I use the midi learn feature in logic pro, and it works well. But then I turn off the computer and midi controller and when I open logic again, it does not remember what it had learned.
View 3 RepliesI just recently purchased Logic Express 9. I am having difficulty getting the application to play my external MIDI gear.
I selected the appropriate track type (external MIDI), then selected from the library a MIDI device and channel. Logic sees the MIDI devices that I configured through Apple's "�Audio/MIDI interface� app".
This is my setup�
Logic Express is installed on an iMac with 4GB Memory running the latest version of MAC OS 10.x Snow Leopard.
I�m using a Motu Fastlane 2x2 MIDI Interface with Motu�s latest driver installed.
Connected to the Port A input of the Fastlane is a Yamaha P-80 that I am using as a MIDI controller and whose sounds I also want to use. Connected to the two output MIDI ports of the Fastlane are the Yamaha P-80 and a Roland JD990 MIDI synth module. In are correctly routed to outs and vice versa.
The Fastlane is recognized by the MAC computer. Also Logic Express sees the instruments I configured within the Apple�s �Audio/MIDI interface� app.
I am able to use the P-80 keyboard to record MIDI data to Logic Express for either an internal instrument track or an external MIDI track. The soft synths in the internal tracks play with no problem. For an External MIDI track, I see the data in the Piano roll view. When I play the track, no sound comes out but I see the output MIDI data indicated at the bottom of the arrangement window. Also my external MIDI gear�s audio outs are patched into an audio mixer connected to powered monitor speakers. So I would definitely hear the devices if they were receiving MIDI information. The MIDI indicator lights on the external devices are not flashing when Logic is playing back the data.
So obviously I have an output communication issue. Either something is not set properly within the Logic software or the �Audio/MIDI interface� app.
When I open up the �Audio/MIDI interface� app and click on test. I am able to here the tone when I press the keyboard which indicates the Motu Interface is receiving data from the keyboard. However, when I click on the port�s output arrow that is supposed to send a tone to the MIDI instruments, I hear nothing which is consistent with what is happening within Logic.
I know the Motu Fastlane works because I used it for a long time in a Windows based system. I have checked each wire and they check out as well. I have checked and double checked each connection and they are set properly. At this point, I am not sure what to do to correct this problem.
I have a yamaha mm6 keyboard which I have connected to my mac using midi, in logic express it shows that it is detecting the notes, yet nothing plays through the laptop speakers! I am selecting external midi when I make a new track btw. If I record something it even shows the notes as I play, but no sound. I want to use the instruments on the keyboard but don't know how to do this. Also I have a boss dr 670 drum machine and I can't get that to work at all in logic, the keyboard worked if I used a software instrument in logic. I want to also use the drums from the machine and things like it's quantizing, but I can't get logic to pick it up at all.

Is it likely? Aperture is a pro app and is on there, and it'd make sense if they also added Logic and Final Cut - it'd be like a professional version of iWork with the whole set.

Now, I can only change the volume pressing Fn + the volume up key. The question is: how can i change between the key assignments ? Like.. if I'm listening music I want to access pressing one key, but when I'm working I would like to have the dashboard on that key. I want to put volume up but the dashboard appears.

I've tagged a lot of faces and I thought once iPhoto had a certain number of images of a face it would be able to sort the remaining pictures better. But there are a lot of faces popping up under each thumbnail and they look nothing like the people I'm trying to tag. Was I expecting too much of FACES? Could I be doing something wrong?

