Is it possible to sync my iPad on both Mac and Windows, and to share the same library for both devices. I constantly switch between my desktop pc and Macbook Pro and it would be handy to get the same apps/music/movies on both, and being able to either sync my iPad on the pc or Mac depending on which one I'm using that day. Is this possible? Or can I only sync my iPad to one iTunes installation?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a dot ibooks file created in ibooks Author. I have used Export to put it in a folder on my Mac (Mavericks) and then used Add to Library to put the dot ibooks file into iBooks. It appears in iBooks on the Mac and I can open it and read it. It does not automatically synch with connected ipad. I have tried putting it into a "Collection" and making sure that "Synch Collections" is checked but it still does not automatically synch. What am I doing wrong? How can I get iBooks on Mac to synch with iBooks on iPad?

I am not being able to sync my iPad, after having been using it for more than a year now! I had been syncing my iPad2 with iTunes on my Windows Vista machine. After my Windows Vista Laptop crashed, I replaced it with a Macbook Air 128GB (MBA). Since hard disk space on the MBA is at a premium, I transferred my iTunes Media Library to a 64 GB USB drive.
Now I tried to sync my iPad with iTunes on my MBA. iTunes on MBA saw my iPad: sync started: backing up completed without any hitch: and then came the error message "The iPad 'Rishav's iPad' cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the selected items (additional 7.88 GB required)". I checked the available memory on my MBA, USB and iPad.
Details:
a. HDD of MBA: 86.6 GB out of 120.47 GB Free.
b. USB Drive where iTunes Media Library is located: 39.93 GB out of 64 GB Available.
c. iPad 2: 7.7 GB out of 58.1 GB Available.
Despite this availability of free memory, the sync is not going through. The memory utilization within my iPad, as seen graphically on iTunes on my MBA (when iPad is connected to MBA) is as follows:
a. Audio: 8.10 GB
b. Video: 7.30 GB
c. Photos: 7.50 GB
d. Apps: 14.00 GB
e. Books: 1.01 GB
f. Others: 2.60 GB
g. Free: 17.94 GB

I have over 10,000 songs in my iTunes library--about 7,000 are songs I ripped from CDs and about 3000 are songs purchased through the iTunes store. I am able to sync all the songs to my iPod Classic without any problem. However, only about 7,000 songs are synced to my iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2--a mix of all the songs purchased and some of the songs ripped. How can I get my complete library synced to the iPhone and iPad, both of which are 128 GB and have plenty of room for the songs.

i have a large network with three 3TB TimeCapsules and a load of other stuff. On one of the drives is my main iTunes library which is now over 530GB in size.Â
Backing this up alone takes over a day to complete and I am restricted by the way that the iPhone and iPad operates in that I cannot make multiple libraries and have them sync successfully. Â
There is also the issue of the sheer value of the library which makes me concerned for its safety. Â
Is there a way to split this library up into say music, TV and Movies that would still allow me to sync my iPad and iPhone to the relevent bits that I want or am I stuck with this ever-growing monster!?

I recently installed MacDrive on my Windows Vista X64 partition so that I could access my iTunes Library on my Mac partition. After installing iTunes on my Windows partition and pressing shift while it opened, iTunes asked me for an iTunes library file ending with the extension ".itl". Now, I do not have any files ending with this extension in my iTunes folder on my Mac partition. Is there anything I can do to make iTunes on Windows to read my music library on my Mac partition?

I need to share my iTunes library (or a music library set up in some other way) with up to 9 clients on a local network. Does anyone know of client/server software that will let me do that? I'm pretty techy, and can work at the terminal level, etc., so it doesn't have to be an off-the-shelf solution.

Right now, we don't have internet access, and may not have it any time soon (I know, I know, it's the dark ages, but I'm having to deal with bureaucracy and privacy issues). So, something like SimplifyMedia probably won't work - it seems to be dependent on internet access.
We add music fairly often, and the person who adds music is not techy, so adding tunes/updating what the clients see is either automatic, or at least easy. And, changes need to be seen by the clients immediately, or at least quickly.
I can potentially set up a file share, though this isn't ideal. Has anyone shared an iTunes library this way?
I would like to be able to share my iPhoto library with my wife (another user) on the same machine. The only way I have been able to find to do this is to write some unix programming language in the OS. I don�t really want to do this. Is there an easier way to share my library with another user? View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two Macs, MacBook Pro and Mac Mini.I have all my music on MacBook Pro. I want to be able to access iTunes from Mac Mini. But I don't like Home Sharing, because it doesn't really sync my music, and that route keeps two separate libraries.
When I'm home, both Macs are connected to the same network. I want my Mac Mini to access MacBook Pro's iTunes Library, update new music from Mac Mini which gets reflected on MacBook Pro. So that if I consolidate the file from Mac Mini, it gets put into the hard drive of MacBook Pro.
I understand what I'm trying to do, doesn't actually put physical files on Mac Mini. If MacBook Pro is not in the network or is turned off, that I wouldn't be able to access MacBook Pro's iTunes Library.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an iPad that is synced to my home computer (iMac). I am currently in my second home and wish to move some files back and forth between my second iMac and iPad. I do NOT wish to sync them as this erases all the work I have done on files at my first home. The app I am mostly concerned with is called Songbook. My second iMac does not allow file sharing and I'm guessing because it needs to sync first. Not gonna happen. So am I out of luck or is there some way to move files back and forth? I really would like to do this as the edit function on the iMac is much better than using the Songbook app and keyboard.

Ok so I have a macbook, and I have a desktop that I basically use as a server as well. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a way I could set up my PC and Mac to sync files? I mostly just want to sync up my Music and Photos just so I can have them up to date and backed up incase one of my computers happens to kick the bucket on me.
I don't have mobile me and I do not play on purchasing it quite yet. Also my PC is running Vista Ultimate 64-bit, and my MacBook is running Mac OSX Leopard. The PC is connected to my router via ethernet cable, and my Macbook is wireless and uses Wireless N.

my IPad is a first gen, 64G and my IPod touch is a 3rd gen, also 64G.
when I try to sync my IPad it keeps saying "The iPad cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional 14.39 GB required)."
There is still 20 gigs of free space left on the IPad and 247 gigs left on my hardrive so, I don't know why it's saying that and when I plug in my IPod touch it says it cannot sync because an unknown error occurred (13019)
recently I had to get my computer wiped and this is the first time trying to sync my devices since then. I had to re-download everything. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.
Also can IPads be bugged? mine constanly crashes and sometimes it randomly opens a different app usually when I'm in safari. It also constanly freezes lot's of times in ITunes or watching movies the screen turns black.Â
oh and I have a Mac from 2007, with leapord, I'm pretty sure my ITunes account is up to date.
