time machine does not backup iphoto library anymore, iphoto library is in previous backups, but since a couple of days it is no longer in the folder picture of my backups.I checked in the exclude and it is not excluded?

After I had a full backup to iomega external hard drive I wanted to see photos in iPhoto library by using Time Machine. I can see the iPhoto Library icon on Time Machine, but when I click on an icon it does not open the folder and I can't see the pictures stored on iomega external hard drive. All other backed up documents I can see and restore if I need it.

My entire iPhoto Library is gone, inaccessible, doesn't show up in finder. I tried to restore my last Time Machine back up but it says that I don't have enough space on my startup disk. In order to create space I deleted everything nonessential and moved all of my essential folders such as documents, photos, videos, everything, etc. to my external drive, then deleted them from my hard drive. I emptied the trash to make sure that everything was wiped.
I tried to do the Time Machine back up of my iPhoto Library again and is still says I don't have enough space. I looked at my storage under About this Mac, and it says that 120.35 GB of my current computer storage are photos, however, I don't have ANY photos on my hard drive at all. I don't know what to do because I can't delete applications and there is literally nothing else I can delete from my computer, so I don't understand how 135 GBs of storage is being used up. Â
Could there be somewhere my photos are hiding? I just don't understand why my library got deleted in the first place for that matter.

I use a white Macbook running 10.5.8. Alright, so this morning, I tried to restore my iPhoto library using Time Machine to about 2 months ago, since I had deleted some pics. Long story short, it didn't seem to work, so I restored the backup from this morning at 11 am, the latest backup, since I had just uploaded some new photos today. Now my iPhoto library is empty. There are just outlines where my pics used to be, and it seems to remember events and all, but there are no pics or videos at all. Everything is gone. I'm just lost and feeling a bit nauseaus that I may have lost 40 some gigs of photos.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed a new HDD. I reinstalled OS X by first installing my original Tiger and then the Leopard upgrade. Don't ask why I did not just go straight to Leopard because I don't know I then used the Migration Assistant to bring in the TM backup. I went to open iPhoto and I am getting: wtf? I think that I am going to reinstall OSX. I have the original HDD; is there a way to transfer everything from that directly? Maybe I will try doing an "Erase and ReInstall" option right from the Leopard disc and then choose the TM option.

After reading a thread I found out how to view my backed up photos in iphoto through time machine. The problem is. We reformatted our IMac, and although I can find the other photos that were saved on there. I cannot find any of the photos that were once in Iphoto, as iphoto is now empty. Do you know where those photos may be or have I lost them all?

Most of my hard drive is taken up with music files. I want to know how I can move my library to my external drive (maybe just doing time machine will do this?) but keep some file on my computer so I can play them without the external drive. What's the best route? I know that consolidating my library to another drive will do half of what I want, but what about keeping some songs on my computer- like 50 GB worth (but I will also want these songs on the external drive so that they are backed up!)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI did something with my iphoto and when I went to look at my pics they were all gone except the black screen had white outlines of every pic but I couldn't see the pictures. It wanted to build my thumbnail and for whatever reason I didn't choose yes. I think I should have. So, I thought time machine would pull all those photos back. I restored from earlier in the day when it was fine. I had about 4000 photos and after restore I ended up with over 40000 photos. It had put all the clipart and all kinds of photos in there from programs.
Also it duplicated every picture I had at least 3 times. I did go in a delete all the clipart pics. Now I have about 35000 pics. The photos now are not all large size when I click on them. A lot of them are really small when I try to open them. I can't even think about going through all of those pics individually. I thought the Time Machine would restore back to what it was previously with my 4000 or so pics. I'm running iphoto 6 so I can't see the pics when I go into the Finder.

Basically it gave me the same Node require deep traversal on just the iPhoto Library....so I'm guessing it had something to do with the upgrade.

