Applications :: Moving Projects From Cubase SX3 To Logic Studio 8?
Nov 28, 2007
ive been a PC user for long but recieved my macbook a cpl of days ago, and this weekend im gonna start the incredible work load of converting my Cubase SX3 projects into Logic.Since Cubase suck there is no easy way to "consolidate all tracks...", to mix down each channel to a separate track automatically. I will have to do it manually. Track by track. 50+ projects, maybe 15-20 channels in each. Anyway, that was not a question, but this is.
1. Is there any easy way to copy midi tracks from Cubase to Logic? Just the information that tells the chosen instrument how to play. Not any instrument setting, just the track information. I hope you get what im after. Maybe i should rephrase, Is there any way to copy MIDI information from Cubase to Logic?Even tho i will mix down the miditracks aswell i want to save the information in case i want to try playing it with one of Logics synthesizers instead of the instrument i used in Cubase.
Does anybody know what the specific differences are between Logic Studio and Logic Express?
Also, is there any place where I can get Logic Studio for cheaper than the $499 retail price? The cheapest place I found I was at MacMall for only $49 cheaper.
Can anybody find anyplace cheaper, preferably around $350 or lower?
i need to replace my older Imac ( 5 years old )with a new one, thinking about few models but a bit confused with all the posts I don t do gaming and mostly use the computer with music applications such as Protools, or may go with Logic or Cubase. i m hesitating between buying the a 2009 Imac ( 21 or 27) most likely refurbished
or
the latest one the 21.5 3.06 or the 3.26
or
or a refurbished i5 27
Would that really matters knowing the type of applications i use? Would one be much more suited for my needs knowing that i money can be an issue ( though if i have to i will spend the few extra dollars)
i wish to move all of my iMovie work onto an external hard drive. However, upon doing this, everytime I open up iMovie, the projects and events are all empty. How can I get the application to read from the external?
Is there anyway to move the top two iMovie folders (Events and Projects) into one single folder? When I try and do it in Finder, iMovie then won't read the files.
So I just got a look at the Logic Studio 2 Package and was a really interested in MainStage. I play a Gibson Les Paul 1957 Standard and an ESP Horizon FR-II. I currently only have one guitar effect pedal and a large Crate amp - those I am planning on upgrading until I saw MainStage. I saw some videos that you can select different model amps and effects to use live and for recording.
What would be the ideal device to get so I could plug my guitar in? Is there a pedal board I could use to program and change effects in MainStage?
Is the audio content from Final Cut Studio 2 the same as the content from Logic Studio 9 Audio Content 1 Audio Content 2 Audio Content 3 Are these the same for both Final Cut Studio 2 and Logic Studio 9? Or do the LS9 audio content DVDs contain more/different things? Also, if the LS9 content is the same and more, can i install the Audio Content for LS9 and then delete the content that came with FCS2 to free up about 20gb of disk space?
I have never been able to understand the setting up of scratch discs when working from multiple external HDDs? I am using final cut pro 7 to edit 2 projects at the moment, each of which are on separate external hard drives. Â
I was under the impression that you set the scratch disc folder on the imac itself and obviously set up the projects to direct to that folder. Is this true? Do ALL fcp projects go to same folder?Â
What I am also confused about is whether or not I should be setting separate scratch disc folders for each project in each external HDD? I need to take my HDDs home to use on MacBook Pro, I'm currently editing on iMac. Â
I set up scratch folder in one of the HDDs and finished the project and then set up new project and new scratch disc in other HDD and it appears to keep the setting for both projects!? Â
I have resqued all my photos from my back up, and I was making one single library but I decided to make a different library for " my trips' .. How can i transfer project from my 'New library" to my 'trips library' there are many projects and i want to do it as fast as I can. working on Aperture 3 and an Imac with mavericks.
Anybody on here using Logic Studio? If so, how do you find it?
I've read that logic 8 is poor on time stretching / elastic audio, anyone have first hand experience? Any sign of an update to Logic Studio, it'd be annoying to buy it only for it to be updated in a few months.
Am thinking of getting the Air and would be interested in hearing from anyone who tries Logic Studio (8 or 9) on it.
I know it won't handle as much as my 24" iMac or have nearly as much screen real estate, but it would be nice to be able to record multitrack with a compact USB audio interface and I'm curious to find out how the SSD factors in.
Can I run Logic Pro Studio on a single 1.8 G5? The specs say I need a dual processor for some of the things that need to be done. It's actually not for me but for a musician who is a relative of mine --
-- this is the 8 gig total ram single 1.8ghz.
Does anyone know if this will just choke on Logic Pro?
I am looking to do alot of recording with Logic Studio, and was wondering which would be better? are the old i5's still a lot faster than the new i3's? I will also be doing a bit of photoshopping and Premiere.
