I have been using iPhoto for years. I can't seem to find a way to burn photos to my optical drive. I need them full resolution for printing purposes.

I just purchased a Mac Mini and am using a DVI to HDMI cable to connect it to my 42" Sony KDF-E42A10. I am unable to achieve full-screen resolution and downloaded SwitchResX to manually adjust the display. Does anyone know the timing parameters for the Sony or how to achieve full-screen resoltuion?

With the new update of Aperture there is now a black bar at the bottom of the photo when editing in viewer mode with the file name. I really want to get rid of it since it changes the cropping of the photo and I can't see behind it to edit.

I own an Apple 27" Core i7 iMac. I just bought a Dell 3008WFP (30" LCD Display) [URL]. It has full size display port, hdmi, vga and dvi. As you know though it's a 30" so it needs "dual-link" DVI from whatever is driving pixels to it. So the iMac, to my knowledge only has Mini Display Port, right? How do I get the iMac to push the 30" at full resolution?
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy aperture library shows thumbnails of all my photos like normal, but if I try to view a Split View or Viewer view of the image, after a period of time where Aperture says it is "Loading.." in which the image still looks ok, the image snaps and then appears corrupted. It looks like the viewport is looking at random patches of video memory, showing bits and pieces of various graphics from around the system.
This only started happening very recently, but I haven't been using Aperture daily, so I can't say if it was after a recent OS X update or Aperture update.
I'm assuming my masters are just fine, so it's only an annoying bug, but it makes Aperture completely unusable for the time being, other than browsing thumbnails.
My hard drive is full,mostly with photos within Aperture. I have created separate libraries for each year. How do I move one or more of these libraries to an external drive to free up memory on the iMac. I am using Aperture 3

I like to use Faces versus Names because I seem to be able to crank through it much quicker.
My flow:
1) I click a project name that has not already had faces assigned
2) I click the faces icon. Then I see the "main" part of the screen with the Faces instructions, and the section under that has the faces that need to be named. So I start naming them. There are 100s in this project.
3) Then I come across a face I only "kind of" recognize. I don't know if they are in the background in a crowd, of the focus of the photo. I need to understand the images composition so I can skip them or figure out their name. I would like to quickly just get a peek at the whole photo.
4) So I switch to the Viewer and it takes me to the first photo in that project. That's no good.
5) When I switch back to Face I also have to scroll to get back to that face.
Is there a better way to quickly see the whole photo without breaking up my workflow?
I have a BlackBook with a Intel GMA950, can I get full res 1920 x 1080 using a VGA cable on this type of monitor?

I want to make a desktop setup on a budget and I'm wondering if my MBP will fill up this display at the complete resolution (1920 x 1080) and if it will function completely with the peripherals on the monitor. I don't do graphic design and as I said, I'm on a budget, so the Apple displays are out of the question.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to do this with VLC. I'm use the streaming wizard and the help files say to input the start and stop times in seconds. Why wouldn't I use the counter on the video? When I tried to pick a start and stop in seconds it didn't seem to have any bearing on the real time counter on the video I had just played. It did save the video, albeit in a lower quality of .mpg.
1: How do I retain full video and audio quality? (I don't care about file size, only quality.)
2: How do I save everything, for example, from minute 10 to minute 11? You'd think that would be 600 to 660 in seconds but it didn't look like that when I played it. Also the counter started at 11 hours.
I am trying to send a 2 MB jpg file. My recipient consistently gets a thumbnail, JPEG file. This has never happened to me before. What must I do to send a full resolution jpg photo?

I have tried changing the name to ISO and burning which works BUT when i insert the disk into my mac, the install file has changed from and application to a package which will not open or but from restart!
I have a new macbook with the latest OS, I'm burning my itunes music folder to a disc. I notice that the folder burned to the disc is slightly larger (in bytes) than the original folder in itunes. It's still the same 4.18GB size, but if you notice the bytes on the burned dvd compared to that on the original itunes folder, the dvd bytes are higher. I even tried burning a second one, after restarting the computer, and the bytes match the original dvd I burned. Why the discrepancy between the original folder size in bytes on my computer and then one I burned onto a disc?

I've downloaded a Linux Distro known as a Live DVD in ISO format. I want to burn this to a DVD for future use but would like to change what is in the ISO before burning. There are several files that I would like included so I won't have to have a second CD/DVD later.
DiskImageMounter does a great job of opening the ISO but it is readonly. If I copy the files to a directory, make my changes and then burn the DVD, the disk isn't bootable. And I am at a loss about how to continue. Can I burn individual files to a DVD and specify that the DVD will be bootable? Is there a software tool that will take the individual files and folders, and make a new ISO file that would be bootable?
I guess you can see where I am going. When I google for it, I find results for creating a backup of the Leopard install DVD.
I have a bunch of media files (videos) that I want to store onto a CD-RW so I'm not wasting any unnecessary HD space on my Mac. However, when I attempted to do so it created a seemingly permanent file directly on my desktop with those videos that I cannot delete without compromising my ability to ever view those files again. In so doing, I seem to be unintentionally duplicating media files and decreasing the space on my HD as a result. How might I save video files to a simple CD without having to have a copy on my system to be able to view them? The file in question has the "burn" icon on its cover. You see, just to test myself, I tried to delete it in my trash can, and it wouldn't allow me ti view those videos and movies without first re-instating that duplicate file. The filre originated as a CD until the burning phase was completed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently burned a couple of .avi and .mpg video files to a dual-layer DVD+R as a data disc (DVD-ROM) using the program "Burn" which is, in essence, a nicer front-end to Mac OS X's burning capabilities.
However, after burning, the video files on the disc are now unplayable. It seems like they are corrupt.
Am I doing something wrong? Do dual-layer discs need special settings to make it work as data discs?

I've hooked up my 30" Apple Cinema Display to the new iMac 27" and the highest resolution I'm getting as an option is 1280x800... The iMac correctly detects the ACD as a Cinema HD display but limits my resolution. Why oh why?!
I've been using mac for several years but have never had to burn movies to a disc before. I know that on a PC it is quite simple to burn multiple downloaded movies onto the one disk but I cannot work out how to do it on a mac, as the disk space fills up. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have thumbnails but when double clicked the picture is black. I have rebuilt Aperture every way possible. This happened, and has happened in the past since upgrading to mavericks. I have had nothing but problems since doing so. I get a message that the application memory is full and I have to force quit Aperture. I used exactly the same editing in Mountain Lion and never once had this problem.

I have a lot of movies encoded with handbrake at the apple tv settings, and a few people have asked how to take one of those and re-convert it back into dvd files.
can this be done? I need to put a few backed up dvd's back onto dvd's cause i already got rid of them and i cannot watch the appletv handbrake version over at certain friends houses.
I tried doing the video files as data but they still show up with the .mp4 at the end and the dvd player will not recognize them.
Are there any cause currently iTunes is slow burning audio cd's takes up all my CPU making it slow and I don't have another apps running.
