iPhoto is great, but I need something like windows Paint, that can edit photos, i.e. color in/out a license plate on a car pic and what not. I'm looking for a simple and hopefully free equivalent, not a professional program at this time. I'm new to mac, so I don't know what's out there and didn't see anything listed in the help menu for mac apps here.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIts been a while since I have switched over to mac now but basically the only thing I miss about windows is MS Paint, I liked to have the free, simple photo editing tool, I basically just used it for cropping screenshots and things of that nature, anyway, I'm wondering if there is any free equivalent of MS Paint for mac.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI love my new mac mini but I miss paint. I used it alot for simple editing, such as resizing an image, cutting in it and maybe add some text.. stuff like that. I cant really find another program that does the same things in a quick and simple way.
also, how the hell do I take a snapshot of the screen when there's no print screen button?
Googled/searched the forums for this, didn't find a whole lot.Found this --> http://tenonedesign.com/sketch.php, which seems cool/accurate for only $15. But what I'm wondering is what app this uses to capture the input. Is there another app that just lets me use my finger?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently switched from Windows to Mac. On my PC I used to use the application Paint to edit photos a lot, just to erase part of a picture or use the 'paintbrush.' Now I would like to be able to do the same thing on my mac. What software (preferably free, but cheap will do) can I get for my mac to do the same thing?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm wanting to buy a used lower spec mac tower, and fix it up as a little project. Aside from the typical upgrades one might do, I would love to have the case painted. I was wondering, it possible to take the chassis apart into pieces? (after gutting it of course) What holds these things together? Rivets? Something I'd need a specialty tool for? Or perhaps it cant be done?

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 on my iMac. I also have iPhoto as it came with the iMac when I bought it. I don't really want to use iPhoto at all. I want to use PSE. How do I set my computer to open PSE when I insert my memory card or when I plug in my iPhone or for any other thing that uses photos? Can I just completely uninstall iPhoto?Â

I am sitting here at tullys coffee in seattle (suprise) with my 13" air for the first time and realizing it's a bit big for the table! I also got the 11" which I must say is the perfect size hands down for this situation. Im sure I am not alone in this.....of course the large screen is nice but the 11" is really not that much smaller. It just prooves just HOW portable the 11" is.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI was using Entourage and loved the Project part of the software. For individual projects it keeps scheduled events, contacts, emails and files all associated together. However, my university's IT asked me to stop using Entourage due to some networking issue so I've started with iCal and Address Book and I'm looking for something to replace Entourage's Project.
I've looked at Bento, and Soho Notes, but they don't seem to have a scheduling side to them and I don't think one can just drop different sorts of files into the relevant project. Other pieces software I've heard of are Yojimbo, DevonThink, Soho Organizer and some Omni softwares, but I'm not sure if they will be any better and the learning curve on a couple of these makes this a hard endeavor on my own.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just found out about pollux [URL] from TUAW and unfortunately I found out a little too late. It seems to be this great app that works similar to Shazam on the iPhone. It reads through your iTunes library and fixes all your songs to have proper titles, albums, album art, etc. The servers are down according to the site. I don't know how long this has been the case and don't know how long it's going to last. Does anyone have any FREE alternatives that they know of?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI love Apple Mail, but it simply can't handle the bulk of mail I have/receive/need readily available. I thought it was just the number of accounts I was using, but on my new machine I currently only have my personal one and it is DREADFULLY slow (I can't even delete messages in bulk, I have to break them up by scores; which may not seem that big a deal until you're deleting a sent box with 40,000 messages in it). Any suggestions for a Pro grade replacement? Something that can handle multiple accounts, moving large amounts of messages at once, bulk forwards, mail lists, etc.? Freeware preferred but shareware or payware is fine.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMuch like (I bet) most of you, I used to use FLIQLO as my screensaver of choice. Unfortunately, after installing Snow Leopard, it stopped working! Today, I decided to create my own type of FLIQLO screensaver called "FlipClock." Here's a screenshot: Here's the download link: FlipClock Installation is simple. Open up System Preferences, go to Desktop & Screen Saver then drag the screensaver to the Preview pane. This will install it. Select it for use, and away you go.
View 9 Replies View RelatedHow is Team Viewer for a "back to my mac" replacement?
I am interested in it for it's good price (free?) and being windows/mac compatible... so i can have renders running in windows and run them from home...
how is Team Viewer in general?
So I have some folks that have become very dependent on idrive and being able to mount cloud storage on a mac and being able to manage the file and directory structure like a traditional drive. With iDrive going away what is the best option out there? iCloud is cool and all but is there a way to mount it as a drive and maintain traditional folder and file structure?

I've had my first generation MBP since April of 2006. And my history of repairs on this thing is insane. I will list them later.
Just last week, I brought it in for intermittent brightness/dimming and it came back worse than before with the machine turning off by itself after 6 seconds of booting.
So it's back in repair. The genius says, if the same thing keeps happening, they'll have to give me a new mbp.
Which mbp do you think they'll give me (if they can't fix it)? The same one I have, the previous c2d or the latest one?
Here's a list of the problems I've had since I had my MBP:
Problem 1: Logic board, inverter, battery (due to recall) replaced
Problem 2: Top keyboard assembly replaced
Problem 3: Release latch assembly replaced
Problem 4: Logic board, fan assembly and something else replaced
Problem 5: Keyboard assembly replaced due to dancing backlight
Problem 6: Battery replaced having only 100ish battery cycles
(Current) Problem 7: Display inverter board, logic board, inverter/camera cable replaced
Seriously, I do IT consulting and w/o my main machine, it has simply been a pain in the @ss with a secondary one.
I was wondering if it is possible to have the non-Unibody MBP top case sit flush with the bottom after replacing the HDD. On a couple previous generation MBPs, I, nor my local Apple Authorized Repair Center were able to replace the hard drive without leaving a noticeable gap between the top case and the bottom. I would really like to put a SSD in my computer, but would not like my machine to have that terrible looking gap. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on how to prevent this gap, if it all possible?
