View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm currently using a MBP 13 inch and am running Leopard on it.
I just bought a copy of snow leopard today but i don't know if I should do a direct upgrade from leopard to snow leopard, or wipe my MBP and do a fresh install so i have snow leopard on a clean slate.
Have any of you tried the second option before? Or do any of you have advice on which path I should take?
I thought it might be useful to compile a list of apps we know won't work on Leopard (in case there are any mission-critical apps people need that won't work) and details of when updates are due (if known). The list so far is on MacRumors Guides here. add further updates there as well as posting in the thread (preferably if you have confirmed directly with the developer regarding compatibility and an expected fix date, if any).

View 24 Replies View RelatedWill CS3 design premium install and run relatively smoothly on a brand new snow leopard mac? I primarily use illustrator, photoshop, and indesign, in that order. I'll either be getting an imac or mac mini. I've seen a lot of conflicting information regarding this, everything from "I can't even get it installed" to "it works stupendously!" So, what's the deal? And will I be able to use a new wacom tablet with this set up?

View 11 Replies View RelatedIs anyone running PhotoShop Elements 4.0 on Leopard? I installed Leopard last week only to discover that PhotoShop Elements 2.0 won't even launch anymore. Adobe says Elements 4.0 isn't designed for Leopard. But, I'm now desperate for photo editing software. I've got about 5 years of learning invested in PhotoShop Elements. So, I'd prefer not to have to learn a new package.
I'm going to try out Acorn to see if I can get it to work. I downloaded Pixelmator. It looks sharp! But, the brother who designed it seem to have gone missing and their forums report many and major bugs when running it on Leopard (even though it was supposedly designed for Leopard). I just need basic functionality to save pictures for my website. Just a lasso tool to drop out the backgrounds, change the contrast and brightness and to be able to save to .gifs and jpegs.
I was just wondering if there were any programs like Endnotes for Leopard, I now Endnotes has a Mac version, but its a resource hog and old.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI would like to use the Notepad++ on my new Mac, I found out (after a lot og Googling) that I need and Mac version of the Wine - the Darwine to be able to run it. So I got the 1.1.7 version of the Darwin form HERE After the installation I have the Darwine folder inside the Applications and it contains:
- Sample WineLib Applications
- Wine.Bundle
- WineHelper
Afterwards I got the Notepad++ from HERE. I downloaded the executable file (npp.5.1.3.Installer.exe) Now - my understand it about how to run the Notepad++ correctly is following:
1) Run the Wine.Bundle
2) Click "Choose the application"
3) Do so
- But just I can not choose the "npp.5.1.3.Installer.exe".
- If I just run the npp.5.1.3.Installer.exe direcly via clickung on it - it crashes
- If I try to run the WineHelper - it also crashes ....
I know that ClamAV is one of the better anti-virus programs out there for Mac OS X, but I hate having to use the terminal every time that I want to run a scan. Does anyone know of a comparable anti-virus program that is reliable and that has actually caught anything that is harmful to the Mac OS? I don't mind paying for a program that I know for sure works (I already have Little Snitch and love that program).

I think the problem was that I left a box unticked during the ADD ACCOUNT.
Is there any way I can go back and fix it?
I am finding that it is tough (if actually possible) to run the Classic Environment with Leopard on Intel-based Macs. However, I have an iBook G4 from mid-2005 that came with Panther. I upgraded to Leopard, and so lost the capability of running Mac Classic.I recently bought a study book for a college exam, but the software it came with requires Mac Classic, which I cannot run. Is there a simple way of making this work? I tried SheepShaver, but I couldn't figure out how to make that do anything useful

View 3 Replies View RelatedBasically I installed Snow Leopard but am not happy with it, buggy etc. I want to downgrade to regular Leopard. Is there any way I can do a Time Machine backup now just to save my "user files" and not my system files. Basically I would like to do a system restore but take my current state of user files in Snow Leopard. Is this possible?
View 23 Replies View RelatedI was just wondering if when I install Snow Leopard if it will remove all the Leopard applications and replace them with Snow Leopard-formatted applications, or if it will just edit the applications to work with Snow Leopard. My iCal is behaing exceptionally weird. I can't resize my screen. If i change from month to week it stops showing some events, every time I hit the "Show To-Do's" Button it doesn't work and alot of other bugs that make it absolutely unusable.
I've tried re-installing it from the SL DVD, upgrading to 10.6.1 (from software update AND apple's download page), and even trying to delete all my calendars info form my library. Nothing worked.
Since I upgraded to Snow Leopard I can't get album artworks and download lyrics. Is it normal?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a server in a far off land that I occasionally need to download files from via SFTP. I can only max out my connection by uploading back to my home machine from the server. This means that I need a FTP server to run on my home machine. I've successfully used pureFTP before but it didn't seem to work for me on 10.6 and I couldn't find an updated version. I then resorted to purchasing Rumpus....which SOMETIMES works. It seems to timeout an awful lot of the time though. So my question is, does anyone know of any FTP servers than I can run on a Snow Leopard machine that also have a GUI front end (because I'm a coward and hate using Terminal....although will do if an especially good solution is found!)?
