My IPhone has a large number of albums on it and not all of those albums are in my desktop iTunes Music Library. How do I move albums from the iPhone to iTunes or sync it so the music on the iPhone ends up in the iTunes Music Library? This happened when my desktop went down and I ran iTunes on my laptop and loaded music on to the laptop iTunes Library then onto the iPhone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter syncing my iPhone (4S, 32GB, iOS 7.1.1) with my iTunes (iTunes 11.2.2) on my MBP, iTunes said:
The data on the iPhone is corrupt, restore it (or something similar, my iOS is in German). iTunes did not even recognize my iPhone anymore.
So I did restore the iPhone from the last backup from a few days ago. Everything looks fine during the backup process. iTunes resets the iPhone, then syncs all my music (about 16 GB or some 4,000 titles).
But after completing, the music is not there! The iPhone's memory is filled with 18GB "other data" (the yellow one, you know), and when I open "music" on the iPhone, it is completely empty.
Obviously iTunes DOES transfer the music files to the iPhone, but they do not "arrive" there properly.
I have a new-to-me MacBook (running Lion) and I just downloaded all my music into iTunes. I had been sync'd with an old PC laptop previously. If I choose to sync my iPhone (4S) with iTunes on the MacBook, will it delete my apps and data (as the warning in iTunes leads me to believe)? I do use iCloud backup on the iPhone, and I've got all kinds of apps installed (and arranged to my liking). What's the best way to have my music sync with the MacBook without having to reinstall my apps?

I have just synced 148 out of my total 225 apps to my new iPhone - and spent over an hour and a half sorting them out again in to my desired configuration! I am now concerned that my apps will be reinstalled and reconfigured again when I sync my music - forcing me to again spend the time sorting them out. Is this the case or will my apps stay where they are and unaffected? The message I am receiving is as follows;
The iPhone “Lukes’s iPhone” is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?
An iPhone can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iTunes library.

Aperture is syncing all stacked photos in my library to my phone. I was under the impression that only the pick photo would be synced.
After some trial and error I noticed that just the pick photo is stacked when syncing a normal album.
Syncing smart albums and projects will transfer all the stacked versions.

At the moment most of my music is either stored on my Macbook or on an external hard drive. Is it possible to transfer all my music and videos to an external hard drive and then sync it with Itune so that every time I plug it in I can access them?

Recently I've been having issues syncing iPhoto albums to my iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. It results in an error such as "The <device> cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to."This usually is during the import phase of the process despite me deleting all the photos in my device, therefore nothing to import. The AppleTV (Gen 1) is somewhat more descriptive by explicitly stating "iTunes cannot sync to the Apple TV <ATV name> because of a problem on your computer. The disk could not be read from or written to.". I'm inclined to think this only started happening with the latest version of the iPhoto 9.3 with Aperture 3.3.1 integration. Meanwhile my iTunes is 10.6.3.

how do i upload music and photos from iPad and iPhone to MacBook Air?

Installed iTunes 9.2 and now get an error message at end of synch saying the iPhone can't synch because the file can't be found. The issue is limited to photos checked to synch from my Aperture 3.03 library. Those photos have been removed from the iPhone leaving only the photos taken on the iPhone and stored in the 'film roll'. All photos synched from Aperture were removed and won't reload. The Photo tab shows the Aperture app is checked and should synch.
I have repaired permissions and rebooted the iMac. Same issue continues after all this.
When you sync your iPhone you sometimes get the following message:
Itunes has found purchased items on the iphone thats arenot present in your itunes library.
There are two reasons for this:
1. I have deleted apps in iTunes that I don't want, but not on the iPhone. I don't want to transfer the apps back to iTunes because I want them gone.
2. I have bought apps on the iPhone that I do want to keep. I want these transferred to iTunes.
So if I have both types 1 and 2 then there is no good answer. Preferably iTunes should offer to sync and choose which apps to transfer and what not to transfer. Is there a way to change this behaviour? By the time I sync I don't know what I've done so I'm usually not sure how to answer the question. Sometimes I like to bulk delete apps in iTunes--it is easier than doing it on the iPhone.

Reinstalled fresh copy of Lion and started over. I did not do a complete restore of what I had because I wanted to clean it up anyways.... I have a complete Time Machine backup though. So now when I go to sync my iPhone it wants to erase it because it says its sync to another computer. I already copied all my media back to iTunes from backups.