I am trying to retrieve an iPhoto file from a week ago.Â
One week ago I attempted to upgrade to Lion, then realized that was not what I wanted to do and rebooted from my clone to restore to Snow Leopard.Â
When I opened iPhoto however, I realized that the iPhoto library was way further back than I had remembered.Â
I used my Time Machine backup to get my old iPhoto library back (not to try to merge, just to retreive the file) and I get the error message: "This operation can't be completed because you don't have permission to access "iPhoto Library."Â
I already repaired permissions on the volume. What gives?
Time Machine on my iMac won't open iPhoto. It goes to desktop screen automatically. When I select User/Picture/Iphoto library it only brings up the preview page with the size of the folder. I can't get into the library to look for lost photos.

I saved my iphoto library to an external hard drive because my memory on my macbook was almost full. That hard drive became corrupt and now I can't get anything off it. I just updated my iTunes but it appears it deleted my library. This sucks because I have spent HOURS upon HOURS sorting it, renaming crooked song titles, finding covers and all that stuff. I used time machine to back up my computer like 5 days ago, but I can't figure out how to use it. I wish I could just select that given day (when I made my last backup) and make it turn everything back to what it was back then.How do I do this exactly? I turned it back on and within a minute it turned itself off. I have a lot of memory available on my standalone hard drive so what the heck is up with this shutting itself off?

I just did a clean install of Lion on my 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo iMac. Before I did that, I made sure that everything was backed up on an external drive through Time Machine. Now I want to restore everything and when I enter Time Machine, all that is visible for back ups are those that were done after the clean install of Lion.Â
when I open the files on the external back up drive through Finder, I can still see all of the back ups that were completed, including the most recent that I want to use to restore my iMac. I am considering another clean install to start the process again.Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently ran the latest update 10.7.4 (11E53) for my iMac OSX Lion and using Safari browser 5.1.7 and since then I am experiencing intermittent problems with my Time Machine not backing up. The light on the front is on and it looks like it is working however it remains static and will not strobe as previously. The Time Machine is a WD MB Studio 1034. When I select the time machine symbol I get a message to say that the Time Machine is not set up and I cannot get to my backed up files. My last back up was done on 11th June 2012. Since then the back up drive has not automatically backed up.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have looked into this a lot already. It is to much that Time Machine backs up every single hour! It would be nice to set it to something like 3 or 5 hours. I have tried a 3rd party app to do this, but... If my computer was off or asleep when it was supposed to back up, it would get an error. It would not just do the backup when i turned it on or when it came out of sleep like stock Time Machine does. I have also seen a way to change the time incraments in the Terminal.(I am very good with it, not a noob) I have tried this and it screws up time machine completely. Maybe it does not work with the newest OS X. By the way... I have a 2010 MacBook Pro, got it 2 months ago.
Does anyone know a solid 3rd party app, that will work seamlessly. Or has anyone changed the time in Terminal and are currently using something different than 1 hour. There is a lot of examples online, but I would like the codeing that you literally used.
Since the recent update to the time machine software it has been taking about twice as long to complete each hourly backup.

I need to deploy multi iMac for my company with exact same setup.I am able to do this with the Time Machine without problem.But I would like to know is there a way to backup the "Time Machine" USB HDD I have created, just incase my USB HDD is corrupted or I need to distribut the Time Machines to other office for deployment? Can I create a dmg file with my existing Time Machine USB HDD. so that I can make multi copy of USB HDD with the same dmg by restoring the dmg?

Late last night I accidentally ejected Time Machine from the Devices section of the Finder window. I've now spent half a day trying to get the computer to recognise my external hard drive again as attempting to use Time Machine results in the message "Storage Machine for Time Machine backup can't be found." I can find my WD desktop 1TB drive with Disk Utility but not in Finder. If I click on the WD Ext HDD 1021 Media in Disk Utility there is the option to Verify in the top menu, but nothing happens when I click on it. All the options verify, and repair are greyed out. I've checked the computer hard drive and done the verify and repair disk and permissions process.
I've turned off the computer, disconnected the external hard drive, turned off time machine, then turned everything back on but still can't get the external hard drive to be recognized. This is extremely frustrating and I have run out of ideas. I know it all started when I clicked on the eject button for the external hard drive in the devices section of the finder. Such a simple mistake, but I have searched everywhere online and can't find a resolution that I can actually try. I can't verify and repair the WD hard drive if these options aren't available in Disk Utility.
