Is there a way that I can listen to my iTunes music at the same time that I am playing games through Safari? I don't need to hear the game volume but it is equally as loud as my iTunes music which is distracting.

How do I find out the version of my Macbook's mini displayport? It's not listed in System Profiler in any place I can find. Also, does it matter what version OS I'm using? I'm still at 10.6.8.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAnd so the Flashback saga continues. About a couple of days before the Java patch hit I encountered the now dreaded Software Update login screen. I did not enter my password, hit cancel, popped back up and hit cancel again. So here is the issue, at the time this happened I had iAntivirus installed which is one of the application this malware looks for when installing orginially according to F-Secure. (apparently it doesn't work on Lion which might be the issue). Since I hit cancel it would have still tried to continue with the second variation but I also have Office 2011 (also one of the applications this looks for before self deleting according to F-Secure).
I panicked when popular news broke about this and following the terminal commands provided by F-secure discovered that for all 3 commands, there was nothing that existed and became relieved and updated Java with the new update...until I proceeded to download ClamXav (app store free version) as a future precautionary measure. This is when I ran a scan and discover 2 OSX Flashback-8 infections. One .null and one .rserv. Both of which I promptly removed, which sent them to the trash. When I attempted emptying the trash neither could be permanently deleted bc both were "in use".
How do I still have the trojan, virus, malware or whatever you want to call it if terminal found nothing but ClamXav did? Is this just a variation that hasn't really been encountered before?
I should also note that in my Library I have both null. plist and com. adobe. reader. plist that had been recently modified in the last couple of weeks (these were mentioned in several articles as potential launcher files.
Any thoughts or should I just completely restore my Macbook Pro?

Every once in a while my Mac Mini will start to chirp/squeak. It almost sounds like crickets. It started doing it again about 5-10 minutes ago and just stopped as I began typing this post. Does that sound like it could be the fan making the noise or the hard drive? I would think that if it were the drive I would here it MUCH more often.

On my keyboard when I push mute or volume up or down, the computer shows the mute/vol up/vol down icon on the screen when I push it and it makes the volume sound, but it does not actually mute the tv or make the volume go up or down. Only the actual TV controls will make it work.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having a major brain fart this morning. I can't find the equalizer in iTunes 9.2 on Mac OS 10.6.4.
The only way of using the equalizer is to select songs and than type command+i. Then under the 'options' tab you can select an equalizer preset.
Didn't there used to be an equalizer that played the entire music library using one preset? And couldn't you specify your own values for the different frequency bands?
I go to view and i don't see no show equalizer option. I would like to know where i can find the equalizer since i would like to change the settings.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI opened the iTunes equalizer and it wasn't showing on the desktop. I tried using Expose (show all windows) and I see the equalizer "open". But when I exit Expose I see my Equalizer flies up and behind (or possibly over) the toolbar on top. I tried everything I could, but to no prevail. There was no way that I could possibly click behind the toolbar, I tried to bring all the windows up front and that didn't work. Tried clicking on the equalizer from Expose and it flies up again. Is there any other way to bring the little window back?

So I just got a new Mac Mini that I want to use as a HTPC. I got everything all set up. I can get the sound to come out of my tv, but it will not come out of my sound bar. Basically I have the Mini hooked up via HDMI to HDMI 1 on my LG tv. From here I have an optical cable running out of the LG TV to my LG Sound Bar. Now I have a blu ray player and an xbox hooked up via HDMI 2 and 3. Both have sound coming out of the sound bar.

The sound is *really* low. If I change my source to my Xbox 360 the sound is really high on my t.v at volume level 20-30 (never have to go above 40 usually) - This is on a Samsung 40 inch t.v
Now when I'm on my Mac Mini I have to put my volume output all the way full and then go all the way to like 90 on my t.v and it still isn't that loud... it's loud but almost sounds like it's being too loud without too much oomph (feel no bass or anything yet on the 360 I definitely feel bass of off my t.v)
Is this just the sound card quality off of the mini? Not that great? What do I do to improve this?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had my mini since 2009. This issue has happened intermittantly since I got it but has happened several times in the last while. The sound output goes to zero. On it's own. I go into system preferences to sound and slide the bar back to my desired level and all is ducky until it happens again. I suppose I should have spoken to Apple about this when Applecare was still in play but it did not happen much. Silly me. Any ideas about the cause? I am guessing this is mobo related and a cure will be costly. If I go that route. I run a line out of the headphone jack that splits to my amp and a set of headphones.

I would like to know if this would work:
I will be using two displays and Plex for both Movies and Music. For Movies I would like to use the HDMI port as my second display (I hope both video and audio would go through this port at the same time.) Then on the default display I want to use to control the music and would hope that I can send the audio out the USB port to a USB out board DAC. Is this doable?
So today i was upgrading my new mini and everything goes great (or so it seems) it boots up just fine and then i try and play a song..nothing, no sound at all the volume changer is gone and everything. I take it back apart to take a look to see if i just missed something and i see this little wire dangling from where the HD is but i don't know where it goes or if it has anything to do with my problem. So if anybody has any ideas about this let me know.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI just installed a new webcamera to my mini mac and i restarted the computer. when i restarted i went to adjust my volume using the keys on my keyboard but when i did, the icon popped up but there was a circle with a line through it. i tried fixing it with system preferences but it wont let me change anything. I even tried unplugging the webcamera to see if that was the problem but its not.

I use to hear only a fan that's only if I put my ear right next to the fan in other words it was silent, but for some reason when I updated to 10.7.4 I can hear this clicking sound that is coming from the Mac I did not have this ploblem in previous version (10.7.3 &10.7.2) this started happening exactly when it finished updating.
Oh and the Mac Mini is new I only use it for basic task (email & surfing the web) and I updated the exact same day when 10.7.4 was released.
