MacBook :: Yellow Tint On Complete Screen / Worth Using Calibration Tool?
Apr 19, 2010
Both the Macbook and HP monitor are set to display Adobe RGB, the HP displays really crisp whites, and the MacBook is yellow in comparison. I'm wondering if all Macbooks display colours this way, or is mine faulty? I tend to work on the larger screen, but it'd be good to have the option to use the small one also.
I've considered buying a calibration tool (an overdue purchase) and/or taking it to the Mac store, it'd be a great help if anyone knows if it's a problem that can be fixed at all.

Alu 24" 2.4ghz when they first came out with aluminum, got it at the store. since august 07 My imac had a small yellow tint, i noticed, when i got it and it was not worth anyhting screaming about, i also noticed it had bleeding issues ath the bottom and sides. I wanted to return it or trade but i was convinced out of it.
Now i noticed that from left to right their is a prominent yellow tint streaking it's way across and fading around the half way point. It is irritating and sad to see this display on this mac was ok, at first but it is geting slightly worse.I have apple care, can i trade this/replace it at an applestore, or would they need to fix it?

I looked through the yellow tint threads and sure enough noticed that my high res AG had it. At first I dismissed it as poor viewing angles. I calibrated the LCD, which seemed to make it a bit better. But it is not a matter of viewing angles. I tried the test on my friend's old blackbook, and when viewing the screen head-on, the bottom square definitely looks yellow, BUT, when tilting the computer back, changing the viewing angle, the square turns white again, thus, a result of viewing angles. The same thing on my HR AG doesn't change the color of the bottom square, it stays yellowish. So I'm pretty much convinced that it's a real issue, at least to some degree.
I'm considering taking it back to the Apple store, or at least going there and seeing how their display models look. Something tells me that nearly all HR AG models (the current shipment that's out right now) suffers from this, and that my replacement will be the same. Does anyone think this is true as well? Should I even bother trying to swap it out? The yellow tint threads have several people that are going through 5-6 exchanges, and all still getting the same problem.

I have a late 2006 Macbook, and my dad has an early 2009 Macbook. I was comparing the two today and noticed that there was a significant difference between their LCDs. My dad's Macbook has a lighter, more normal display. While mine has a yellow tint to it and is darker. Both computers were on the same display profiles and both had the same brightness set.
Is this just how LCDs are as they age? Or is mine really not supposed to have that yellow tint? The new Macbook is on the right in the pic.

I just received my new imac 27, i7 (28-06-2010). I ran the screen test, unfortunately my screen has yellow tint issue. I have ran all updates and firmware within apple update with no luck. Going to call Apple for a replacement!

I see all these complaints about i7 iMacs, does the yellow tint affect Core2Duo models? Is the tint an effect of a MB/CPU issue or a display problem?

Now this is my first ever Mac after being dragged into the Apple world by my iPhone and iPad. I love it, everything is a joy to use and i've been surprised at how quickly I have adapted to the world of Mac.
Anyway when I got it home on the day I noticed a spec of dust under the glass. Called Best Buy but surprise, surprise they had sold out of the model I had. No biggie I thought, I will get it looked at one day.

So I took the hefty plunge and purchased the 27" i5 from a local Apple Retail Store, believing that Apple would have finally resolved the yellow-tint issue from over a year ago, or at least it would appear in much less iMacs as it has sorta died down on the forums.
Anyways, opened it last night, and continued copying over files to it today, only to notice that it has a slight yellow-tint issue towards the bottom 1/3 of display.
I've already made a genius bar appointment......I even purchased Apple Care on it, so the total was around 2.5k, and I'm hoping for them to allow a swap for another brand new unit? Is this likely, or will they just simply wave me off to a repair or refurb route. After dumping so much $ on it, and even purchasing Apple Care, I wouldn't be satisfied for anything but a straight exchange to a new unit.
Also, will they allow me to open it up right there and check to see that it doesn't have any display issues as well?