Boy was I wrong.I saw one in best buy when picking up the new U2 cd last week, and thought I'd look at them online when I got home just out of interest. I am currently a sophomore studying engineering and find myself using tons of notebooks and paper for notes and homework. They usually get somewhat disorganized, I do keep subjects separate and homework separated by subject as well, but I have been looking for a better way of taking notes, a different way. I kept thinking that taking them on the computer would be so much better, if i needed to go further on the page couldnt I just scroll over and add something in? Zoom out to see the entire thing? Add notes to something where if I was using a notebook I'd just have to use another page or squeeze something in where I'd get totally confused.
So I looked at this online and realized that a tablet can be used for many other things. I purchased the Wacom Bamboo, i didnt need to extra software in the bamboo fun and I thought the Bamboo looked better, so I got it as Amazon.com and had it sent. I got it today and have had a ton of fun with it. First things first, I can use it as a mouse. It works really well although not quite as fast (yet) but with the 4 customizable buttons at the top for spaces and expose and turning on/off ink plus the scroll thing, its like a combo mouse/keyboard. I can write and it'll recognize my handwriting (apple's Ink software does, then inserts it into whereever the curser is in any program) although my handwriting is horrid. I do have to slow down for it to be read correctly. The two buttons on the pen can be used for right clicking and the other is for spaces. What a great alternative to the mouse.
Secondly, I am looking for an alternative for notetaking/homework assignments.Since Im in engineering I take classes that require doodles of pictures and math equations and such, which are impossible to do on the computer. I downloaded inkBook and have been trying it out. I can set the page to be fullscreen and i can add pages as I go. I can choose pencil/pen/highlighter/brush for my input, can change colors, and a cool feature of the tablet is that I can push harder and the lines get darker, or pull up and they get lighter. This is neat for having to draw reference lines that need to be there but distinguished from the rest. I really would like something that can organize all my notes in one location though, instead of having to open a new file each class. Something like evernote would be great, but the tablet function does not work (yet?) on the mac software.
So far it is great. I'm not sure if It will replace note taking for me this semester, but I may use it for homework assignments or re-writing notes just to get used to it and get a process down to possibly use starting in the fall semester as a complete replacement of a notbook (or mostly complete at least). inkBook is a nice piece of software, I'm not sure if it is the note taking software I'll end up purchasing. I have evernote but the mac client does not recognize tablet input from what I could tell using the program and reading the forums (if this is wrong please correct me and show me how to do this). I would really like to use something like evernote because of the syncing and separate notebooks to be used for different classes and such. I also tried microsoft word in notebook view, and it recognizes the tablet. The only thing is it is limited in how large a page will get. I still think i'll leave it as an option though as I already have purchased it.
If anyone has a better note-taking and organizing software let me know, It just has to have support for this tablet.All in all, a great $60 spent. My sister does work with pictures and some graphics so she may buy one of these after she sees it. If anything, I'm just doing my part to keep the economy going; afterall, it is a consumer economy and we have to buy things for it to work right? Well I had some spending money from work so I got this and a new lacrosse stick. Two completely justifiable purchases. Now I just need about $2500 so I can get a spiffy new macbook pro to speed up final cut. I'd love to put that $2500 into the economy if I had it.

I thought all my problems were solved when I discovered the wonderful real sounding steinway piano in garageband. So I input my piano score note for note into sibelius, then save it as a midi. Before I do it I input all my tempo edits such as rits, pauses and accelerandos and so on. I then drag my new midi into garageband and yes it plays beautifully only problem is it doesn't play any of my tempo instructions. Yes I have checked that they're playing back correctly in sibelius before I saved as midi. Pleas help me as I have practical exams for my students coming up very quickly and it is causing me severe stress

It seems that the bass drum is lower than my keyboard allows me to go. Is there any way of changing the octaves that a keyboard controls so I could lower down to the bass drum? I found the bass using the software keyboard but it is just a few notes lower than my keyboard goes.

The device is recognized on my Powerbook, but I can't get any audio playback from the keyboard. I've tried messing with settings on the keyboard, but still can't get it to play or record on my Powerbook. In GarageBand, Reason, and Audio MIDI Setup the device is properly recognized.

I have only just got a MIDI keyboard conencted via USB to control the software instruments on Garageband. The only problem I am finding is if I say, sample some drums, I can only play them back by manually placing them in the chord orchestrator.
What I basically need/want is to control the track (the part on the left) by a single press on the keyboard; so if I wanted 2 kicks to sound, I'd press the key twice. But at the moment it's just not registering at all, and only allows me to play the stock software instruments with the keyboard
Is there any way to make Safari only remember the username and not the password of a website when using Autofill? I've noticed that Firefox does this and Facebook does this in Safari when disabling "keep me logged in" (maybe a cookie feature?), and this is the exact behaviour I want.
I use 1Password and thats great, but I'd love to just type my password and automatically have the username show, and not keep having to type in my 1Password keychain's password.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I use Google to search for something and click on a result, then navigate back to the search results, the link that I just clicked shows up as visited (it is a different color). However when I refresh the results or search for the same results again, that very same webpage shows up as unvisited (same color as all other links on the page). I've narrowed this down to specifically an issue with Google, or at least not browser-wide (visited links are being remembered on CNN.com). I'm using Firefox 3.0.5, history is being remembered for 30 days in preferences. I've tried logging out of Google and searching as a guest and it still doesn't work. I've verified that it works correctly in Safari.
View 8 Replies View Relatedever since updating to 10.5.7, my Mail has been acting strange. I had both a MobileMe account and my university's POP account set up to work with Mail. After updating, it only kept the Mobile Me account. I didn't really think anything of it and just added an account for the university email. It all worked fine until I restarted my computer, where it again lost all the university stuff but kept Mobile Me. I did this another few times but nothing changed. I tried searching around to see if anyone else had this problem but came up with nothing. Does anyone know a solution to this?
