I have a hugh collection of all my DVD backed up on my mac in divx avi formant and I was looking for some kinda software that organise these films, maybe get covers and info. I have found Delicious Monster but it does not work with divx backs.

EDIT: I tried this... please tell me if this was the correct thing to do. I basically just went to Finder > Music > iTunes and dragged that whole "iTunes" folder to my external harddrive that was plugged in... and its copying it now
I wanted to know how do i back up my mp3's from itunes library, I currently have 12.83 GB worth of songs. Do I use a external hd or is a flash drive good enough? Just in case when the world ends in 2012 and all the computers fail ill still have my music with me

This along with Time Machine will give me a good piece of mind. Can someone tell me which folder would be the one that houses the pictures for backup purposes, and I do use iPhoto.

I go to the backup library and the latest backup is from 12/07 - so I am missing over a years worth of stuff. View 5 Replies View RelatedBasically somehow my iTunes got jacked up.. just the music part of it.. Anyway, they are all songs from my CDs or mp3's, but just as a failsafe, I would like to backup my entire iTunes library to my external hdd.
I would then like to delete all the songs from my iTunes, and from my iPhone. *edit* figure'd out how to remove all the songs from my iphone.. just unchecked all songs and sync'd.. now I just need to backup itunes and delete everything from it, then reput what I want back into itunes and resync.. sweet
After which, I would like to rebuild my iTunes library using my mp3's and CD's and basically start from scratch.. so that this time around I can properly name songs/albums/artwork/etc
Then I want to take this new iTunes library, and fill my iPhone back up with my new Library in Itunes..
so basically I just want to backup my itunes just incase for some reason I cannot find a particular CD or mp3 in my collection.
Just for the record, I am using a Mac Mini running Snow Leopard 10.6.2, and I have an iPhone 3GS 32GB running the latest 3.1.2 firmware (jailbroken using blackra1n rc3)
My friend told me the above happened to her. She has all old pictures, but nothing from this month. This occurred after she got a message asking if she wanted to update the library -- this message came from out of the blue and she answered yes. I am trying to restore the library from a backup, but every time it tries to restore it says there is no permission to access the iphoto library. When I click on get info I see that she has read and write permission, but still she gets the message. Can I change the permissions on a time machine file? She is using Iphoto 9 and Snow Leopard.

So I'm looking for a solution to backup my large iPhoto library - I've searched on this forum and on Google and didn't really come up with a solution.. Anyone have any ideas? I'm aware the inital backup will take forever, but it'll be much quicker afterwards..

Most of my hard drive is taken up with music files. I want to know how I can move my library to my external drive (maybe just doing time machine will do this?) but keep some file on my computer so I can play them without the external drive. What's the best route? I know that consolidating my library to another drive will do half of what I want, but what about keeping some songs on my computer- like 50 GB worth (but I will also want these songs on the external drive so that they are backed up!)

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I recently "downgraded" from an octocore Mac Pro to a AluMacBook 2.4. All sadness aside, I'm loving the form factor, the portability and the light up keyboard. I have a series of questions related to my overflowing media library (as my Mac Pro was acting as my media server).
1. I've become attached to the idea of installing two disks into my MacBook by removing the optical drive. I've done the appropriate amount of research to determine feasibility (it IS indeed possible). But I wonder, could I RAID these disks together in a striped array (0?). I tried launching the RAID Utility on my MacBook and it says "it is not supported with this computer". I plan on maintaining a Time Capsule backup of the RAID as often as possible to minimize data loss should something happen.
2. The reason I'm looking to RAID is because my iTunes library is currently just a bit bigger than any 500GB disk I could fit into my MacBook. So as a "just in case" question, does anyone know if I can spread my iTunes library across multiple places? Say, for example, I want iTunes to manage all my "audio" files on my internal disk and all my "TV shows and movies" on an external or the other internal... is that possible?
I am manually moving files from a Time Machine backup. How do I view the user's home Library files that are in the backup? I need to move over some of their preferences and bookmarks.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSomehow, when installing RealPlayer I managed to get something called RealNetwork (a Folder full of files) installed in my User Library. It was 395.62 GB so must have been some sort of malware. I was able to find it and delete it from my hard drive. BUT I had backed up my hard drive to a non-bootable backup the day before so that file is still in the invisible Library folder on that drive, taking up almost 400 GB there, too.
How to delete it from the backup drive since I can't boot that drive?

After I had a full backup to iomega external hard drive I wanted to see photos in iPhoto library by using Time Machine. I can see the iPhoto Library icon on Time Machine, but when I click on an icon it does not open the folder and I can't see the pictures stored on iomega external hard drive. All other backed up documents I can see and restore if I need it.

My entire iPhoto Library is gone, inaccessible, doesn't show up in finder. I tried to restore my last Time Machine back up but it says that I don't have enough space on my startup disk. In order to create space I deleted everything nonessential and moved all of my essential folders such as documents, photos, videos, everything, etc. to my external drive, then deleted them from my hard drive. I emptied the trash to make sure that everything was wiped.
I tried to do the Time Machine back up of my iPhoto Library again and is still says I don't have enough space. I looked at my storage under About this Mac, and it says that 120.35 GB of my current computer storage are photos, however, I don't have ANY photos on my hard drive at all. I don't know what to do because I can't delete applications and there is literally nothing else I can delete from my computer, so I don't understand how 135 GBs of storage is being used up.
Could there be somewhere my photos are hiding? I just don't understand why my library got deleted in the first place for that matter.

i am having a minor problem with TM
i use 1 external tb to back up everything
i back up about 725 gb if stuff and when i go to run my TM it tells me i only have 150 or so GB of space to back up the aforementioned 725gb.
Maybe i misunderstood TM, but cant i back up multiple days without using the same size of backup? i.e. i back up january 1st, december 1st and november 1st and it wont need 2.175 TB of space?
i recently clean installed snow leopard after backing up my data via time capsule even after using the migrarion assistant my iphoto library is gone doesn't time capsule backup the iphoto library?
