Recently Aperture has a problem reading all the photos on my 4GB Sandisk memory cards (2 cards, same problem).
When importing pictures from Aperture (RAW) - it only reads about 10 pictures, displays the thumbnail and then stops reading from the card (when there is still hundreds more pictures to be imported).
What I have to do is import with iPhoto and then drag them into Aperture. This is a pain though. I happens on both my memory cards and is a recent thing. It used to work.
iPhoto reads the memory cards in the camera very quickly, but Aperture consistently fails on more than one memory card which leads me to exclude the cards as the point of failure.

This happens again and again, and it's EXTREMELY irritating.
I am trying to import some existing JPEGs on my Desktop. When I try Import in Aperture, the file browser simply does not see most files and folders. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. It seems to happen on a whim. This is very bad, I have just about had it with Aperture. And yes, permissions are set correctly.
On what basis Aperture sees or does not see certain files/folders?
My hard drive is full, mostly with photos within Aperture. I have created separate libraries for each year. How do I move one or more of these libraries to an external drive to free up memory on the iMac. I am using Aperture 3

How do I import music from a flash drive that was formatted with a windows PC to my MacBook - the drive is showing it has over 3GB of info on it but none of the files are showing up in finder? I had backed up my iTunes library on the flash drive about a year and a half ago before I switched from a dell to a MacBook pro.

I recently switched over to a Mac from a PC which I've had for years. Since I never had a photo storage program on my PC, all my photos were kept in folders on my hard drive. When I got my Mac, all my photos were imported into iPhoto and now I simply use iPhoto for everything I upload. My question is, can I delete the old photos (now imported into iPhoto but still on my hard drive in seperate folders) from my hard drive to save space without deleting them from iPhoto? I checked my settings and I do have the "copy to iPhoto library" option checked but I don't know if that makes a difference. Any information would be helpful - it would be nice if I knew I could delete photos that are essentially duplicates to save space on my hard drive.

Is there a way I can access my entire aperture library without opening the actual program? If so, how can I do this.

I'm having trouble copying photos from iPhoto onto a flash drive to share. What am I doing wrong? I selected photos in iPhoto and exported them as jpegs into a desktop folder. However, I can't drag that folder onto the external flash drive.

I am using the 30 day Demo version of Aperture3 (awaiting the arrival of my ordered copy). Apple claims it to be "fully functional for 30 days, and I believe them, so I don't think (but can't rule out) that this is the source of my issue. I have imported my iPhoto Library (approx 20GB), not by reference, but actually copied the photos into the Aperture Library (as evidenced by the fact that it's physical size is approx 32GB). After that I did about a days work setting up faces and places for my many projects before I discovered the following: When I look at the metadata (General Category) for any photo, it shows my project source as being in my iPhoto library; not as I expected in the aperture library. I was hoping 1) to be able to trash the iPhoto library after the import & 2) not lose the day's work I put into places and faces. One more note, iPhoto (as expected) does not see these changes. Any ideas how to change the reference to the aperture library, is it possible that after applying a new serial number(when my paid copy of aperture arrives) that this will rectify itself? One more note; in the preferences (general tab) the library is correctly referenced as the Aperture3 library.

Is there an easy way to import all my images that are in my Aperture library into iPhoto 09? I want the originals, not the previews as I believe is what you get if you use the Show Aperture library dialogue...
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Aperture, I've always used Iphoto. I've recently imported a large library of photo's from Iphoto into Aperture. I selected to store the photo's in their current location. Is there any way that Aperture can automatically update the library once I add it to Iphoto or my computer? I'm always adding photo's to my computer. As it is now I have to manually import the selected photo's into an event and then drag it from the event to my library. Is there an easier way then this? is there some option that I'm missing?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to import 403 pics from my iPhone 4s/iOS 7.1.2 into Aperture 3.5.1 on iMac running OSX 10.9.4.
All of the pics are showing up in Aperture and have been removed from the iPhone, but the pics are not going into the new project folder I created to hold these. The library lists the folder, but the Projects Viewer shows it nowhere.
There is a spinning gear at the bottom of my Aperture screen labeled "Importing..." and the clock indicates nearly completed import. Aperture seems hung up and has been importing for more than a day now.