So yesterday, after a good experience with iCloud backup and sync I decided to delete all my apps from iTunes library. I saved nearly 50GB (!). I decided to not sync apps from my iPad and iPhone to iTunes, so I unmarked that option on every device when connected to itunes. I only want to keep syncing TV Shows, Movies, Books and Photos from Aperture library. The problem is that every time I sync my device with iTunes, iTunes starts downloading apps from my iDevices (but not all of them). I've also turned off automatic downloading in iTunes/Preferences/Store, tried to sync via cable, wifi.

I guess I'm just an old f*rt, but I have alot of trouble navigating my way around iTunes and the App Store.I have alot of old apps that I simply want to dump into the dumpster and be rid of forever.I cannot seem to find a way to permanently delete an app and have it go away forever.

When I restore from backup to my device iTunes then begins to sync apps. It gets to the 4th or 5th and then stalls.
My console log consistently shows

when this happens.

I purchased a couple TV shows on my iPhone, and they synced to my Mac.
I watched them on my Mac, and deleted them off my iPhone to save space, given their size. I also do NOT have the "sync new TV shows" box checked.
Yet, the shows keep re-syncing and loading onto my iPhone every time I sync. I suspect this has something to do with the fact that I purchased them on my iPhone. But how do I make this stop?
My laptop got stolen a few weeks ago, i've replaced it with a new MBP, and fortunatley I done a full backup at xmas time, so my computer is just like it was on the 23rd of December 2011. However, my iphone has a ton of new photos, music and playlists on it since that date.
Now I want to keep all these tracks, playlists and photos, but i don't no how to go about it.
If i plug it in to the MBP now, won't itunes back sync and delete all the new stuff?
How do i go about keeping the recent stuff on my iphone?
Sync'd my iPhone with iTunes on my mac and lost all imported ringtones. I go to reset the alarm ringtone for example and cannot find any of my imported ringtones. My default imported ringtone for the phone still shows, but if I go to edit it, none of my imported ringtones show up as options. This has happened since the last s/w update for my iPhone (didn't happen before)...

I have a HD movie that I bought from iTunes and when I want to sync the movie to my 4S, it only shows the SD version in itunes under the iphone 4s movie sync tab. It shows the HD version if I launch it from my imac, but for some reason I can't get it to sync the HD version to the 4S.
I did originally buy the HD movie on my 4S but had to download it at home on my mac due to large file sizes.
Any reason why my imac can see the HD movie but neither my iphone 4s or ipad 2 can sync the hd movie?

I am beyond frustrated right now. So far my transition to iPhone, iPad, and OS X has been really pleasant and convenient. This is just so beyond stupid though. Here is what I would like to happen:
I download podcasts on my phone while on the road, and I listen to them and delete them at my discretion. When I sync my phone to my computer, iTunes doesn't download any of the podcasts from my phone to the comptuer, nor does it delete them off my phone. That's ALL I want to happen.
Instead, I download podcasts on my phone, listen and delete them at my discretion, and that works fine. But when I sync to my computer, it is just an exercise in frustration. It downloads the podcasts from my phone to my computer/iTunes, even though I have gone through every setting to make sure "sync podcasts" is off. I do not want the files transferred to my limited desktop space. Furthermore, it sometimes decides to just delete the podcast off my phone entirely. I like to leave old podcasts on to re-listen to sometimes.

i Have an iPhone 6 (128Gb) with over 60gb of music synced and I have noticed that whenever I make several changes on my iTunes (genre changes, files directory changes, etc) to multiple songs and then try to sync it to my phone it gets stuck on the last step until I'm forced to unplugged the phone (trying to stop the sync doesn'to work).
Once I reconnect my phone and the backup process starts again all my music files now appear as "other" and thus ITunes now tries to sync all my music again causing an error message stating that I do not have enough capacity..
i Have tried to troubleshoot this issue to isolate the problem but with no success. I was just forced to reinstall all my apps and music once again and I am extremely annoyed since it happens quite often (since I do end up editing large amount of songs on a constat basis). after making all those changes on ITunes i always make sure ITunes recognizes those files. I try to close and open iTunes to ensure it updates its library and all the files' links. All songs do appear and play normally on iTunes. Everything works on iTunes but then when I plug in my phone all new or modified songs appear grayed out with the circle to the left (indicating they will be synced, but it never happens)
