New to this forum business but I,ve got the first of a series of novels published, (not vanity) complete with ISBN numbers and on Amazon in paperback. Lots of good reviews but I need to offer it on the ipad platform. How do I do that? and whilst writing my website; St anthony,s Fire by Rod Sproson is a rubbish affair and I need to re-design (or more correctly let someone else do it) it for web optimisation. Any ideas?
Also, is it possible to share an iTunes library between my MBA and my PC so I can sync my iPad and iPhone without having to create a new library? The library file is currently on the NAS and just wanted to use the same one. Would it allow me to sync my iPhone with the PC and the iPad with the MBA using the same library on the NAS? I know this is more of an iTunes question, but figured I would post it here instead of starting another thread.
I'm new to the whole Apple scene, been using (and still am using) Windows up to this point but now that I've saved up some cash I want to make the switch. Running a 4-year old Windows desktop and 1-year old Windows netbook right now, sick and tired of this!
I'm a photographer, so I need a computer that can edit photos and video and not just to browse. I spend 5 days a week at my University and the weekends at home, so there is a little issue with the mobility. I have over 30GB of music by the way. Budget allowing, I can get the [ MC511ZP/A - iMac 27"/2.8 ghz Intel Core i5 /4 GB/1 TB HD/ATI Radeon HD 5750 with 1 TB ] as an iMac, or the [ MC373LL/A - MBP 15" 2.66 Ghz i7/4 GB/ 500 GB HD/ 512 MB GDDR3 Intel HD ] if I were to get a Macbook Pro.
Given the circumstances, would it be more reasonable for me to get the MBP+iPad so that I could have a powerful computer I could easily move between my two houses while at the same time having a super-mobile tablet to use in school and for non-heavy duty computing activities, the MBP+iPod Touch which would be the same concept as the iPad but then I'd have to use the MBP for e-mailing and web browsing and just stick to having mobile music, or the 27" iMac which gives me the most bang for the buck and a really pretty screen while having the iPad as my mobile computer although it would mean I would have to go 2-3 days a week with only my iPad as a computer excepting long vacations when I would just take my iMac back to our family house?
I have the Australin app called Ninenewsbreak and the app works well on my iphone4 BUT the sound won't work on my iPad.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled it 3 times and still no sound. This app is for the iPhone and iPad according to the advert in the app store. The sound works great on the iPad for other apps downloaded.Â
I searched like crazy for this and cannot figure it out. What I am trying to accomplish is replacing my iPad with a MBA. The one thing that has me hung up is the email. I use exchange for my work email and the way it functions on the iPad is perfect. Very simple set up and syncing. In OSX things seem more robust, but also much more difficult to get going. What I am curious is there a way to get the mail app to handle exchange webmail like the iPad does?
So I just rented an episode of Top Gear on my Macbook Pro.
Then I plugged in my iPad so I could transfer the file from the computer to the iPad - want to watch on a plane ride.
But I don't see any option anywhere to transfer?
I've done this previously with movies. I just clicked on the Movies tab for my iPad and moved it over. But I can't find any mention of Rentals anywhere in the iPad tabs.
Is it possible to sync my iPad on both Mac and Windows, and to share the same library for both devices. I constantly switch between my desktop pc and Macbook Pro and it would be handy to get the same apps/music/movies on both, and being able to either sync my iPad on the pc or Mac depending on which one I'm using that day. Is this possible? Or can I only sync my iPad to one iTunes installation?
Is there a way to specify where iTunes stores iPhone/iPad backups? I'm trying to exclude these from the home directory on my new SSD. It's 30+ GB of stuff I don't need to access on a regular basis, so it's better off kept on another disk.
I've been searching for a note taking app that does what I want, but I couldn't really find anything. Before you start to suggest Evernote, don't. I don't like it. What I need is a simple note taking app without all the fuzz, much like Mac OS X's built in notes (Mail) that syncs to my iPad and iPhone. I should be able to create multiple notes, and I need to attach pictures to the notes (or embed them). That's really all I am asking for. The only reason I am not using Mac OS X's own notes app is that the notes have a size limit. As soon as I attach 2-3 pictures, the notes are being truncated on the iPhone and iPad (e.g. I only see part of the note, the rest is missing).
I need to update iWork on my Mac cos iWork 08 docs don't work on my new iPad. But iWork 09 is about 18 months old now so surely will be updated soon. Would anyone who is learned in the product cycle of Mac apps care to hazard an educated guess on an update?
I would like to sync my ipad2 with my old mac as it has all my old song and photos on, but it does not recognize the ipad in itunes when plugged into the computer
Info: iMac (17-inch Early 2006), Mac OS X (10.4.11)
I was at the best buy today playing with the MBA never really wanted one until today. The design is sexy and I've been thinking of buying a laptop for some time now.Problem is I already have a 64GB iPad, which i love to death and I'm on all the time. Basically I just use it to watch movies, play games, internet searching.nothing major.Do I need a MBA? No...Do I WANT one? YES!! Just trying to find a reasonable explanation to buy one
I kind of like the new toy, but I honestly love my MBA. I hope Apple will continue to improve the Air, but I think the iPad will be a greater money maker for Apple so ... ?
I have an ITouch and like the icon look displayed. I understand that the MacBook does not have the touch screen but is there an app that offers a similar look on the desktop screen of my MacBook to my Itouch?
I am unable to eject my iPad from my Mac. I click on the eject icon in iTunes and it appears to be gone but the next time I open iTunes, it's there again. I am unable to to insert discs and cannot copy pictures to my iPhone which, I think, must be because my computer thinks it's still connected to my iPad. I've tried shutting computer down and starting up again and gone to disc utilities. Nothing I've tried so far has worked.
I have downloaded a movie in itunes on my mac along with an album. It let me sync the album with my ipad but said I needed to authorize my computer. My computer is authorized but my ipad isn't, how do I authorize my ipad?
