View 8 RepliesAs of last a few days ago, AOL has officially banned my account for a ludicrous reason; they said I was in breach of some sort of age restriction. Anyway, now I use g-mail, and everything's been great, besides the fact that my old AOL account was what I used to set up every online account I've ever made, including my Apple Account. How would I switch my account email address without any current access to my old one?

Figured it would be a little lighter to have a thread that shows that Apple's computer CAN and DO work occasionally....Here's my uptime on my i7! It wants me to reboot for Safari update, but I refuse. As of 8:42am PST, March 16, 2010:I guess currently I have the longest uptime of anyone in this thread!

Can I simply copy the partition from my current 320gb drive and boot the operating system from the new 10,000 rpm drive without reinstalling Leopard?

I tried to find a way to do this a number of months ago and my recollection was that I ended up with a script that added the current date to a folder as a one time operation. I am looking for something that can keep this constantly updated with the /current/ date. This way I can keep this file (with the current date) in my backups and know almost immediately which external volume has the most recent data.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just opened my Trash bin, and there were maybe 12-15 items in ithere. But when I use Secure Delete, the pop-up box says there are 931 items, and it then proceeds to delete them---I guess.I only saw the 12-15 files, and that's it.

I use an eMac, 1.25 Gz, PC 4, version 10.4.11 with 768 MG. If I do a simple upgrade--not an entire installation--of Leopard, will this affect my current programs and files? Upgrading with a whole installation of Leopard seems to involve some complicated operations that I'd like to avoid.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have switched from pc to mac now for about 1.5 years and I LOVE mac! I'm still learning a ton but i was wondering if I should switch from running tiger and install leopard. I mainly use photoshop and final cut and had heard that there were some problems with running photoshop with leopard. not sure if that's true though. I would do an erase and install and start completely fresh.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI am getting sick OF SL screwing up and giving me beachballs, so I want to up/down-grade (however you see it) back to Leopard. Problem is I have Windows 7 installed via BootCamp with all my games, and I dont want to reinstall all that. If I reinstall Leopard, do I just install over SL or do I have to install on the whole hard drive and then reinstall Win7 and my games in Bootcamp?

I'm having some problems with Snow Leopard, in 64 bit mode. Is there a way to turn it to 32 bit ? I'm using a Mac mini 2.53 GHz Core 2 Duo with 4 GB (the max it will ever have), so I don't think it needs 64 bit.
Is there any advantage/disadvantage to run in 32 bit, if you just have 4 GB of ram ?
If I select from the menu bar another available wireless network (one without a password for example) and then switch back to my own wi-fi network, am I still safe?
Did the fact that I connected to another network present any risks?
I did not send any private info during that time, any risks of getting hacked?
Sometimes restarting is not enough: you need to power off your Mac, wait for a little, and power it on again. It could be a script which act like the "schedule" program in system preferences: it would switch off the Mac immediately, the add 1 minute to the current time and switch it on again.

I finally upgraded to Snow Leopard (clean install, then restored backup via migration assistant), and wanted to make use of the three and four finger gestures on the trackpad. However, in my system preferences - trackpad - there is no option for further gestures or similar. My macbook is fairly old (mid-2007), is the trackpad not equipped for that?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a site that I made with iWeb on my iMac. Now I have a second Mac, a Mini, and I am trying to use it to work on my site but I can't figure out how to access the current site with iWeb. All it seems to want to do is create new sites. My site is saved to the "Sites" folder on my hard drive, and uploaded to my MobileMe space. Yet there doesn't seem to be any way to open the site, from either location, with iWeb on the Mini.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 17" iMac G4 that I was rung Tiger with, then I installed Leopard 10.5. I use this as a second computer. All is fine except that my Epson scanner does not work with 10.5. I've tried the latest drivers. I'd like to reinstall Tiger. I used the 10.5 disc to reformat the drive and start from square one. When I boot from my original Tiger disc it starts opening it's windows, but when I get to the point where I can choose Install or use Disk Utility to reformat from the Tiger disc, all windows freeze and I need to hard reboot from the power switch. Am I correct to assume that 10.5 won't let 10.4 to reinstall. Is this correct?
View 5 Replies View RelatedHow many others are having issues with their applications opening up much, much slower (example Bento taking a min as compared to seconds before applying the patch) since the last OSX Security Update.
View 1 Replies View RelatedBasically, pressing CMD+TAB or the 4 finger swipes will bring up the switch applications bar, and I'll switch apps. Say I'm flicking between iTunes and Safari, sometimes Safari will just disappear from the switch applications list and I end up selecting Finder instead.
Other times, the switch applications list just doesn't appear, but it still switches applications (i.e. it doesn't appear but if I press CMD+TAB twice, it'll switch to whatever application is third in the list).
I use CMD+TAB (4 finger swipes) all the time to switch between two active applications. If I'm working in Final Cut, I'll switch between FCP and a PDF file that has the sequence I'm working on outlined. Now, when I flick between the two, I end up switching to the wrong application etc.
This only happens if you are switching quickly. Press CMD+TAB and then press it again a couple of seconds later and you'll experience it too.
My daughter is bilingual and somehow switched Mail to spell check in Spanish. But now she cannot figure out how to change it back to select the English dictionary.
Leopard is easy (there you can control-click the spellchecked redlined word for a contextual menu with dictionary management on it).
But Mail v2.3.3, on Tiger at least, does not work the same way.
what I want to do is just switch between speakers (AirTunes, Apple TV and my Mac) without having to click on the speakers drop-box and select one.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been using Firefox for several years now, but I'm planning on switching to Safari because it's so much faster. But there are two annoying things that are preventing me from doing so:
1) In Firefox, I can simply add a Bookmark or a Folder directly under the URL box (image below). How do I achieve this in Safari 4.0.3?
2) How can I view the CSS code of a Website that I'm currently viewing?