I have read the many many threads on the Yellow Tint issue although i am concerned about buying a 27" i5 Imac as i've been saving for a while. I'd be really disappointed if i end up with a screeen with the yellow tint issue.
What i would like advice on is the following:-
Has the reason behind the yellow tint issue been found and has it been resolved?
Would waiting for the next updated Imacs be a better option as i am not in a major hurry to buy my imac although i would prefer to buy it sooner rather than later considering the time i have been saving.

I have a 23" apple mac cinema display (matt version) which seems to be suffering from a slight yellowish tint on the left hand side, it also seems to go slightly brighter that side as well, apart from that the screen is fine.

I just used the ical calibration tool to sync ical up with my google calendar and it works like a charm. I love how i can just click on dates in Mail and add them to my iCal which then pushes i to google calendar for my wife to see...that way i can sneak tennis or a round of golf in and she can't say she didn't know
At any rate-i would like to know if there's a way to pull her cal stuff to my ical. I can see all of her stuff on my google calendar, but i dont have the "right" to add her account to ical. I assume i could just have her enter in her login info - but i would like to know if that's the best way.

Im using a MBP 13'' 09 I believe (9400M). Every time I boot into OS X 10.6.5 and now 10.6.6 my screen is all washed out. I can see stuff but there are just way too much "whites. "(With an external and also with the internal).
An easy remedy for the external just requires me to unplug and replug the monitor back in and the calibration automatically fixes it's self on how it used to be.

Who is having this issue, have you resolved it, and how did you do it: Coinciding with Yosemite 10.10.1. my entire screen has begun to take on a blue tint. This was not an issue with 10.10.0. This is a MacBook Pro 6,2 with 4GB system RAM. Graphics is with built-in Intel HD Graphics (and standard 288MB VRAM), and the standard NVidia GeForce GT330M graphics in PCI (and 256MB VRAM).
The blue cast appears when using Microsoft Outlook 2011 (back to normal when it quits), Adobe Photoshop CS6 (sometimes yes, sometimes no), and intermittently when running Firefox or Safari (where the blue cast seems to coincide with invoking plug-ins). All of these applications are up to date.
Attempts to resolve this include:
1) Downloaded and installed the latest software updates for Outlook, Photoshop, Firefox and Safari. Made no difference.
2) System Preferences -> Displays -> Color -> Calibrate. I initially thought that the Color Sync profile had been corrupted, but the color was so 'off' that my attempt to manually recalibrate the screen could not go far enough. So I abandoned this.
3) System Preferences -> Energy Saver -> Automatic Graphics Switching. Checking Automatic Graphics Switching works, but un-checking it and the blue cast comes back immediately.
4) Running Disk Utilities -> Repair Permissions. Didn't work.
5) Cleared all caches using Onyx: Worked for 10 minutes, then blue came back
6) Reset PRAM: Worked for two days, now the blue is back.

The first MacBook Pro I got had the screen off centre (it was left in the bezel - there was no black perimeter on the left but a big one on the right). I did notice it also had a reddish tint to it. That display was a 9CB7.
The replacement has the screen more centred, so happy with that. But there is a red tint to this one too on the top left.
The bottom right is fine, colours look great, but middle and top left there is a red tint. The Safari bar is very warm when I have it up the top left, but when I move to the bottom right, it is perfect grey.
Anyone else got the 9CB7 screen? Red tint to that?
I'm going to have to exchange it again.. and hope I don't end up with the 9CB7 or any other issues.

Woke my C2D MBP from sleep to find a horrendous blue tint to the screen, googled it and found it is a fairly common problem but none of the solutions that seemed to work for everyone have worked for me. Tried the terminal command, tried turning a screensaver on and then off, tried ctrl-cmd-eject to restart the screen - nada.

