View 2 RepliesI've made a bit of a cock up with a website i've been developing, and being a bit new to all things Mac i've deleted some files.
Basically i've downloaded a copy of the website from the server to my local disc but the local copy also contained all my raw files PSD's etc. I didn't realise that transmit deleted the local copy before downloading and not merging them which is what most windows ftp software does.
Anyway, long story short, is there any way of restoring those files either via transmit or another bit of software ?
I need them to do (FTP to my webhost). Both of them cost the same amount to purchase. Transmit has a good track record with people but Flow seems prettier and offers touch gestures. I don't do anything crazy with FTP, pretty much just straight forward stuff to maintain a small forum and other personal sites.

I have around 10 different e-mail addresses that I check in Apple mail. All are POP3-configured, but now I want to change ALL of those account types to IMAP. On exactly the same server. Is this possible in any way...? By editing some config files or anything...?I just came back to Mac after a long period away, having just discovered the geniality of IMAP-mail.
I just got a new router, the netgear wndr3600. I have it set up and everything connects to it wired or wireless. The problem is that my macbookpro is only connecting in "g" standard and not "n". The transmit rate is 54. How do I change it to N. This is in the 2.4ghz band. I tried the 5ghz band and it went to the "a" standard. How do I get it to transmit in N?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am not sure how it happened but after upgrading the gmail account, the user accounts were changed from standard users to Mobile Me users. None of the users has ever had that type of account, and I am trying to figure out how to get it back to a standard user account. When the user attempts to log in, it asks for the user name, but also the Mobile Me user name (which they do not have). to make it worse, Mobile Me is no longer accpting new users, so I annot just add an account and log in using the new info.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have recently noticed that all of my accounts have become Standard accounts. I no longer have Administrator privileges for my computer (MacBook). I tried going through Root to change my normal account back to Administrator but according to my accounts preference pane even my Root account is listed as standard. I can check the allow user to be an administrator on this computer but it does not save this preference and will un-check once another user is selected or the window is closed.
I have also tried creating a new account through single user mode but again to no avail. How would I go about fixing this problem? I would like to install some new software and some software is no longer working the way it once did since this change.
Having enormous troubles with using Wifi on my MP. I've had this before and it's a PITA.The transmit rate just drops to 1 (it should be up in the 90s shouldn't it?) Is there any known fix? I'm using Leopard. Should I upgrade to Snow Leopard? Does this solve it?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been following this forum for quite some time after I first got an iPod touch and, recently, an MBP "17.Now, after I did some searches on the internet and couldn't find the answer, Im asking here:My MBP comes with a built-in draft-n wireless card. I bought a draft-n wireless router just for the purpose of utilizing greater wi-fi speeds, but there is one thing I noticed:when I boot MacOS and connect to the wireless network it shows me, tat the transmit rate of the network is 130 (Mbps I presume), on the other hand, when I boot to Windows (via Bootcamp) and connect to the same network - it shows a network speed of 280 Mbps. In both cases the transfer speed are relatively close and go up to 8-9 Megabytes per second.
View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know of a way to stream from an Airport Express unit to the Airport Base Station or a laptop?
My goal is to be able stream vinyls from my turntable to either my laptop, or even better, other airport expresses. I have a preamp connected to my MacBook via an RCA to USB "hub". I'm always using Final Vinyl to rip vinyls to WAVs. But this requires my laptop to be within a USB chord's distance from the turntable.
I was hoping there would be a way for the Express unit to transmit instead of receive. This is probably impossible. My assumption is that if the Express can extend a network, then it must have transmitting capabilities as well as receiving.
Any other recommendations to achieve my dream of "Wireless Vinyl"? I guess another stationary computer would do it, but I'm hoping there is something simpler than that.
I've connected my macbook 6.1 to my HD TV via a mini display port to HDMI cable. The picture is fine however I don't have any sound! Will I need a separate connection for audio on the macbook version I have (I know the newer ones are able to transmit picture and audio through the HDMI connection). Or this this a fault with the cables I have?

