I recently purchased the LG BE08LU20 External Blu-ray Disc Rewriter. I installed Windows 7 (64-bit) through Boot Camp on my 27" iMac. When I try to play Blu-ray discs through the external drive on the Cyberlink PowerDVD software, it says that the software "is not able to play the protected content on [my] digital output device". Is there any way to fix this issue?
View 3 RepliesSince I downgraded to iTunes 12 I can no longer see the content on the iPad in iTunes. Is this the most difficult and useless version of iTunes ever? I didn't think it could get any worse but it has now become very difficult if not impossible to navigate. Easy tasks sushi as adding content and deleting it are now not possible. My iPad air2 is a brick.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy sound keeps turning off. When I check the settings, the output device switches randomly between Internal and Digital output. I have no idea where the Digitial Output is coming from and this started about a month again. It switches randomly and then I loose all sound for a few seconds. Sometimes it happens once then stops for a few days, other times it switches back and forth for 5 min. No idea!!!

My friend is looking into buying the new 27" iMac Core i7 to replace his PC desktop. The only thing holding him back is that he has an analog surround sound system he uses for his speakers. I am having a hard time myself finding a converter that can make his speakers work in the iMac's optical digital output port. Any products out there that will do that?

This is kind of my last effort before I have to send my baby to Apple and pay God knows how much. I hear this is pretty common, but my audio jack is stuck on digital output. I've got the whole red LED light shining through it deal. I was told it was a swtich in the jack that had been triggered and all I had to do was a) stick a toothpick in it and wiggle it around till it trips the switch. b) spray some compressed air in there. Well I 've tried the first a hundred times a hundred different ways and I just spent 10 bucks on can of air, and that didn't work either.

I have the latest and greatest Mac Mini. 2.26 with 4 g of ram. I update to Snow Leopard, and now it will not recognize that it has Digital Audio Output via a mini to a Toslink connection. Heck. I am running it through a Classe' Processor with B&W 804s Speakers and it previously worked with the previous Leopard.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have my Xbox 360 sound out-putting through an optical digital cable to the digital input of my Dual 2.3ghz Power G5. My mac recognizes the signal but I was hoping I could somehow use the incoming sound to output through my headphone speaker jack on the front of my mac. Both my mac and xbox 360 use the same monitor.
I noticed it doesn't work that way. Is there a way to switch the incoming digital signal to route through my headphone port on the front of my mac? There has to be a way.

I just picked up a new 1.83 core 2 duo at a price I couldn't pass up. I am going to use it as a HTPC so I have my hdmi cable, etc. All hooked up and ready to go. Last bit is the audio but I am having a bit of trouble. I bought a standard miniplug cable and assumed it would plug in just like my macbook. The problem is that the miniplug doesn't fit in the jack on the mini. I understand that the jack on the mini is a combo analog/optical jack but as you see below, it seems as though a standard miniplug y cable should work.

The headphone / line output jack accommodates digital optical audio output, analog audio output with a 24-bit, 44.1-192 kHz D/A converter, digital audio output up to 24-bit stereo and 44.1-192 kHz sampling rate and supporting encoded digital audio output (AC3 and DTS). For analog headphone / line output a standard audio cable with 3.5mm metal plug should be used.
For digital audio, a standard toslink cable with a toslink mini-plug adapter can be used.I have done my research and some reading and can go out and buy an optical cable plus a miniplug/optical adapter but would rather go the analog route (I understand the quality difference) because I already have the cables and don't have a receiver or speakers, just my tv speakers.
The sound output in my Macbook Pro has been going in and out now for a number of months. And yesterday it finally got stuck on "Digital Output" meaning when I take out headphones from the jack, the internal speakers do not work. I am planning on taking it in and wanted to know, since I am still under warranty will Apple repair it, or give me a new one?

Yes, I knw it's been out for awhile, but I had invested in DVR's and so on and wanted to get my money's worth befor addopting new technology. Anyway, poped in the card, booted up, everything is fine. Then today I get an HD video and instead of playing I get a message about my display not being compliant This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection). I was all set to purchase the 27" apple display, but if it's not going to play purchased video, what's the point?If I had a mini display port monitor attached would it play? Or am I going to get the same error message?

I frequently have to switch my sound output device from Line Out to Headphones. I know all about the Option-Click of the menubar icon, but what I really want is to assign a hotkey to cycle through them (similar to the alt tab program scroll) when I can't easily get up to cross the room for my mouse.
If it helps I use a Logitech DiNovo Mac edition keyboard. I've looked all through it's prefpane but it doesn't have an option to switch sound outputs. If there was an unknown keyboard shortcut to switch outputs then I could easily just assign it to an Fx key.
On my 2009 I've noticed now that after using bootcamp for a bit then booting back into os x that i have no sound available, there's no sound devices in preferences. This is using the line-out jack.

When I hit the volume buttons it shows a shadow of the speaker logo and a circle with a line through it under the volume bar. I have tried a restart and also went into sound controls, where it says "The device has no output devices" . What can I do/what's going on?

I am running OS X Leopard 10.5.7 and am unable to find the options that i thought were available previously in tiger to configure the speaker setup/orientation. For example whether i am using satellite speakers, or 2 speakers either side, 3 4 or whatever it was, just like i would if i was using windows. It has a section under "Sound" then "Output", however it seems to be automated, i cannot add or remove, or edit items within the list.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using Logitech Z-5500s with my MP. Under the sound settings with digital optical selected, it says: "The selected device has no output controls." And at the top of the screen where it shows the volume, it is grayed out. And when I hit the volume up/down/mute button on my keyboard, it has a circle with a line through it. If I play a song on iTunes, sound comes out and I can control the volume through the Logitech controller like normal. But even when something is playing, it still won't let me adjust the volume through the computer.

My sound card seems to be meesing up. It switches back an forth from "Internal Speakers" or "Headpohones" to "Digital Output". For some reason the optical source keeps getting flipped on and is really annoying. I tried blowing out dust to see if that was causeing the comptuer's confusion, but that didn't work. Until I can make time to go to the apple store, is there anyway for me to turn off that certain connection through terminal commands or something?

I am about to buy a 15 in. MBP and I'll be going on a trip soon. I was wondering if there was anything I could get that would let me both use my mac as a tv for my xbox and use a tv as an additional monitor.
Something that would have RCA input/output (the red, white, yellow cords) and would connect to my mac with USB or hopefully firewire 800 (express card 32 would work as well).
I'm looking to use the speakers (Logitech X-540) with my laptop with 5.1... but this is an analog system (has green/black/orange inputs), and Macbook Pros only output with optical through mini-TOSLink. What's the best (read cheapest) device for decoding the optical output to analog?
If this won't work, I'm probably willing to shell out a bit more cash (Z-5500 perhaps). If you have a digital 5.1 system recommendation ($350 or less), let me know.