Our eMac seems to be developing a green tint in the bottom right hand corner of its screen. I've done some quick searching online and it seems that a few people have suggested a cold boot so it runs the degaussing process on a startup.
I left the eMac off for about an hour, unplugged. It did the degauss once it was plugged back in and "seems" to have removed nearly all of the green tint.
There are a few threads on various forums when I search on Google about this issue but they have no conclusive reasons why this is happening.
Could my eMac be developing a fault at all? I'm not too sure if anything magnetic has been placed on our table near the eMac so this may be the reason.

I was testing out the MBA 13" and 11" again. My main goal was to see how much faster Flash & SSD are in comparison to HDD. It's so fast at restarting and booting. However I noticed something strange. Both units had darker tint towards the edge of the screens. I know colour shift happens with TN panels, but not like this?

Today I left my MBP on without the Power Adapter for calibration. Three hours later, when I arrived home, I found it with a black screen, unresponsive (didn't respond to any key or mouse movement whatsoever). No, the battery wasn't empty of charge, it still had half the charge! This is the second time this happens to me, I can't seem to think of a reason for this to happen.
I believe JDownloader was open, but not doing any downloads, but I'm not sure whether it was open or not, but besides it, nothing else was open.

I have tried calibrating the LCD screen on my macbook and after calibration the screen looks much better than it has before. The whites "pop" out more than they used to. The one thing I am noticing though is that some black text that I am seeing is looking to have more of a brown tint to it. Is there an optimum setting for calibration on a uMB so the colors look the best possible?

Thing is I got hold of a 1ghz 17" iMac almost for free, it had a dead logicboard (I checked it with a voltage-meter), but I figured I could fix it and have a small hobby project-thingie going on. Well I just got a new logic board today, for a 1ghz 17" iMac g4.
Things is I only get a bright grey screen from my Mac when I boot. I've tried connecting it to a external display and that works fine. Everything is there.
I then reinstalled Tiger on it, with the computer connected to my external screen. And I still have the same problem. (I have now disconnected the ext. screen and is controlling the iMac from my MBP). So at least it isn't the installation.
So what is the problem? I can via an Apple Keyboard control the brightness on the blank screen, which would indicate that it does react to input of some degree.
I've read that if the inverter is dead or anything else is dead, you would get a rolling grey screen, flicker or something like that and not a steady bright grey. One thing I'm thinking is. What if somehow this logic board was for a 15" 1ghz imac g4? Can I check this?
I read that long thread about guys buying hi-res displays for their MBPs, and they had to replace some display profile? Could I maybe fix it with a different display profile-file?
I'm really confused by all this, and would appreciate any help I can get.
Model: PowerMac6,1
CPU-Type: PowerPC G4 (3.3)
and
the gfx chip is a GeforceMX4 with 32mb.
The display is a mode 9c27, manufacturer 610, serialnumber 00000, manufacture date: B84D7200.

When I switch between applications such as Safari, iTunes and iPhoto, the screen doesn't show - only the grey tool bar at the top. I think have to click on the appropriate application in the dock for the screen to reveal itself.
What setting do I need to change to be able to see the screen immediately when I switch to the application?
btw, I generally use the cmd/Tab command to switch between applications.

I have had this macbook pro now for about 3-4 months and last week it started showing weird yellow/white stripes on places where it should be completely white. It comes and goes from time to time and it seems to be effected by the hardware itself, since when I move my screen it comes and goes. But when I make a screenshot of an opened window, like iCal, with lots of white space, it does not show the yellow-like stripes. I tried adjusting the contrast at universal access but it didn't work.

Has anyone else with a new MacBook Pro with Retina display notice a slight uneven yellow tint to their screen? On my screen it appears starting about midway down the screen and is more noticable on the left hand side. It is very faint, but enough to make me notice it when scrolling through webpages and the such. I am wondering if maybe this is the same glue drying issue with the iPhones that just came off the production line?
Also, when trying to run WebGL content in Safari (haven't tried it in a different browser yet), my MBP completely hard freezes and requires a power cycle to get it running again.
