I downloaded the Skype application but it saved as a volume on my MacBook. I can't delete it - all I can do is eject but would like to get rid of Skype all together.

I drug it to the trash, but I then searched for it in finder to make sure it was gone and an alias comes up and says alias can not open because original cannot be found. How to get rid of this alias??? If I hit delete alias it just keeps coming back up to hit again and again??
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was on a SkypeIn call and everything was working perfectly. Half way through my call, another SkypeIn call came through that I rejected. The second I pressed the reject button, the headset volume decreased by half. When the call finished I played around with the volume settings (from the headset itself, from the keyboard and from within system preferences) to no avail. I removed the headset and plugged it back in. No change. I restarted - no change I shutdown - let things sit for a few minutes and then started up again - no change Here is where it starts to get a little weird. When I play iTunes or some such similar application the volume plays at a normal level but as soon as I use Skype or some other random applications (voice mainly I think) the volume is very low again.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a hard time with skype conversation and rosetta stone speech recognition. Since I started using Rosetta Stone 3.4.5, People i'm talking with on skype complains that they don't hear me well, everything was fine untill I installed this software. The microphone doesn't emit as much volume as it should be and I believe rosetta stone is responsible for the differences in output volume.
I tested the microphone in garage band and I don't hear my voice normaly unless I start shouting out loud.
Or maybe the built-in microphone is too old and it's not working as good as it was before ?

Via "undelete" on MacKeeper, have reviewed files saved on hard drive & would like to delete them. Have scanned via "undelete" on MacKeeper. Want to clean up hard drive. Have not found directions on how to do that.

In the Windows version of Skype there is an option to disable Skype's auto-adjusting of the microphone volume.
But in the Mac OS X version it seems it takes over and will adjust your microphone volume, without even asking, and there is no option to turn this off.
...Or is there? My audio volume keeps lowering itself while in a game, and the only way to put it back is to go into System Preferences and raise it up. However I watch the volume slider go back down by itself because of Skype.
When I try to delete duplicate names and addresses from my Skype contact list I get the message that this has to be done by deleting these names from my Mac contact list. How is this done?

On the right hand side of my desktop when I download a program it seems to put an icon or doc on the right hand side. Like right now I have a skype dmg file I can't delete as it says Skype is in use, then right above that is a seperate skype icon that even if I drag to dock it still stays on the right hand side (like a copy), then I downloaded open office again and it put the install icon there (like when you open and you drag your program to teh applications folder)

I like it, and also love that the F7-9 Skip Back-Pause/Play-Skip Forward keys work for iTunes, even when another app is active (what's the word I'm looking for - in focus or whatever). But I use Optical output, so the volume keys (F10-12) don't do anything. I know that, when iTunes is the active app, I can command-+/- to change the volume, but I'd love to be able to map the F10-12 keys to do that - without having to have iTunes active (playing, but not the active window).

