I almost dropped my keyboard and in the process of catching it I must have turned on a function that repeats every character audibly. I have searched for this function in Preferences and cannot find a way to turn this annoying voice off.

Whenever anyone chats to me on facebook chat my browser (Firefox) comes up with the spinning ball forever and I have to force quit my browser.
Any ideas what I can do to stop this happening?
on my Intel MacMini. Won't turn on with the remote or the Esc+Cmd shortcut. The remote works (I've tried it on my wife's MacBook), I've restarted and repaired permissions. Any other ideas, anyone? Or do I just have to wait for Leopard for a clean start?

However, I keep accidentally pressing Apple-Esc at which point my computer freezes for a few seconds and then starts up in Front Row. It's a PAIN. Does anyone know how I can turn it off or change the shortcut to something more difficult to press accidentally?

I listen to iiTunes a lot while surfing the web. It's very annoying when I come across a website which has it's own music and it suddenly overlaps the music I'm playing on iTunes. Is there anyway to turn off the sound from all other applications while using iTunes?

It won't work on firefox or anything else. It was certified for I.E. - I forget the minimum version it is certified for but the old, old I.E. for mac is too old and won't work.

View 3 Replies View Related1 - I have a gmail account that I'm using MacMail for. I have 2 other email addresses that were already being forwarded to gmail. On gmail web browser, I had the setting such that if someone emailed to my Email #2, then when I reply, it would automatically go out from Email #2 (even if Email #1 is the gmail address). Is there a way to do this on the MacMail as well?? right now, all my outgoing messages are being sent from my gmail address
2 - When I am writing an email, it seems to save my email drafts along the way. So I have like 5 drafts (all from different stages) in addition to the final message that I send off. On MacMail, the incomplete drafts all get sent to trash. On gmail web browser, however, all 5 drafts show up as part of the email "thread"! The incomplete versions don't get sent to the recepient, right? Is there a way to turn this off?
Does anyone use grapher? I have never been able to figure out if there is in fact a way to turn on the axis labels x,y,z and possibly get some values on the axes as well. Anyone ever been able to do this?

I think iTunes mail is the worst. When you hover the mouse over a picture in a mail message, a box pops up with "[URL]". This blocks out the content below this window. Is there a way to turn this off.

I've seen how to uncheck "Restore windows when quitting and reopening apps" and I've uncheck that, but it doesn't work for this case. View 2 Replies View RelatedHad (used) iBook G4 several months now & thoroughly enjoy it, even tho' I live in the sticks where there's no hi-speed/wireless available; I connect to internet & power, which is fine.
This weekend I went to turn off my iBook & it wouldn't turn off. It's now permanently on, with opening info barely visible (like I need to click on F2 to brighten up, except nothing happens).
Currently using my "back up" computer, my iMac Grape, which is pretty much an antique by now.
I have a problem with my 17'' MBP unibody:
1) Bluetooth is ON:
I can't turn it off. The checkbox is inactive.
But I can turn it off, if I choose "Share my internet connection for other units". (I don't know, if this is the right text in english, because my OSX is in german)
2) Now Bluetooth is OFF:
But I can't turn it on, because the checkbox "ON" is inactive.
It turns only on, if I choose "New Unit"(?). Then there is a new window, that says, that this is only possible if Bluetooth turns on. If I say OK, bluetooth turns ON.

What's the problem. Why is this f* checkbox for turning bluetooth on and off inactive?
This is not a hardware problem, because I can have stable bluetooth connections.
I did a smc and am pram reset. But it doesn't help.
I have a lot of movies encoded with handbrake at the apple tv settings, and a few people have asked how to take one of those and re-convert it back into dvd files.
can this be done? I need to put a few backed up dvd's back onto dvd's cause i already got rid of them and i cannot watch the appletv handbrake version over at certain friends houses.
I tried doing the video files as data but they still show up with the .mp4 at the end and the dvd player will not recognize them.
is there a way to turn off audio sound effects/ notifications when you chat with somebody on Skype? As well as when people signin?
The only settings for audio is just for when signing in but there's no option to shut off any other sound effects.
Any suggestions?