Is there a way to find an Ethernet Transmit Rate? I'm running a Mid 2010 Macbook Pro. For example, to find the wifi transmit rate, I know I can hold down OPTION and click on the wifi icon in the menu bar and view various wifi specs in the pane that drops down. I also know how to look up LINK SPEED via Network Utility > info > ethernet/wifi, etc....Â
Is there even such a thing as an ethernet transmit rate, or am I creating my own vocabulary?
When the computer is off does it still transmit bluetooth signal or do I have to turn it off too?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy 2.4 ghz IMac is showing a transmit rate of only 78 on our wireless network while my Macbook seems to work fine in the same location with a rate of 130. Is there any way to increase the speed or is their something wrong with my airport, should be faster. When selecting the option key and clicking on the aiport symbol it shows the following data.

Channel 3
RSSI: -72
Transmit Rate: 78
Out router is a BT Home hub, while the modem attached to it is an Echolife HG-612.

Somehow this is not clear to me. I am looking to make the switch from PC to Apple and would like to start with a laptop. As i live in an old farmhouse (with thick 2-3 feet walls), I don't think one airport extreme base station will not cover then whole place. Therefore, I wonder if I can use the airport extreme base station and use the smaller airport extreme base stations as a jumping point to transmit the signal.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just picked up the 2TB and I have a few questions about it. I also just recently talked to a buddy of mine that has the 500 or 1TB version of the TC, but it seems that the setup/options are a little different. For example I would like to just use the TC as N only on the 5Ghz band, but it doesn't allow for me to do that. I can check a box for the 5Ghz but it doesn't specify to use the N band only. The "transmit rate" is different as well. Now, I can only select low, med or high instead of 6mb, 10mb etc. What is the transmit rate and what can I do to optimize the TC for optimal performance? I wish I could screen share with someone so I can figure this out.

I'm experiencing a really weird issue since upgrading to SL. I have a gmail account (working fine) and several POP accounts including YMAIL. This is what is happening, every few days or so. The POP accounts are refreshing the exiting mail in the inbox and marking them as unread (for no apparent reason) Not all but the vast majority of existing messages.

I have a formula which some dude created for me *years* ago that I used in Claris Works and it *seems* to work most of the time in Numbers. Anyway, the formula provides for either a debit or a credit and a balance. This is how it normally looks. However, for some weird reason the balance gets all screwed up whenever I enter cents into the equation. Check this out. I entered 5192 in the credit section and it changed the balance accordingly. However, when I add the 70 cents (.70) to the credit, the balance looks all messed up.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a bunch of email account profiles, folders, rules and signatures in Entourage on my iMac. I just bought a MacBook Pro and I would like to set up all these same settings and preferences in Entourage on it. It took me FOREVER to set all these preferences on my iMac and REALLY do not want to have to do it manually again on my new MacBook Pro. View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I have two iTunes "accounts" because I have an old AOL account - that Apple won't allow me to merge or combine. It is a complete pain - and so I need to find a way of getting some of my purchases from one account onto the other.
I assume the easiest way for songs is just to burn my purchased songs onto a CD then re- import them onto the regular account?
I had this working a while back... but (I can only think it's since I upgraded to iTunes 8) this has now stopped working...
1. I have moved my iTunes Music folder to /users/shared...
2. I go into iTunes preferences and change the location of the Music Library...
3. Restart iTunes...
4. Then I go into iTunes and it works - it's reading songs and movies from the shared location fine...
When I login as a different user (any admin user), repeat steps 2 and 3 and nothing - the library is empty when it's restarted
I also tried this hack from another site around 18 months ago...

The instructions are pretty much the same, although this involves creating aliases of the iTunes music library.xml file - but didn't seem to make any difference to the outcome
I've only really used Mail in a very basic way - for reading email from three email accounts, one work, two Gmail. I've never attempted to organize things in any way. However, I want to clean things up a bit now. I'm getting a lot of work emails - I'm a journalist - and I want to organise them based on which article they relate to. I presumed the easiest way to do this would be to create a folder (a 'Mailbox' I take it, Mailbox > New Mailbox) and drag the relevant emails to the corresponding folder. However, when I do this the emails no longer appear in my overall Inbox, so when I search the Inbox, they don't appear. I've had a quick look around the Preferences, but can't see a simply option for changing this. Am I going about this the right way organising using Mailboxes? Or is there a better way perhaps?
