How do I transfer and download OS X Lion from wife's Mac to my Mac? Also, is this allowed ( I believe one or more additional downloads are allowed in house?

I just picked up my new 13 inch 2.26 GHz macbook today and am really happy. But i have a few basic questions and all since i am a new mac user coming from a pc. 1- I have a 500GB western digital elite harddrive that i used to back up all the data from my pc. Now some of these files are over 8GB large. I am confused as to how i can transfer over files. I have heard about different file formats but i am very confused by each. I would love if the hardrive could be used for both mac and pc tho. Does anyone have any insight to this. 2- Are there any free programs i should download. I already have coconut battery, adium, istat pro and iwork.

And, for a little while I've been using a MBP for the same task but I find condition the battery every so often to be a right pain in the rear, especially since it's not my main laptop and it's cells are constantly pumped full most of the time, thus constantly connected to the wall outlet
cut down on my super high fuel bills and make my life a little easier. I'm thinking about buying a Mac Mini of my own, it'll probably be completely headless, cause I'm thinking of using it purely for downloads and huge online file transfers etc.
I am however curious, does anyone else use theirs as a slave, for the same or similar tasks?

Says the software may have been tampered with or corrupted during download. I am NOT some computer hack, just a regular guy who bought a simple product to download and it doesn't work. Total BS and waste of my time. I'm not interested in saving my download to an ext HD, or partitioning my HD, or some other funky work-around. I want to know why this software will not load straight away as advertised? I have S/L, v 10.6.8 and the required RAM and disc space.

When downloading small files online they will download through Speed Download. Before I installed Speed Download it would just download through the regular downloading client. How do I change it back to using the regular one as standard? I use firefox btw

Whether through the App Store or the Apple download page, it starts to download, gets a certain way through, and then just stops. In the App Store, after awhile I get a message that Software Update can't connect to the update server. On the Apple.com download page, it just stops downloading. I don't think it's our internet connection, because the update worked just fine for our other iMac (which is older than the one I'm having trouble with).

I've got a 2011 mac mini server, it's currently got Windows server 2008 R2 installed on it.I'd like to run OSX Lion Server as a virtual machine. But I need a .iso (preferably) to be used to install the operating system.Because I didn't receive any installation discs with the mac, I dont have a copy up front.What's the easiest way for me to get an .iso of OSX Lion Server without needing to use the app store.(Currently it's not easy for me to be able to boot into OSX, because I have it set up as a remote machine and I only have windows installed).

I have an old (bought in 2003) iMac flat panel, 1.25GHz PPCG4, with 768MB DDR SDRAM, with the Tiger 10.4.11 system on it. I want to buy a Macbook air or pro but I discovered that I cannot transfer files directly from Tiger to Lion. I cannot upgrade to Leopard neither (not enough space). I have a Mac Pro with two hard drives. The one with my older system seemed to be failing, so I installed Lion on the other, newer drive. Now I'm facing the problem of having to transfer all my settings, iTunes info, Keychain, Apps/Serial Numbers/Permissions, etc. from the old system/drive to the new system/drive. How do I do this? (I'd like to be able to sync my iPhone again instead of being told it's already associated with a different computer!) I should add that the new system is already installed, so using a program like Carbon Copy Cloner would just erase that. I also already had data on the drive where the new system was installed, so wiping the drive was out of the question.
