ITunes :: How Does A Family Share Account Without Sharing Master Password
Jun 14, 2012
Is there any way to avoid having to give my password to my daughter? I have had the same AppleID for many years, and it also my email address, so I would prefer not to share the password with all of my family. As far as I can tell, I can not change my AppleID associated with my iTunes account.I do want my daughter to be able to download apps or updates to existing apps even when she is not with me, but that doesn't seem possible without sharing passwords. It would be great if iTunes allowed "sub-accounts."
Info:
iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.4), iPhone 4S, iPad, iPad 2
I converted an old apple ID to an ID that is a real email address, as the old one no longer was a valid email address. After creating the new Apple ID I tried to add this ID to the family share as many of the iTunes purchases of songs and apps were done under this ID. The invitation was sent to the new apple ID email address, but when I tried to accept the invitation, I received an error bubble that said " Invalid Invitation, you are already part of this family". When I went back to iCloud it would show that the invitation was still unaccepted.
I understand that if my wife and I share my iTunes account that she can access my purchases including the iBooks I have purchased. However, I do not understand how to set up my iTunes account so that she can 'share' it and still keep her own iTunes account for her own purchases.
I want to share my i-tunes account with my son. When I take my mac book over to his house and turn on home sharing he sees it on his windows computer. But, he can only play my music, he can't download it. Is there any way around this?
I have an airport extreme with a 1tb drive connected to it that my entire family connects to (4 people).
I installed the latest AirPort driver that allows the hard drive to be accessed over the internet which works great.
The problem is that it obviously only works with my user account since I linked it with my MobileMe user name. Is there any way to allow my other family members access to the drive over the internet, short of them going into MobileMe in system preferences and logging in as my MobileMe account?
I am trying to run Cache Out. The program asks for the system password. I type in my usual password that I use for installing programs, or trashing stuff from the system folder... It won't allow me to run the program, saying the password is wrong.
I have been trying to set up ITunes to share the library with another user on the same IMac. I have followed the details shown on Apple website but nothing is happening. Does any one have any ideas. I have copied the ITunes media file the public folder changed this in ITunes with preferences and advanced then done the same with the other user but it does not work.
I have just bought iMac and on installation did a transfer of settings from my Macbook Air. Now my iMac does not recognize my password or master password
I had ipod touch, i sold it and i will only use ipad + nokia phone + computer.
Most ipod apps are small, they are HD versions very soon. If I keep my itune account and buy ipad apps, most of my ipod apps will be wasted.
I have no music, video...only apps, and they are worth like over 450$. I think if I try to sell that, i may have 50$ at least, I only picked useful, famous apps and games. It's not a big deal, but not a waste. Someone can still use my account and save hundreds of $ buying on their own. Change info and add a card, then the account will work again.
Keep going round in circles - get Congratulations message from mobileme then still cannot sign into iCloud. Have successfully moved 2 other family accounts weeks possibly months ago but this one will not? Am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 OS X.
We migrated MobileMe family pack accounts (1 master, 2 sub-accounts) to iCloud when iCloud became available. Everything seems to work ok except when a sub-account holder logs into iCloud on the web. The welcome screen shows the name of the master account holder instead of their name. Seems like a bug from the migration from MobileMe.
I have a 14' macbook with os x 10.5 on it. Lately my master account hangs when you log in. Sometimes at the background screen, sometimes the finder loads but won't let you do anything, and it can hang anywhere in between.
I recently purchased a used imac g4 from a friend but I cannot seem to get it started. I tried to log in with the master password but do not have the password or install disk for OSX. I asked my friend about it and he said the same thing, he lost the user and master password including install disk. I took the comp from his hands anyway, it's in new condition and he never really used it, just forgot about it I suppose.
It also seems that on startup the mac searches for disks and servers, so it could of been a part of a network system? I would like to know if there is a way to get into the bios and reset the whole system without password prompts and all that. Which is the best way to do this? I have the mac osx install disk from my ibook but I tried to boot the disk and it's not booting. I also have the install disk for os tiger and that's not booting either. There must be a super secure lock on the system.
I have recently found out that my master password is not what I thought it was! I am currently running OS X 10.7 Lion and would like to reset my master password. There are two user accounts on the Mac - one being mine (administrator) and the other my sons (managed). I know both account passwords but not the master password. How can I reset it?
A few years ago I set a master password. I know the master password but would like to change it. I've read a few articles and it says to do this via System Preferences/Security/File Vault; however, when I get to File Vault, the master password info/screen/area is not there.
I purchased a new Mac and had to deauthorize all computers in itunes because I had over 5. I authorized the current 2 computers but when I go to play some older music in itunes I get a pop up to authorize the computer with my old itunes account which hasn't been used for over 6-7 years. I have no clue as to what the password was and the e-mail on the account id is no longer valid. how to get access to this account or merge to my current account.
