Recently when the iTunes application is active, I no longer have an iTunes menu bar, and the dock on my iMac does not appear. To switch applications I have to use command Tab and cannot change via the dock.

I have a MacBook with a built in camera. PhotoBooth had been working fine for years until just the other day. There are about 385 pics saved in it. I'm not sure if that's the problem. Now it will take a pic and I can see it on the little "reel" type thing along the bottom, but if I go to upload the pic anywhere, such as to a site or an email, it shows up in the list of pics as an icon that looks like a blank sheet of paper and no photo is attached to it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy late 2011 MBP (lion 10.7.3) used to connect to external displays through a VGA cable. It has stopped doing so since recently and I am trying to find out why, and how to fix it. The only changes I've applied to the system are (1) connect to a Thunderbolt display and (2) installed gfxCardStatus. The MBP and Thunderbolt display work flawlessly together, with network, USB, and firewire connections operating. gfxCardStatus has noticably increased my battery life (so I recommend it) and I'm aware that it needs to be in dynamic or dedicated GPU mode for external displays. The VGA external displays do not work when gfxCardStatus is running in either dynamic or dedicated mode, or when I disable gfxCardStatus completely so that it does not show on the process list.Â

So I work with computational chemistry, and we usually work with files on windows boxes, however we've started the transition over to Mac Pros. I have my macbook pro, and I've installed the necessary software, however I have a problem.
We use Notepad to make the input files on XP, because it does not inbed any invisible characters (besides returns etc.) However, whenever I transfer a file (.txt) made with notepad over to my mac, the file will not run in the program we use. It gives an error that usually means you have invisible characters in your input file.
So if I retype the file in Textedit, (NOT copy and paste), the file works fine. The exact same (looking) input file. Does anyone know what's going on here, or know of an application that will let me see these pesky invisible characters? I've tried word, but couldn't find what I wanted,
Having updated to 10.5.7, Calculator no longer displays Paper Tape on my G4. Funnily enough, Save Tape As... still appears in the File Menu. Okay restarted and it is back, whew! Wish Show Paper Tape were a preference that could be saved, half the time Calculator launches without it, though I never uncheck it.

However, the applications need to be resized and positioned when you connect it. Are there any applications that can remember sizing + positioning of applications based on which display is your primary?
It'd be useful to make the display my "docking" station of sorts.
How do I re-center an application that displays itself too far to the left on my screen? Both my contacts and Safari are showing up too far left -- so that I can't exit/minimize/maximize because those little buttons are off my screen.Â

I have a late 2009 Mac Mini running 10.6.2 with an occasional odd problem. I'll go up to the menu bar at the top and discover that its not the appropriate menu bar for the application I'm in. I might be in Safari (responsive in the window), but it says "Finder" in the menu bar - or Quicktime or some other open app. I can cycle through the windows without a problem, but the menu bar doesn't change. Then all of a sudden, everything is fine.
For some reason today my menu bar no longer shows up when I move the mouse to the top of the screen in any application. I have tried restarting several times, opening and closing applications, taking apps in and out of full screen, ran disk utility. All to no avail. Not sure if this is related, but I attached an external drive and booted to the recovery volume on my mac to install Lion on the external drive. It hung at the download so I quit and rebooted to my main drive. Everything worked normally except for the menu bar. Software up to date, 2008 MacBook Pro with no attachments.

I remember seeing keyboard shortcuts such as Cmd-F2 that would allow access of the Application Menu. However, this does not work for me.
I have set the fn key to not be needed for function key access. That is, if I press f10, it acts as f10 rather than "mute."
How do I access the Application menu from the keyboard?
I seem to have lost my Applications folder from my User menu under Places in Finder. It is still present however, in the Macintosh HD menu under Devices. So I thought I would just drag it to my User menu where there was one before, however it started to copy the folder there. Is this the correct way to get it back there, should it in fact be copying the Application folder? Seems like a waste of nearly 11GB to simply have a copy there.

I did a clean install of the Lion OS, and began to selectively reinstall application programs. I inserted the install disc for my Logic Studio Application, an application which was not cheap, and I am met with the above message when I try to install the software. (Actually, "you can't open the application LogicStudio.mpkg because powerpc applications are no longer supported")Under the system requirements, I find my machine within the guidelines. Also, this software worked fine on this mac machine when I was running the Leopard OS. What is "PC" about my Dual Intel processors?

I have been using the album art player thing in the new ITunes and now the album art unknown is really starting to get to me. I have a lot of old music I have been collecting over the years and a lot of the data was either not there or for whatever reason is not there. I am looking for a program to do either an audio scan or something to find all my album art work and information that itunes displays. I have used the ITunes find album artwork but some songs done have the album listed. What do I do from here. I am not going through 4k songs to get them all manually.
