my MBP got really slow.I'm on a grpahic design school, and when i open illustrator/photoshop it takes so long for it to open.Yet maybe a week ago (for example) he opened every programme super fast. OSX Lion 10.7 Disk partition: Windows 7, only 70GB.

First time using my computer since before Christmas and have just discovered that Photoshop Elements 3 won't open. It starts to open but then quits.
I've tried re-installing the programme from the original disk, and just get the same result.
1.5Gb G4 Powerbook 15", running OS 10.4
My photoshop all of a sudden refuses to open. It just one day happened. It is photoshop CS running on a Mac OS X version 10.4.11 mac mini. I have more than enough space for the program, and have tried deleting all the preference and plist files for the program and tried re-installing it but it still won't open. I don't get it?
View 1 Replies View Relatedanyone know if it's possible to take a screenshot–whether of the entire screen or of just a selected area–and have it immediately open in photoshop?
if this doesn't exist, wouldn't it be great if apple created it?

I am wondering why I cannot open my png image from an iphone on my CS3 photoshop (real photoshop - not cracked)
When opening it says it cannot open the file - parsing.. yet my mac system can see the image in ta thumbnail just fine.
I have photos from my camera that i have imported thru iphoto.
I then go into photoshop and go File>Open>Media>Photos and it comes up with my iphoto pictures.
It gives me the option of clicking on the events or albums, but after that it does nothing. I cant select a photo, or open an event when i am viewing all events. Why?
Also, is there a way i can view the iphoto library files without having to open iphoto and look thru there. Thats one thing i miss from windows is being able to go thru the 'backways' and look at the files.
I have Photoshop CS and microsoft office for my macbook pro with 10.5.6.
the programs were working fine untill about a week when my computer crashed during an update to 10.5.6. I had to reset the NRAM and PRAM, and then it started up working fine. now when i attempt to open and office program or photoshop, they dont open and it says it has closed unexpectedly.
Also, when i try to reinstal it from the disk, the intallation app closes unexpectedly as well.
Since the crash, safari and firefox open, but i have to reset and relaunch it every time.
This happened to me once before, but i ended up bringing my computer into the mac store and hey fixed it, but i am wondering if there is a way i can do it without having to bring it and not have my computer for a day.
I'm having a major problem with Photoshop CS3. After a hang up it launches but hangs up on trying to open any file on my HD. I've tried reinstalling Photoshop, also unistalling it an performing a clean install (not of all the CS3 suite - just Photoshop), I've deleted preferences, I've created a new user and it works OK, so I tried copying the preferences (settings, Paths & plist) and pasting them into my current user prefs, but it does not work. I've run Disk Utility and repaired permissions. Still doesn't work. I'm a designer and need to have this programme up and running fast since I've got work to give in. I'm on a G5 Dual Proc running Tiger 10.4.11.

I have now bought a new imac 20" iMac OS X 10.5.3 and although it installs, it will not open and a message appears "An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occurred because of a program error. Photoshop will now exit." No explanation or help offered. I have tried downloading other versions but no success. Having now retired I use photoshop a lot to produce fun cards for the grandchildren and a Newsletter.

