ITunes :: Why Is (10.6.1) Requesting Password At Startup

Jun 24, 2012

iTunes has suddenly begun asking for my password at startup of my Mac (running OS 10.6.8). And if my iPad2 is in its dock, the password is requested a second time. I have refrained from entering the password because I suspected a possible security breach. iTunes never behaved this way until a couple of days ago. Today when I tried to install the latest iTunes update (10.6.3), the process stopped after about 98% of the download and reported an error. I have tried Software Update three more times, with the same result. Anyone know what is going on with the password requests, or with the persistent update error?

ITunes :: Crashes While Requesting Songs Via IPhone?

Apr 8, 2012

I am using iTunes to play music via airplay to my apple TV as well as the headphone jack on the computer connected to an external speaker for a multiple room setup. I tried to use the request feature in iTunes DJ, which allows others connected to your wifi to request upcoming songs using the remote app for iPhone and iPad. iTunes will quit unexpectedly once more than 1 person has connected to make a request. is there a way to limit how many devices can connect at the same time?

I am using 10.7.3 with a MacBook Pro late 2011 and the most the recent version of itunes. I have tried restarting and having itunes be the only app that is open.

OS X :: Safari / SharePoint - Keeps Requesting Login Details

Mar 27, 2009

I have just bought a new MBP, but I've been having this issue for the last year on my iMac trying to access my companies Intranet through Safari. (Or firefox for that matter..) From an MS blog - http://blogs.msdn.com/sharepoint/arc...19/671735.aspx
Windows SharePoint Services v3 should work according to that link with Safari+2.

This is the version we are using for our intranet, but my Safari just will not allow it. It is forever requesting me for Name and Password. However when I type the said details in, it just pops up and prompts me once again. So I'm guessing this is an authentication issue? It's becoming really annoying and I'd really like to get around it without having to run XP along side OSX just for Intranet page.

MacBook :: No Password Set But Prompt Keeps Coming On Startup

Apr 20, 2012

I used to have a password on my Macbook but I got annoyed of having to type it in every time I closed/opened the lid and the Macbook woke up. I got rid of the password through my system settings, but the prompt kept coming up when I opened the Macbook, but there was no password. I would just leave the password field blank and hit enter. Okay, no big deal. I just restarted my Macbook because it was lagging with video, and its asking me for a password to start up. I tried leaving it blank and just hitting Log In, the prompt shakes back and forth. I tried my old password before I got rid of it, the prompt just shakes. I don't have a password, why am I getting a prompt on startup and how do I get past it.

OS X :: ITunes Crashes On Startup?

Mar 30, 2010

I closed down iTunes and opened it back up to discover that it wouldn't open anymore. I tried removing the library file, thinking it might have become corrupted somehow, and iTunes would sort of half-open, but not for long. And then when I'd try to open it up again, it would crash.

At this stage, I could get it to briefly open every time by removing all the library files every time, but then it would recreate them, and when it close/crash (and it would do this every time fairly quickly), it would once again not open at all unless I removed the library files.

ITunes :: Keeps Freezing On Startup?

Apr 24, 2012

A few days ago, my itunes began freezing shortly after startup. It would take forever to get through the "checking library" phase and then once it fully opened it would freeze. This may coincide with it beginning to download some itunes-u content in qeue, but i can't keep it running long enough to get into the store to cancel the downloads, if that's what it is. updating the software but everytime i try it says "software is up to date", even though it was just told me that one is available. I've tried removing and reinstalling and have got nowhere. I may have actually made it angrier. I have over 109 days of music that I can't listen to and and an iphone I can't add/remove files from.

ITunes :: 10.6.3 On OSX (Lion) Crashes On Startup

Jul 6, 2012

Since the last software update my iTunes no longer runs when I click the icon on my dock or in the Applications folder. It crashes after about 10-20 seconds and never displays a window. I've pasted the log below. If I run iTunes from the command line it opens. I get a complaint about a Quartz visualizer plugin not being for the correct architecture, but otherwise it runs totally fine. If I have clicked on the icon that makes iTunes not open before I run it from the command line it does verify/check my library which takes a little while, but otherwise once that is done all is well.

OS X :: Startup Disk Full After ITunes Updates

Dec 31, 2010

I have a problem with my macbook (OS X Snow Leopard) that just occurred today:

I ran a few itunes updates (amongst others a 1.6 GB navi software) and my startup disk turned out to be almost full. I tried to solve the problem by shifting movies and music to an external hard drive but suddenly my mac froze and I had to restart.

Since this moment, when logging in a am informed that I need to free disk space (Start up disk is full) but this is not possible because my dock is missing and all I get is a blank desktop (no clock, WLAN, Battery symbols in the upper right corner). All I can do is access safari and Qucktime over the recent items list and open preferences (They can still play movies and surf the web). The apple Logo in the upper left corner is still there, allowing access to the basic commands like shut down, log out, etc.

I tried rebooting with the OSX disc to access disk utility, ran disk restore and disk verify. Everything seems to be allright, I just can't erase data and free up space. The terminal commands don't work either, all I'm being given is this command line: -bash-3.2#. Any command I enter is "unknown".

ITunes :: Password For NAS Server?

Jan 18, 2010

I having a huge problem with itunes, and after i have been trying to deal with it for the last 3 hours, it's driving me nuts. I have a Qnap NAS server with build in iTunes server, works like a charm on my computer and xbox 360 - at least until tonight. I wanted to access the server on a new laptop, I clicked the nas under shared drives, iTunes prompted for the password and accidentally I mistyped one character but had already checked the "remember password" box, and BAM - iTunes remember the WRONG password and the server won't let me in.. Everytime i click the server from the shared drive, it just load for a sec and throw me back to the main music folder on my computer, dammit. I have absolutely no idea of how I get iTunes to promt for pass again or how I can change/manage password..?! Why is it so hard to make that feature apple? So i REALLY hope some of you have the answers, I'm officially lost on this one.

Intel Mac :: Newest Update May Have Caused Itunes To Start Crashing At Startup

Mar 8, 2012

Ok, my once a week auto Mac auto update just finished and now my itunes 10.6 will start then crash as soon as it opens. Error report as follows

Process:         iTunes [746]
Path:            /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes
Identifier:      com.apple.iTunes

[Code]....

If you want the rest of the multi page thread I will paste it.

I have tried restarting the machine and no dice. I thought of reinstalling itunes from apples site but each time I go there its says congrats on downloading it but will not download a single thing. On the problems downloading its only gives me answers to PC problems.

Do I really have to completely reinstall from my iMac install discs just to get itunes back ? I dont use time machine as I have a 1T hardrive in my imac and use most of it for itunes, even I cant afford a 1T stand alone hard drive just for backups.

Info:
iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Just did the weekly auto update.
