OS X Mountain Lion :: IMessage On Macbook Pro Not Working
Jun 27, 2014
All of a sudden my macbook pro's iMessage stopped working! Every time I'd send a message, a red circle with an exclamation point pops up on the side of the message. Somedays it'll be on and off where i could send iMessages but only receive one on my mac. I already reinstalled os x and deleted everything, but iMessage wouldn't work on my mac. Same goes for FaceTime! When I accept a FaceTime call, the whole window goes to the side and disappear.
I Am getting increasingly frustrated that iMessage is working on my iPhone but not on iPad or MacBook Pro. I have tried settings system preferences, taking jabber off etc but still no joy.
If I send an iMessage to my daughter in Boston, it works fine. She is also an iMessage user.
Sending the same message with a photograph: iMessage will say it has been "delivered" - but then 30 seconds or so later it changes to indicate that transmission failed. Retry never works.
I couldn't log into my iMessage account in the Messages application on Mac OS 10.8.5 on my Macbook Pro. At first it would try to log in, then I get a window saying that I couldn't log in and to contact support, . And this was the "validation code" - 2759-9329-5430
I called support, they said that there was probably just a glitch and it'd be fixed in an hour... it's been about 4 days. Still can't log in. After I received that first message that took me to this page, then is just started saying "can't log in." .I'm back to getting that "validation code" page link again... Who spilled a beer on the iCloud server again?
Well, after my keyboard backlight going out, and me looking for multiple solutions, I've found multiple solutions on the internet that include deleting the com.apple.iokit.AmbientLightSensor.plist file from the Library file. My issue is, I'm actually missing this file from my Macbook pro, which leads me to believe that this is the main reason that my backlight isn't working. Is there anywhere I can find this file, or any reason why I'm missing this?
Just to add in, I have a corrupt Hard Drive, and plan on fixing it soon. Could that have anything to do with it?

All of the microsoft programs (Skype, word, excel, update utility, even error reporting, all) I regularly run on my macbook pro have stopped working. If I try to open an application or document the icon bounces on the dock, the graphic flashes on the screen (just like normal), then the crash report comes up. The crash report stays for a moment then the crash report for the crash report (Microsoft Error Reporting has quit unexpectedly) pops up.
I feel like this started after the latest software update from a few days ago but I can't be entirely certain of that. I don't know how to revert previous to the update to check if that is the problem.
I have restarted the computer. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the programs. I have updated the programs, as well as OS X.

I just bought a macbook pro retina display OS X 10.9.4 and entered the data of my applestore account on the imessage app but each time I try to send a message gives me the following sign "+54 9 11 ....... is not registered with iMessage." although it is a registered number (my own iphone).

why hitting spacebar no longer previews fonts/typefaces. It worked as of last Friday (today being Monday). I have restarted many times, repaired permissions, used FontNuke to clear caches, and have also cleared/relaunched Quicklook caches with the
-qlmanage -r -qlmanage -r cache -commands in Terminal.

My messages and FaceTime calls will not work on my macbook air. I am using OS X Mavericks 10.9.4. why these will not go to my computer anymore? They used to work just fine and appear in my notifications on both my macbook and iPhone and now only go to my iPhone.
Suddenly my FaceTime and iMessage stopped working on my MBP. when i try to log into iMessage from the mac, it asks me to call customer support with a code number.
My iMessage on my Macbook Air is not working. It is saying that no numbers are registered with iMessage, when i know they are because i am texting them off iMessage with my iPhone. Also, i am not receiving any of my text messages from my iPhone to my iMessage on my macbook.
I recently purchased a Macbook Pro 15" for college. I set everything up and it was working perfect until a few days ago. When I try to send a message on my macbook the person's name I am sending it to is blue for a second but quickly changes to red but I know they are using iMessage because I am iMessaging them off of my iPhone. Also, when I try to facetime someone from my macbook it works perfectly and I can receive facetimes too.
Some of the fixes I tried:
Logging out of iMessage on iPhone and then logging back in
Deleting preference files (This is a huge confusion for me, I simply don't have the files. Ex: com.apple.imservice.iMessage
I've tried editing the preferences on my macbook and iphone . I recently switched from my 5c to a 4s because water damage completely ruined my 5c.
I just had to install a new hard drive to my mid 2010 imac. I restored with time machine. I cannot find the original OS disc. Upon restoring it appears there is a problem with the webkit framework as Safari, App store, and Skype all freeze upon clicking on them and after bouncing, they never open. Chrome is working. What do I do?