I'm migrating from iPhoto '09 to Aperture 3 and noticed it doesn't import learned faces! I have over 130 learned faces in iPhoto and DO NOT want to have to manually re teach Aperture who everyone is. Why didn't they set it up to migrate the faces library as well?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAs always I wanted to add a new project with incrementally new RAW files from my SD memory card. I have the photo management system the image master files (RAWS) are stored in Pictures folder on the HDD. The import dialogue enables to select a destination folder to Pictures as usual, but it doesn't show Move or Copy files option anymore. Without this, it just imports images as referenced images to the ones placed on the memory card, which I subsequently can't format, because, I'd lost all the photos. Move or Copy files option shows up when I pick other import source than memory card, eg. my HDD. I tried everything, can't figure this out. I find Aperture unreliable now and will move to Adobe Lightroom, if won't find a solution.

After running the latest release of updates today (ilife, raw camera, etc.) Aperture 2.2.1 (whatever the latest release) no longer sees all of my photos - about half of my projects are missing from the Aperture program itself, however they are still in the library as I can get to them in finder.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Aperure (version 3.2.2.) can't display certain pictures from the Library. I can see from these "pictures" only their information, rating, adjustments, but not the photo itself. Their is a message saying that the picture was edited with a previous version of Aperture RAW version. BUT the older photos are okay in my Library.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to transfer my fotos and videos from Aperture on my old mac, to a new mac. I have tried to create a vault on an external drive, and then open it from Aperture on my new mac, but nothing happens when I open the vault - a new library is available, but no fotos/videos.
Then I have tried to export some on my projects as a new library, and this works. I can open the fotos, but a lot of fotos/videos now have a small yellow triangle in the right corner. The videos that have this triangle will not play in Aperture, whereas the videos without this triangle are ok.
I was importing some photos into Aperture when my battery unexpectedly died (that's a separate issue). I started the computer (a black MacBook) up again and opened Aperture only to have it be momentarily unresponsive followed endlessly by the rainbow spinning ball. Force quitting and restarting gives more of the same.
Any ideas on how I can make Aperture usable again? It's quite important to me.
For what it's worth, I'm running Aperture 2.1.4
Practically all my photos are in my Aperture libraries, but I can't browse these when choosing a desktop picture in the System Preferences. I remember it was possible to browse through the iPhoto events, but I don't see this option with Aperture. So is there really no way to use the photos from Aperture as a desktop picture without exporting the photos to an ordinary folder?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI dragged several of my favourite photos out of Aperture and onto my desktop. To get rid of the clutter I want to delete the desktop photos without deleting the copy I have of them in Aperture. If I drag the desktop photos into the trash, will I still have these photos in Aperture? Wondering if when I dragged the photo onto the desktop it was just a copy of what's held in Aperture or did it actually transfer them out of Aperture?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWith all the excitement around the $79 price of Aperture on the new mac app store, I'm thinking about getting it, but wondering if I can then ditch iPhoto? I looked at Apple's website about Aperture and see that it seems to be iPhoto+ with all the features of iPhoto plus more. But I'm wondering about the integration of it with iOS devices, etc. If I move everything to Aperture, will I still be able to use photos in my mac's screensaver, or on my Apple TV, or sync to my iPhone....all of these seem to tie to iPhoto, but if you install Aperture, do they then work with it?
View 24 Replies View RelatedSo I finally upgraded from iPhoto to Aperture and have imported all my photos to the Aperture library. My question is how do i delete my iPhoto library only? I have about 7 gigs worth of pictures that now take up 14 gigs on my hard drive because they are in both my iPhoto and Aperture libraries.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo for some reason, under the photos tab in iTunes, when I try to sync one of my projects from Aperture 3, it shows only 8 out of 233 photos in the actual aperture project beside the project name.
What is going on?
I am using the latest iTunes 9, and the newest version of Aperture 3
Installed iTunes 9.2 and now get an error message at end of synch saying the iPhone can't synch because the file can't be found. The issue is limited to photos checked to synch from my Aperture 3.03 library. Those photos have been removed from the iPhone leaving only the photos taken on the iPhone and stored in the 'film roll'. All photos synched from Aperture were removed and won't reload. The Photo tab shows the Aperture app is checked and should synch.
I have repaired permissions and rebooted the iMac. Same issue continues after all this.
Since the latest update, iTunes now only syncs the master images from my aperture library. this seems to be specific to photos edited after updating to Mac OSX 10.7.4. Have tried unsyncing and resyncing. Happens on both my iPhone 4s and iPad 2.