Skype is the app that keeps crashing the most, Safari and Firefox crash from time to time as well... and Mail.app crashes sometimes when Skype and Safari crash...
I already perform a fresh installation of the OS and no luck. I also kept on doing "repair disk permissions" with Disk Utility but also no luck...
The last time I performed a Tech Deluxe check and all test passed...
I think the problem can be either disk issues or faulty memory... in the worst of the worst motherboard .
I have reached this website after scrawling to find a solution on the internet. I hope someone can help me with this problem.I have a 4 years old G4 ibook (OS 10.3.7), and have been using it for internet, skype and foto-storage mainly.Situtation:Yesterday I tried to use the internet (Firefox browser) and skype, but the skype didn't work at all. Since firefox was not working properly either, I did force quit and restarted the computer. I attempted this several times until I could use both applications (never had any problems before). However, Skype didn't work, and in the end, I could not quit firefox at all. At last I did force quit again, and saw white screen with apple icon at the centre when restarting. No time-spinning mark, the apple just sits there.
Troubleshooting that I have done:
I called up support center, and they told me that it's very likey that the computer is stopping at "'carnel" stage (I'm sorry but I don't know what this is). The possibility that it's got something to do with HD is 50/50, so I may have to send it to repairing service in the worst case. They told me to try using Disc Install CD1 to check/repair something wrong in my computer. So I followed the instructions and inserted the install CD and restart the computer with "c" key. The computer read the CD and Installer window showed up. As instructed in a manual, I used First Aid in Disc Utility, and tried "repairing disc". After a while it said "1 HFS has been repaired". It also said that Macintosh HD doesn't seem to have a problem", so I quit the disc utility and restarted the computer.
Against my expectation, the same white screen with apple came up on the screen and sits there with no other movements.I'm afraid of trying somethinig without further so I hope I can get the same story or ideas that someone here might have.
My dad was saving a bunch of Word docs on his Mac - he had one large file that he split up into twenty-some smaller files, which he then saved onto both his desktop and on a flash drive. Somehow along the way (neither he nor I had any clue how) but 4 of those files saved as an alias that point to nowhere. In other words, I can't find the originals anywhere on his computer or flash drives.
Even stranger is that one of those files aliased to the Applications folder. Keep in mind these are all supposed to be word documents. They all still end with .doc, but their type is an alias. I have no clue how they were created as an alias, but they were. It's probably a longshot without knowing where the original is located, but do any of you guys know how to possibly retrieve this?
alrightyyy so basically my unibody 2008 macbook crashed a short while back, needed to re-install OSX, files were saved, applications were not. I had been using iLife '09 off a copy that my mother got with with her 2009 polycarbonate macbook. After the crash I upgraded to 10.6 and attempted to install iLife '09 again. It told me thus: 'Alert: this software cannot be installed on this computer'. And that's it. I can't access any of my pictures in iPhoto or upload any(3 wedding albums :3), and I can't access any of my old Garage Band files, simply because they were created on '09 and since the reboot I'm stuck with '08. Major bummer. Bottom Line: is there any way to get iLife '09 on my computer without wasting $100 just to access files?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have an AOL email account as well as an email for my business through my website. The email for my business is working with no problems, but the AOL email is not showing the emails i am sending in the sent folder. It is also not saving an email as a draft if I choose to do so, it says "the email could not be saved". I also have both these email accounts linked to my phone and use the email app on my phone to send and receive emails for both accounts during the day.
I am using my laptop during the evening with the mac mail app and that is where I am having the problem. My phone will show the sent messages that I send on my phone, but none of them that I have sent from my laptop either. Anyone know why the emails I send do not show in the sent folder in the mail app on my laptop? Why it is telling me it cannot save an email as a draft? Everything was working fine a couple weeks ago, but since then I have not been able to view my sent messages or save emails as drafts.
iJust deleted a couple object in IDCS2 and hit command-S instead of command-Z. These objects had lots of attributes applied to them and this will take me forever to get this thing back to the way it originally was. Is this possible to recover?

But when I want to look for those emails in Ｕser/Library/Caches/Metadata/Microsoft.... or wherever all I get is a bunch of numbered emails like "1.vRge08Message" and up to whatever number of emails I got in Entourage.
Why doesn't it display emails by the sender's name like it did when I searched for them in Finder?
I have a new macbook pro 15 inch and I downloaded the newest version of skype and I can't get the video to work every time I get "video in use by another application." My ichat and photobooth both work too. I've tried everything even deleting the camcamx5.component file but I don't have it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install Skype (for mac latest version) on an ibook G4 (running 10.3.9). Should be compatible. It downloads okay. It drags to the applications folder okay. It won't launch, however. If you try and launch it nothing happens. The menu bar doesn't change. Other applications download okay and run okay - but not Skype. I've tried deleting it completely and then downloading it again about 4 times and same problem each time. I tried dragging a shortcut to the dock, too, but it won't launch from that either.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI installed Skype on my new macbook (13" 2.0 Gz) a few months ago. However, I've had a problem and I just don't know how to fix it! You know when you download an application, it comes onto your desktop and you're supposed to drag the Icon into the Applications file? Well, my Skype won't do that. It will drag into it, but then it says it already exists. Thus, I still have that ugly icon on my desktop instead of the regular one. I've tried to eject and reinstall, but nothing works.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some reason when I save a Microsoft 2008 Word file to my desktop, as soon as I am done saving it, stuffit opens and a folder with the same name as the .docx file is created that contains the .docx info. So everytime I save one file I end up with 1 word doc and one corresponding folder. Any feedback on how to stop this or hide the folders or put the folders in their default directory?