Last week I ordered my Macbook Pro with the 2.4 Ghz cpu and I was quite sure the cpu will do the application. But now I've read some threads about Logic Studio, where people say that Logic supports Hyperthreading and therefore I doubt that my macbook will last for the next years. Maybe a better cpu will last longer.
The problem is that I cannot cancel my order anymore .
What do you think about the cpu's in reference to Logic and what would you do?
I know you can drag the right 'bracket' on the bar ruler or you can type in a value in the transport under the tempo. But on my system, I can only get it to bar 21601 and no further.
You may be thinking, what am I doing? Composing a 13 hour song?
I just have some files with time stamps on them and a few say they go beyond my project end. I'm hoping there's a setting where I can extend the limit.
My imac - Running - 10.5.8 Processor - 2.5 GHz Intel core duo 2 Memory - 1 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAMÂ I run logic studio on it in my studio. For a good few months its been always having the ''system overload'' message come up on logic so ive been using my laptop instead but i really need to use my imac now as ive just finished builing my studio. About a month ago the memory on the Mac HD was completly full except 1GB. Ive been through deleting almost everything! and trasffering it all onto my new 3TB external HD. Yet still the memory on the Mac HD is still used mostly up;Capacity - 237.57 GB Avaliable -Â 24.86 GB Used - 207.71 GBÂ My questions are, how do i free up more space? I can't seem to find much saved on my computer anymore only my itunes music which is no more than 10GB. Surley Logic Pro and a few other programs dont take up loads of space. My other question is how can i speed up my computer? so it doesnt come up with the ''system overload'' messages? Â
Info: iMac (20-inch Early 2008), Mac OS X (10.5.8), logic studio
With the impending demise of Mobile Me, I'll be making some changes. In order to utilize the full capabiliteis of new Mobile Me I'd need to upgrade to OS X.I have not yet done so because I have and use FCS 3 and Logic 9, both of which have been reported as having compatibility problems with Lion. I write to ask the status especially of compatibility between Lion and Logic 9. With sadness I understand that FCS 3 will never work with Lion, so I'll also ask of any FCS 3 users who have upgraded: what have you done to be able to work with your video created in FCS 3?
Info: iMac 3.16 Ghz 4 GB RAM, Mac OS X (10.5.8), also use MB 2.06 Ghz 2 GB RAM & iMac 2 Ghz 2 GB RAM
Is it likely? Aperture is a pro app and is on there, and it'd make sense if they also added Logic and Final Cut - it'd be like a professional version of iWork with the whole set.
i have maybe 30 - 40 currently active projects. These range from re-styling my home, writing essays, organising exhibitions at work, running budgets etc.
Currently I use a combination of OmniFocus, iCal, folders, Mail. OmniFocus is great for my task lists but I'm looking for an app that would allow me to see, for each project, all the relevant source material: pdfs, docs, images, etc
Im creating an application that focus on organizing notes and projects, and syncing them between Mac, iPhone and iPad So I would like to know your opinion about what would you like to see on an application like this. Some new features you havent seen anywhere.
In starting new Xcode projects, errors occur or appear to occur. How can I delete or remove all the related files so I can start over? Now I just start over with a new name and all those trash files build up. I would like to remove some projects, complete or not, and all related files from the computer.
Can anyone tell me if there is a good notes application that lets me organise notes into categories/projects/folders. I am looking for something that has both a mac and an iphone version and will sync multiple macs and iPhone over the web using mobile me for example.
I'm not looking for a task manager - I'm already using omnifocus for that and in an ideal world I am looking for something very similar to omnifocus but that is notes based rather than task based.
I'm not looking for a files/documents depository either - I use Evernote for that.
Just need simple text notes..
Edit - I have found Soho Notes which basically does what I want, (mac client, iphone client, notes in folders, mobile me sync) but I find the interface a bit cheesy with all those icons...ideally looking for something a bit more minimalist - I like the look of Mori and Mark/space Notebook but they don't have iphone versions...
Edit2 - Having looked further into Soho Notes, there seems to be a lot of complaints about the syncing and corrupt databases...I have also looked at MacJournal which is along the lines of what I'm after but again quite a lot people having problems with the sync by the sound of it so still looking...
I've installed Leopard and iPhoto '09 on my Mac. I have iPhoto 6 on an external hard drive. How do I import the iPhoto 6 photos and book projects into iPhoto '09 (I also want iPhoto '09 library to be on the external hard drive)?
So last December my laptop got smashed and everything works except for the backlit screen. In fact I can still use this laptop it is just extremely hard since the screen does not light up. The person that smashed it ended up buying me a new laptop so I have this beat up (and I mean the shell is destroyed) laptop with quite a lot of functioning parts.
Now a few weeks ago my girlfriends Grandad spilled a beer on his brand new 2010 Macbook. The logic board is shot so it is almost cheaper for him to buy a brand new laptop.
Would it be possible for me to take the logic board out of my 2008 Black Macbook and put it into his 2010 White Macbook?
