get it to play streamed videos. Is VLC capable of this or is it just for media on the hard drive or a disc.
Digital movies play just fine on my camera, a NIkon Coolpix but once I import them to either quicktime or windows media player they do not play smoothly. Any ideas why or what I can do to correct this?
Info: quicktime or windows media player , Windows XP, camera digital films won't play
As you know, Boot Camp 3.0 allows the window partition to see Mac files and folders without additional software.
I am trying to set up Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center to use on my Xbox 360.
When I tell Windows Media Player to load files from a Mac folder, I can navigate to that folder no problem, but after going through the steps, it fails to load ANY media.
When I have an Iphone or Ipod attached to the computer and showing up in Itunes, I was just wondering how to drag and drop movies or music directly to the media device, without first dragging it into the Itunes media library or into a playlist. I used to be able to do this. Since then, I must have updated Itunes or reinstalled it or something. But now I can't drag and drop anything directly onto the media player. I can't create new playlists directly on the media player either (I have to open them under "Playlists" and then checkmark them to be synched. I'm assuming there must be some sort of simple setting in the options that I've changed.
When I add media files into an event by dragging and dropping the file into the project the file does not get moved/copied 'Macintosh's HD Projects' folder.
Is there a setting somewhere I can change so dragging and dropping behaves the same way as when I use CMD+I to import a file?
I am using the most up-to-date version of FCPX in Mavericks.
I have downloaded a movie which came as a DVD player media document. I can view it on the Mac but don't understand how to burn it onto a disk to play on my DVD player. The apps I have don't recorgnize it. First time I have encountered this so sorry if it is a very basic question.
i am trying to listen to a radio station in firefox but i cant get it to work. i tried it on my windows laptop and it looks like it is windows media. so how the heck am i supposed to play streaming windows media files?
i was trying to download the windows media player from the apple site`s link - donwloads, but i cant !?! also, im trying to watch some online tv, but i need windows media player. i go to their site

I just inherited this 6 month old macbook aluminum unibody and I am still getting used to it.
In order to do so I want to ask the experts what is the best Media player out there for my machine. One that covers plenty of different popular formats? Or a plugin type? I'm not realy savvy on this subject and I want to do the right thing. This is mainly for video viewing.
I have flip4mac, windows media player 9 and all the plugins that I supposedly need for this to work. I get "Firefox cant view Media Player, Click here".
I'm figuring out some stuff on guitar and need sections of a piece to repeat over and over to make the task easier. Does anyone know of a free media player that will allow you to repeatedly repeat a chosen section. It's a feature a lot of dvd machines have.
The media player should be able to apply this feature to flv files.
DVD Player won't read most of my commercial DVD media. I insert the disk, and it shows up on the desktop. But when I try to run it through the DVD app, the program just freezes, and I get the beach ball. I tried opening through VLC player, and even VLC wouldn't correctly read the disk.
I have the original Apple-shipped Superdrive, as well as an external Lacie drive. I tried disks in both drives with the same result.
I don't know why but I was having problems with wmp, so i decided to throw it in the recycle bin and just dl it again, and re install. So when i tried to empty the Trash, a box comes up telling me a certain file within wmp cannot be deleted cause its "protected".
after installing VLC in my mac book , my .wmv files are no longer playable with windows media player, i was able to play them just fine before that ( more than 6 months)
i uninstal VLC
I uninstall WMP, reinstall it and no luck. WMP crash right after i open the file , i made sure that when i put it in the bin WMP got deleted cause i was getting errors that a bunch of files were locked
Trying to download vlc-2.0.1 dmg and I get a message that "Safari can't complete the download because there isnt enough free disc space". The staus on my hard drive shows 916 GB available, so I don't understand. Had no trouble with other downloads (Office 2011).
To play wmv files I downloaded Windows Media Player for Mac. It came in a .bin file. Which I extracted using unarchiver it produces a .sitx file. Which I again tried extracting but it shows an error saying this file cannot be extracted with this program. I downloaded WMP from two three sources but got the same file so same issues. And I don't prefer flip4mac as everytime you try and play a video it starts importing which takes time.
Anyone know how to disable Flip4Mac and QuickTime so that I can use Windows Media Player 9? I need to use WMP9 on a couple of websites that do not work with Flip4Mac/QuickTime. Previously I had just opened the WMV Upgrade that is in the Flip4Mac folder and unchecked Use Flip4Mac WMV Browser plug-in and then relaunched Safari. But now even when I uncheck Flip4Mac, it, and QuickTime continue to open.
I'm about to pull the trigger on a Mac Mini and make the switch to OSX. However, there is a TV subscription that I use that plays the channels through windows media player. I tried watching them on my sister's Macbook but it didn't work - Quicktime replaced the WMP box and said that there was an unknown source or something.