I haven't been able to send or receive iMessages on my Macbook Pro or my iPad. They do not receive any incoming messages or have the ability to send out any messages. Every time I try to send a message to a phone number REGISTERED WITH IMESSAGE, this error message pops up. Even though iMessage refuses to work on both my iPad and my Macbook, it has been working flawlessly on my iPhone. Every number that I try (and fail) to send an iMessage to on both my iPad and my Macbook, I have been successfully able to send a message to on my iPhone with no problem.
This is what gets me: I have signed in to my Mac and my iPad with several other Apple IDs and iMessage works FINE when there is another Apple ID involved. There is no problem when someone else signs in using their Apple ID. So far, the only thing that has been affected is iMessage. All other aspects of iCloud work great. FaceTime hasn't stopped working once, for example.
I have had two separate cases with Apple Support about this issue. I have brought all my machines to the apple store TWICE, and they still couldn't figure out what was wrong.

I've tried it all! I've read through all the tricks and deleted the folders. I just updated my software to 10.9.3! I get the "this number is not registered with iMessage" for all of my contacts

A few days ago my macbook pro stopped getting iMessages. Interestingly I still get SMS from all of my non-apple friends. I have checked to make sure everything looks right, logged into iCloud account, etc. Double checked on my iPhone as well. My iPad and iPhone still communicate with each other and receive all messages. Running most current OS on all three devices.
I consider myself as having a decent knowledge of Mac products and their workings, but this has got me completely stuck. I have two mac machines (MBP and MacMini), an iPhone and an iPad. iMessage was working fine on all devices up to a couple of weeks ago. On the MacMini, all of a sudden iMessage stopped receiving and sending messages, and displaying the recipient's name in red, instead of the usual blue (clicking on the name, it says the user isn't registered with iMessage, and it says that for all users). It still works fine on all of the other three devices.
I have tried everything that I've found on the forums - resetting the iCloud password, the keychain, the pram, deleting various files from the user library folder. Logging out on other devices, even a clean installation of 10.9.3 (which is also on the other, working machine). There is no firewall, and another exact same model MacMini that my colleague uses over the same connection works absolutely fine!
It seems that the problem is almost tied in directly to my specific machine - is this possible? as I've already spent far too long trying to fix this.
I am getting the message "Your Apple ID "xxxx" can't be used to set up iMessage at this time. It was working fine and all of sudden it became inactive . It is working on my Ipad.
My computer's hard drive crashed, but after I had it replaced it it now seems to be working weird. My IMessage is working, but it is not syncing my contacts with the numbers. I do not understand what is wrong with it.
My Browsers are not able to access the Internet after returning from sleep. This effects other browsers (Firefox & Chrome) as well. The connectivity from mail and iMessage is working fine. I am also hardwired and not using WiFi.
just recieved my refurbished macbook air (2011) 2 weeks ago.Does it qualify for free upgrade to mountain lion ? The website only talked about "qualifying new mac system set..."
I downloaded the iMessage in MAC beta but can not activated my apple ID account. I tried many times and even uninstall and reinstall. It does appear my Google Talk in account with active function but not sure works or not.
I was about to buy Lion so I can start using the extra space I purchased on Iclouds but I noticed that Mountain Lion is coming later this summer. Can I wait and simply install Mountain Lion without ever getting Lion?
