My MacBook Pro is in Chinese as the default language. And I've changed it into English. Then everything has changed except the log in window. The buttons are still in Chinese. And how can I change this window into English?

I've installed an Italian version of Leopard, and updated with Snow Leopard in Italian too.
Now, I've changed the system language in English, but the Logon Screen is always in Italian Language... how may I translate it in English?
Can I change the Mail's language without changing OS X language?

Well I bought my macbook in Taiwan. All my applications are in English but the only problem is that my login window is in Chinese. Is there any way i can change it to English.

I've got this peculiar problem with my MacBook Pro Intel Core i5 running 10.6.8 with all the updates. Whenever I open the computer after logging out, the login window hangs. The insert bar in the username field doesn't blink and I get the spinning beach ball. Sometimes there's no cursor at all. If I close the lid without logging out there's never a problem. But of course that's not an aceptable solution.
I can not reproduce the problem with a fresh account, so I assume there's something wrong with my account. I've had this problem ever since I setup my original account. I've gone through the system.log and I do see some errors during the time the computer goes to sleep after I logout, but I don't know if they are serious or normal warnings.

I'd like to set the screensaver to the loginwindow. But I'm not sure. Is it save? Or are there some risks? And how can I disable the screensaver at the loginwindow? (I haven't got workgroupmanager.)Â

How do I change the my login page (password box) to be in the English language?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't know about you, but Snow Leopard's aurora is so much cooler. I used a program called "Desktop 2 Login" to change the default wallpaper for the login screen to a different wallpaper. Using this same program I changed it back to L's Aurora. (Still in 10.5). When I upgraded to snow leopard, the login wallpaper did not change. It is still stuck on L's aurora. I have used about every method besides Terminal, and it won't change.

I'm thinking the language change has messed up the keyboards!I really need to log on my computer as soon as possible.By the way, I changed the language to Vietnamese VNI.

We have a user with a large number of folders of saved mail stored locally (on my mac). I haven't counted the number of folders in the list in Mail, but the last 6, alphabetically, do not display in the list of folders. I can, by going into ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes (I think it's in Mailboxes) see the missing folders and even open the messages in them, the folders simply don't display in the Mail app (v4.5).Â
Does anyone know if there is (there appears to be) some limit to the number of folders Mail can display? If so, is there some workaround to get it to display them so the user can access his mail through Mail app? why these particular folders are not showing up.Â
It seems like it must be a limit issue since it's not chronological (i.e., they aren't the most recent folders created) but alphabetical (they would, if displayed, be the last 6 folders in the list).

Yesterday evening I found that Address Book was empty - no contacts displayed and Mail did not recognize the group name when I entered it in the To field.Â
Actions I've tried but did not resolve the issue:Restoring Address Book from a Time Machine backup that was previous to when the problem occurred.Deleting the Address Book app~/Library Address Book Plug-Ins~/Library/Application Support/Addressbook and~/Library/Application Support/Yahoo! Sync
And then restoring these same items from a Time Machine backup that was previous to when the problem occurred.Deleting the Address Book App and then reinstalling from my Snow Leopard Install DVD.Â
When I restored AB from Time Machine all my entries showed in Time Machine (even the backups made *after* the problem began) all vCards are there and seemingly are restored. But, when I make any effort to use a card or change to a different card, AB quits and it's back to an apparently empty address book.Â

When I first installed Snow Leopard, I selected Italy as region but with english language. As a result, under Language & Text in System Preferences, my region in the Formats was set to "Italy (English)", that is the italian format but with months and days names in english.I accidentally changed that setting and selected "Italy (Italian)" and now I see months and days names in italian but with system language set to english.I tried to restore the original setting, but there is no "Italy (English)" option under regions.I also tried to change in italian the system language and then change it back to english, but the days names are still in italian. Aside from defining a Custom format, is there a way to restore the "Italy (English)" original setting?

I currently live abroad (Japan) and am really excited for 10.6 but just want to make sure buying the Snow Leopard disc here will still give me the English lang. version.I assume that Snow Leopard is the exact same disc all over the world, just with the default language set to the country it's being sold in?

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I first got my macbook 2 months ago I could command+space and open the spotlight dialog box and type say "i" and it would start displaying ical, iweb, you know everything that starts with I. Like it should. Somewhere down the line things got funky. Now I command +space, open the box, type the letter of the application i want or whatever and nothing is displayed in the finder window. However when I move my cursor to the actual magnifying glass in the corner after I typed the search, and click it, it will show the results. Or if I type what I want to find and then command space again it will show it. So what did I do wrong? I want it back the way it way) Just having to command + space twice, once to open the search box and then one more time after i enter the search string, is getting annoying. Or having to click on the magnifying glass after entering the search.
View 1 Replies View RelatedUnder Language & Text there are 4 tabs:

Input Sources
I have added a language under the first tab, Language, only to find that there is no correspondingly supported input option under the fourth tab, Input Sources.
I would now like to remove the entry I added under the first tab, Langauge, but cannot figure out how to do this. I have tried highlighting and pressing delete, dragging it out of the window, etc., but so far nothing works.
I am using MBP Pro with OSx 10.7.3. I use admin account. Recently I enabled root account and then disabled it back again. Since then I am seeing applications only for root and not for admin even with admin login. If I go to /Users/<admin username>/Library/Preferences, I can see that the applications has relevant files over there. When I looked more carefully I observed that, I am able to see the applications installed for the root only and not for the admin user. Is there any way to corrrect this?

I've managed somehow to change the displayed bitrate of songs I've purchased off the iTS, simply by removing the contact details with a hex editor, and it's really bugging me that there doesn't seem to be any way to change it back!
Normally, iTS purchases appear as 256kbps, which is the standard I use (I don't have VBR checked for iTunes plus, as it appears '256kbps (VBR)' whilst songs purchased from iTunes do not, and I like 100% consistency in appearance) - however, now I am getting the true bitrate on songs I've purchased and altered, such as 264kbps, or 281kbps, anywhere from 256kbps to 290kbps.
How can I change the appearance of these files so iTunes displays them as 256kbps again? I've tried AtomicParsley, but it doesn't seem to have a bitrate option, and I definitely do not want to burn them to CD and rip them back!
I know this will sound like an incredibly anal request, but as I said, I like 100% consistency!
Why is it that for some of my songs, iTunes displays, right below the application title, "iTunes," the name of the song, and below that, the name of the artist. In some other cases, it displays the name of the song, and below that, the name of the ALBUM. All fields in song info are filled out correctly.
Secondly, how do I change my password on here?
