Aug 9, 2009I plug in my iPod Touch and it always opens iPhoto. I took off photo syncing with iTunes and did nothing. I have iPhoto v6.0.6 and I could not find a "disable sync" anywhere in the preferences. I fond the application image capture but when I open it, nothing happens (the menu switches for a split second from finder to image capture then back to finder). I heard you can disable it through image capture but since the program seems to be faulty and does not open so I dont know what to do.

May 5, 2009I bought Myst from the app store on my iPod last night, and when I plugged it into my computer, it attempted to sync Myst to it but it wouldn't make any progress. Was taking an impossible amount of time, so I canceled it. Now iTunes won't recognize it. I can't see it in Disk Utility either (although I'm not sure that is possible)
Anyway, I've tried restarting iTunes and the iPod and neither has resulted in success. Ideas?

I never looked too far into it- just figured it was a bug- but I recently have purchased a movie I want on my phone and found out I can use the "Create iPod or iPhone" capability in the advanced menu. The only problem is... I can't use it. It's un-clickable. My iTunes is up-to-date and I made sure i'm selecting the movie I want to convert, but it still won't make itself an option to click.

May 10, 2010I just bought a new MacBook Pro and used Migration Assistant to move my old MacBook files to the new machine. Ever since the file migration, my brand new iPod Touch is having a lot of problems connecting to iTunes. Here's the deal: When connected by USB to the new MBP, the iPod charges fine, but is not recognized by iTunes (does not show up at all). After mucking around a bit (unplugging/plugging in, deleting iTunes plists, and repairing disk permissions) I decided to reinstall iTunes. I followed Apple's directions to completely remove iTunes and after reinstalling iTunes the iPod was detected and all was working great again...until I shut down and restarted my computer and the iPod was no longer recognized.
I proceeded to uninstall/reinstall iTunes again. It worked!...until I restarted my computer and iTunes would not recognize the iPod again. Interestingly, each time that I followed Apple's directions to completely remove iTunes, I could not find iTunesHelper running in either Activity Monitor or present in the start-up items of System Preferences as the Apple KB suggested it should be. I should also mention that the new iPod Touch has no problems being detected by iTunes on my old MacBook (the source hard drive for the file migration). This is baffling to say the least. I'm getting ready to forget Migration Assistant, nuke my new MBP's user account and start from scratch.

Mar 24, 2012I'm using iTunes 10.5.3 (3) on Mac OS X 10.7.3 When I drag and drop music from my iTunes library onto the iPad the iPad will first start to 'sync' but I'll notice that it immediately starts to try and sync up all of my music (I have more music than I have space on my iPad so that would just fail eventually but it starts the slow wi-fi sync of all my music). I check the settings for the iPad (via iTunes) and I notice that the Music tab's "sync" option has suddenly been enabled again (when I've previously turned it off).Â
This is very strange and annoying as all I want to do is copy music from iTunes onto my iPad. I can do this no problem with my iPhone (has the same sync settings turned off and that doesn't re-enable the sync setting when I drag and drop music from iTunes to it? The only difference from my iPad is that i have the apps tab 'sync' option turned on - see P.s below for more on that)Â
if I turn off syncing of apps for my iPad I get a message that tells me 22 apps will be deleted and that all data will be lost as well. I'm assuming because some apps I've paid for and some are free I'll be able to re-download them no problem, it's just that some apps have extra settings/configurations on them that I'd rather not lose and I just don't see how turning off the 'sync' option would affect them? Just leave them on the iPad device and stop trying to sync them with iTunes??

ITunes For Mac :: Opens When IPhone Is Connected Even If Auto Sync Is Disabled?
Jun 19, 2014I use my iMac (10.9.3) at home to Sync with my iPhone (7.1.1) to keep a full backup copy. I have the setting "Automatically Sync when this iPhone is connected" active, and up to recently this worked nicely. However, I think since the update to iTunes 11.2.x there seems to be a problem:
- when I am not at home, I use my MBP (also 10.9.3 and iTune 11.2.2) to charge the iPhone.
- in contrast to earlier versions of iTunes, connecting the iPhone to the MBP causes iTunes to open. It is NOT possible to sync because the iPhone is connected to the iTunes library on the iMac.
- when I disable the iTunes option "Automatically Sync when this iPhone is connected" on the MBP, the next time I connect the iPhone to the iMac iTunes does not open. And when I open it manually and "mount" the iPhone, the iTunes option "Automatically Sync when this iPhone is connected" is disabled. It seems that the iTunes option "Automatically Sync when this iPhone is connected" is now stored on the iPhone?

Jun 19, 2009Just upgraded to the iPhone OS 3.0 on my 1st gen iPod Touch and when I turn the volume up whilst it's in the iPod Hi-Fi, the volume dips when I've finished turning it up... When I push the volume up again the volume slider on the iPod touch then moves down to where it dipped.it's quite hard to explain! Basically, when I turn the volume up to 50%, the sound dips to 25%.... the slider still shows 50% until I press the volume up button and it would move the slider to 25%. (If I wanted to play my music at 50% I would have to turn it up to 75% and wait for it to dip to 50%!)I have reset the iPod touch and restored it but the problem still exists. OS 1.0 and 2.0 didn't have this problem. Does this happen to anyone else? Is there a solution?