I have been working on a project and have a completed picture on my flash drive but when I go to open it, it says cannot open because file is empty. It shows that the size of the file is 96 kb and I can see it with the "quick look" option when you left click. This is using CS3 by the way.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs anyone using Photoshop on a Laptop? If so, what kind of laptop, processor, ram etc? How odes it work for you? Is it powerful and fast enough using CS4?I've been told that a Mac Book Pro 2.2 gHZ works fine for editing photos using Photoshop CS4. I'm looking at buying a new computer and wondering if I can get buy using a laptop as opposed to being tied to a desk.I'm considering a new Apple 13" 2.4 or 2.66gHZ C2D, 4MB with a Nvidia 320M GPU. I like the small form factor and battery life for taking with me in the field. I can always plug in a larger monitor when needed.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am new to Macs, my MBA being my first.
I LOVE the concept of a program being contained in a single 'file' that you install by dragging into the applications folder.
Now that I am used to this setup of one file per program... Office 11 and Photoshop are driving me nuts... EVERY other program has a single icon in the applications folder... Office has like 12, I hate it!
I've uninstalled, I think... but I still see icons and crap everywhere (documents, etc) any help REMOVING all of it?
Anyone running this successfully on the MBA? I tried it yesterday and it got stuck, I think it is too big for the MBA.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a MBP and I've been using an external 1TB FW800/eSata/USB drive with my Lightroom library for editing photos in Lightroom and Photoshop.
I want to drop the MBP and buy the Air v2 SSD. All considering NC Macguy's posts (and great disassembly photos) and all the performance-oriented info coming out.
Anyone been running PS for editing 16 bit photos, multiple layers, filters, that sort of thing? Normally, I'd waltz into a Mac Store in LA and run some edits on my own but I'm currently in Berlin and they a) don't have the new Air in yet and b) won't put an SSD out as a floor model anyways.
I've got a file (39mp) if anyone wants to download it and see if it clogs up PS I'd be very interested to know how the system holds up especially the ram.
I'm new to Photoshop and planning on purchasing the education discount version with a new MacBook Pro 2.26GHz. I plan on upgrading the memory to 4GB and the hardrive to 360GB @ 7200rpm. Is the 2.56GHz processor worth the extra $300? I know the memory and hardrive will be about $140 if I get the 2.26GHz version. Will I notice a big difference between the 2.56GHz and the 2.26GHz?
View 19 Replies View RelatedI have a Macbook Pro. I have a copy of Dreamweaver MX 2004 and Adobe Photoshop CS that I would like to install on this machine. Both of these programs are backed up on an external harddisk.
I used to to have a copy of this Photoshop working on my mac, but a few months ago, it stopped working, and I haven't been able to get it up and running since.
Here are the specs of my Mac:
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
So far I have basically tried copying these programs onto my machine from the external disk, but with no success.
Is there anyone who might have any idea what is going on with these programs, and how I can get them working again my machine?
If so do you know which profile you are using while on the 2nd monitor?

I'm a dutch photographer (don't mind my english) considering switching from pc to mac. What is holding me is I think its quite an investment buying a MBP and a Mac Pro at the same time. I was wondering.........because I also need a notebook......would an MBP also do the job doing all the processing of Photoshop? (It still needs to go very smooth like on a desktop so no hicks during any actions.) If so...then I could first buy a MBP and later on a Mac Pro. I definately need the notebook on location.
View 21 Replies View RelatedMy Photoshop CS5 does not like it if I move image files into folders generated on my Mac Book Pro it is only with the HDR & Merge features. If I do not have image files inside the folder generated by my
Nikon these features will not function.
Im thinking about buying a new laptop soon! I know the same question is asked over and over again but Im a student so Im kind of different from most of the business people...
#1 My question: Is MBP still portable? Portable as in being able to bring it to almost everywhere just like i do with my iPad?
#2 MY QUESTION: Can MBA still support iMovie or Photoshop?
#3 My question: Is 128GB of storage enough for average user?
#4 MY Question: Will MBA last at least 5 years before slowing down and "dying"?
Which one do you guys prefer? (OPINIONS) Please be specific as to which model and specs! My budget is aroung $1250

I just got a bunch of Photoshop styles in the form of .asl files and tried to load them on Photoshop, but Photoshop didn't recognise any of these files. The file icons are grey rectangles with 'exec' on them.
May I know how I can open these asl files that seem to work fine for everyone else?
I use a CS3.

I believe there might be something wrong with my MacBook Pro-It's a late 2008 one, mid configuration. Intel C2D 2.4 Ghz, 2 graphics card, 2GB RAM, ... (Using SL)
I usually find myself using up most of the RAM, with 96MB of RAM left right now, and sometimes when using Photoshop, up to 15MB. My CPU usage is quite high, with Chrome using 17% + other Chrome processes.
I'm only opening up 13 active tabs with 12 pinned and disabled tabs; Is the CPU usage too high?
Could a 13" MBP with 8GB of ram and a SSD drive handle working with Photoshop CS5. Will it have enough muscle??
