Applications :: Combining Video With Many Text Files
Dec 17, 2009
First, what I want:
* Connect a 30 minute video with one large or 3-4 small text files
* Connect many of these video-text connections into a whole
* Search through and sort all these files
What I'm actually doing is compiling a ~30-minute video of a chef with several recipe text files into a "show," and then all the shows would be compiled into a "series," and I should be able to search the series for a particular show or recipe within a show and sort (sort of narrow down, like searching in iTunes Library) recipes by keywords like ingredients or cook time.
I'm starting here just in case there's already an application that accomplishes this, as I have absolutely no idea how to translate this paragraph into a search term. I'm totally cool with using some program that could just somehow connect text and videos and search/sort through the text files, but I still don't know what one would be.
Also, I'm generally a novice programmer, but I'm very experienced with some web programming, so I know exactly how I could make a website for this; however, the whole point of this is to be able to access it offline and possibly transfer it between machines. With my limited knowledge and even more limited coding creativity, is there a way to make a sort of offline website for this?

I am trying to make a backup copy of a DVD I own so that I can watch the movie in iTunes or on my iPhone when I'm on the go. The movie is on a two-part DVD; how can I combine the resulting rip so that I have one movie file in iTunes (rather than a "Part A" and "Part B" file)?

I recently ripped my Monty Python and the Holy Grail DVD to my computer so i can back it up, and in the VIDEO_TS folder there are 5 different parts. The problem is, English is the default track for only 2 of them. The other ones are in different languages, and for me to put it into english i have to change the trach from track 1 to 2 in VLC.
How do i combine all of them, keeping it as english?

So I found the lost project in FCPX. It has a music tract, text and video. When I pulled the project down for editing, I am able to separate the music from the video, but the text bubbles do not appear above the video allowing me to change the misspelled words that need editing.I've searched all of my backup drives for the original footage in case I have to re-edit the whole thing, but I'm unable to find the original footage. Every event in my libraries appears as a finished project.
Info:
Final Cut Pro X, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8)

I have one iTunes library on my MBP and another on an iMac that are different. I want to combine them into one (on the iMac) but when I try the songs/videos moved over can't be found by the iMac (have the exclamation mark next to the title). I really don't want to backup to disc to move them over by restoring because the library I am moving is 70+ GB (that's a lot of discs) so I have copied the folder onto a separate harddrive. How do I combine these libraries? Please give me step by step instructions that a middle aged Mom who has not slept through the night in 14 years can understand.

I've got some PDFs I'm trying to compile into one single PDF file. I'm using an automator script which is working well, except for the fact that the resultant PDF's page sizes are all over the place some are huge whereas others are pretty tiny...
Is there something I'm missing here? Is there a way to combine PDFs and not have the pages sizes turn out weird? The PDFs are from different sources (some have been scanned at various resolutions, some are word documents that were printed to PDF from within OS X) so that could be the reason, but I'm just looking for a solution atm.

I have searched everywhere and can not get a good answer. I just bought myself a new imac and this is my first mac. I used to use convertxtodvd on my pc.
I read that toast titanium does a good job of converting any video file to dvd but you can not download it to try it out, you just have to buy it. I do not want to waste my money if it does not turn out to be the quality I am looking for.
Any suggestions of any programs that does this task and performs well?

Once in a while, a flv (flash) video I have download from the internet from sites like YouTube (using CosmoPod) will not play video when opened in QuickTime. The space for the video is there in the QuickTime window, but it is all black. Audio plays fine. This only happens for some flv files and I can open them all just fine with VLC and Adobe Media Player. Any idea why this is and/or how I can fix it?

I can't work out how to combine files in Pages, so please advise! If I go to Insert->Choose it looks like I can add other files, but not pages files. I have about 10 pages documents that need to be merged into one single document. I know I could copy and paste but I am concerned about a number of formatting issues. Some documents have fairly complicated section breaks or are fairly image-heavy, for example. One document seems to choke everything up when I copy from it (the one with lots of images etc - it's around 10MB large).

What FREE Mac Application should I use to convert .MP4 video files to .SWF video files? I doesn't matter to me if they are good quality in the end because all of the videos are going to be on my MP3 player's screen.

Just wondering if you can play MP4 video files on OSX without having to install or buy anything. I've had such a pain with my windows machine in trying to find codecs to play these files.
Just wondering if the Mac is also easier on this end too. I can't wait till Leopard because I'm jumping off this windows ship asap.

I went out and purchased FCE in hopes of a better editing experience then iMovie '09. I love the way FCE is set up with the timeline and everything else.
All of my material comes from my iPhone 3GS video camera and whenever I press "space" in the timeline to preview the clip it just says unrendered.
I've done some research and found that it is something to do with the project settings. I have tried to figure it out on my own but I cant seem to find which preset I need to use in the easy setup menu.

I tunes imported vid files that I had on my hd last year, now, I decided that I didn't want these in ITunes, so I deleted them from ITunes. I then burned all of these files to a DVD and then deleted them from my downloads folder where they were always kept. Today I noticed that deep within ITunes, there is a folder called ITunes music and in that folder there is a sub folder called movies, where I discovered duplicates of the vid files I had previously deleted from my downloads folder which were imported by ITunes last year. I didn't know this could happen in ITunes!

For some reason my mac always resets my 'open with' preferences if I restart my computer.
So for instance, even if I go through the usual route of selecting a program as the default player (select file/get info/open with/change all), as soon as I restart my mac it will always revert back to the default players and not the newly selected one.
Is there a work around? A setting in OSX which im missing? Or perhaps a third party app which can handle this?

Does anyone know how to extract audio from video files? I can't seem to do it from within the Handbrake GUI - is there a command line way of doing it? Otherwise, what's a program that can do it? Obviously I could use Audio Hijack, but I'd rather not have the quality loss that comes with re-encoding.
