App Store :: IPhoto Won't Update - The Product Distribution File Could Not Be Verified
Apr 19, 2012
've been trying to update iPhoto for over a month now and every time I try I get an error message saying "The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or unsigned.) I tried to uninstall it tonight and then reinstall but now when I go to the App Store to try to download it, it tells me the same error message except now I can't even redownload the file or anything.

i purchased omnigraffle for my mac pro several months ago. i just recently purchased a macbook pro and would like to have access to that app.
when i recently copied omnigraffle from the mac pro to my laptop, i get the dialogue to use licensed, unlicensed, or purchase.
then, went to the app store/purchases and the store wouldn't verify my license. i deleted the app as a possible solution to install through the app store. now, i'm getting the response: 'the product distribution file could not be verified'

I bought a refurbished MacBook from Micro Centers, with the Leopard operating system on it. I upgraded the memory from 2G to 4Gig. I bought Snow Leopard and upgraded the operating system. Then I bought Lion from The App Store and downloaded it. Everything seems to be working fine except when I try to download Apps from the App Store, I get a warning saying "We could not complete your purchase. The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed." I am new to Apple products.

I recently purchased a Macbook Air 11" (July 2011 model) which came preinstalled with Lion (can't remember the version) and iLife 11.
On my first boot I noticed that the Mac App Store popped up a few updates and one of the updates was iPhoto 9.2.3. When I attempted to install the update, I was prompted to first update my Mac OS as the update was not applicable to my (then) Mac OS version.
I promptly updated my Lion version to 10.7.3 through Software Updates and attempted the iPhoto update again - nada! Mac App Store now says: "This update is not available", "You Must have previously purchased this item ..." and then prompts me to 'buy' the item (iPhoto 11?).
I haven't clicked on the 'buy' button in the fear of being charged to my linked Apple ID account and I am wondering why I am supposed to buy iPhoto when my MBA came preinstalled with iLife 11.

I notice a lot of people are having this problem when it comes pre installed.
I can't update from the appstore and I can't update from the program itself. When I use software update it will say all software is up to date.
I checked the versions of the software that I have installed and they are not the new, current versions so yes i do need to update
App store says I need to update Garage Band and Iphoto but I need to use the other account that was used to purchase the software.
I have only ever had one account. This is not cool I have had this computer for 4 months now and this problem has been on going for 3.5 months
I have a new macbook pro and osx lion was pre installed along with garageband iphoto and iMovie

iPhoto 9.2.3 update. I can not get this update badge to go away. I have never purchased iPhoto through the App store so I don't know why it even shows up. I knew I had updated iPhoto already but wanted to see what it said when I clicked on the update and I got the following error:
iPhoto is already installed on this computer.
Choose Software Update from the Apple menu to check for available updates.
Of course, I had updated my iPhoto when it came out for my desktop a while ago and can't get this annoying badge to disappear.

My Question:iPhoto 9.2.3 update. I can not get this update badge to go away. I have never purchased iPhoto through the App store so I don't know why it even shows up. I knew I had updated iPhoto already but wanted to see what it said when I clicked on the update and I got the following error: "iPhoto is already installed on this computer.Choose Software Update from the Apple menu to check for available updates." Of course, I had updated my iPhoto when it came out for my desktop a while ago and can't get this annoying badge to disappear. Try deleting the cache and .plist files associated with the App Store. Go to [URL] Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.appstore folder to the Trash. Now go to [URL] Move the com.apple.appstore.plist file to the Trash. Restart your Mac. So now what do I do since they have totally left me? I still have this dumb badge showing. I purchased my iPhoto through iLife and the update will not go away. [URL]

I'm running a MacPro 10.6.8.
When I did the normal software update, it installed the Java update and one other, but had an issue with iTunes 10.6.3.
It says 'The update iTunes cannot be installed - the update cannot be verified' down at the bottom I see - iTunes partially downloaded 22%
I've rebooted and re-run software update several times, exact same issue, it won't try to download it. How do I clear out the partially downloade file and fix this?

I have a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.7.3 Lion. Since I have gotten it, I've used Software Update without experiencing any problems - until now. Now, whenever I try to download/install updates, I get an error message saying "The update could not be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs." What is going on, and how can I fix this?

I am attempting to update to the lastest version of iTunes and receive the following error message:"The update could not be verified. It may have been corrupted during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs."Every subsequent time that Software Update runs it restarts the download from where it was interrupted, and gives the same error prior to completion. It seems obvious to me that the partial file I have on the computer is where the corruption lies, and I would like to delete it and start the update from the beginning. The question is, where is the partial file stored, and what is it called?

I bought a 2011 mac mini second hand and would like to update product registration and link lion to my apple id - is this possible? When I first switched on the mac mini I was presented with standard setup screen to choose language, then progressed through setup, including entering my apple id. I thought this would have linked my apple id to lion which is pre-installed, but when I signed into mac app store neither lion or iLife suite show up under purchases. My main concern is that I was planning to upgrade hard drive and I won't be able to install lion to it.

My Apple Id are working perfectly at iTunes store. When I try to log in at App Store it says: "Your device or computer could not be verified." I know there is an old Apple Id that's perhaps interferes with both my iPhone and App Store. I have tried to delete my old Apple ID to see if that would help, but it wont accept that I delete it.

My Softward Update and App Store repeatedly "crash unexpectedly" (along with Dashboard, Finder and a whole host of other applications).
I have tried everything but it seems there is no way I can use either of them.
As a result, I haven't been able to update anything for months and my OSX is now thoroughly screwed up.
Is there any way I can update OSX without using Softward Update or App Store? Is there an update file I can download without having to go through them?
I'd prefer not to resort to OSX Restore as I don't want have my Microsoft Office product key.
